Situation: There were problems with a board production, in which components drifted towards each other in reflow.
Feedback from EMS to board fab: "There's no solder stop between the components, so they drift along their tracks, this causes fidelity problems for the customer"
Feedback from board fab: "Not our fault, there is a minimum sliver of 0.1mm in the designs and it needs to be 0.2mm"
Feedback from us: "WTF?!? 0.2mm? Are you using 1970's machinery, or what!?"

@Asmyldof I mean, it's possible. There's a board fab around here (well, 1500 km from here, which is "around here" by Canadian standards) which still does 0.010"/0.010" two layer boards. They still have a "preferred drill" list and they haven't upgraded their equipment to do RoHS yet. Anything more complicated than that gets outsourced to a fab in the US. apcircuits.com

@PeterK I forgot to mention we're talking about a 12 layer, 0.1mm drill, 3mil/3mil board here
My standard Asian fabs all don't even bat an eyelid at 5mil/5mil/0.25mm drill containing 75um sliver. And deliver exactly what I expect without fail.

@PeterK Yeah but they're known for being hot, fast, and cheap.
@ThePhoton So is Sunstone and they can do multilayer.

I can do dual layer 6mil/6mil/0.3mm in my own lab in a day
Just not the surface finishing, but that's hardly ever required at that level of technology in my work anyway
Although I have all I need to create a HASL machine

Anybody know if there's any book like K&R (short, terse, just the facts) for modern C?
@ThePhoton no such thing. If you want the minimal facts, have a look at the standard itself. It already is big. K&R was tiny in comparison.

@PlasmaHH I more want something to come up to speed on the features added since 1988.
But without reading 400 pages of fluff

And I'd rather have it in print, to save my eyes.
