3:00 PM
You shouldn't care, really

Anonymous
Stick it on my shirt.

Anonymous
@BenoitEsnard I know, I know you're right.

Anonymous
I just struggle to do that sometimes >.< (A lot of the time)

I didn't even read the comments - I don't care neither
There's a lot more interesting things to do :)

Anonymous
I don't expect you to :)

Anonymous
3:00 PM
I wouldn't bother.

Anonymous
I was posting here for peace of my own mind but.

we all need to vent at some time.
the problem with doing it here in the SE chat rooms is, the Be Nice rule sometimes interferes. (just saying)

Do any of you watch the soccer world cup?

in either case, I've had my own share of people being evil and causing myself problems, even as a moderator. I usually go away and do other things when that happens :P

Anonymous
No Benoit because England never wins lol!

3:02 PM
@BenoitEsnard I don't, but I know people who do.

Well, they won in 1966 if I remember correctly

Anonymous
Correct.

And thay at least won a match yesterday :P

Anonymous
Barely... :D

France has won in 1998, that's old too - but still present in our memories

Anonymous
3:03 PM
Hasnt Germany won a lot?

la, la la, la, la, lalalalalala, la la, la, la

Anonymous
Its interesting, you'd expect a few teams to be dominant but it never goes like that does it?

@JoshuaJones 4 times i think

Rugby has a lot of more dominant teams

Anonymous
That's quite a lot @Kepotx

Anonymous
3:05 PM
I guess you could say they're pretty dominant.

Anonymous
I know theyve beaten England a few times lol.

Uruguay is 3, and I wouldn't call them dominant

Anonymous
Really!?

Anonymous
3 times?

Anonymous
Wow...

Anonymous
3:05 PM
I didn't expect that.

2 times actually, I was wrong.
1930 & 1950.
1st & 4th world cups.

Anonymous
Oh wow.

well, Italy have 4 cup, not oven in Russia
well, the first world cup was on Urugay

Russia has none, but managed to win 5 - 0 against Saudi Arabia in the opening match

1998 was in france

3:07 PM
@Kepotx good old times

never did the calculation but it would be funny to see how much a team win when they are at home
I was too young to really see them in the time, but as you said, it's still present

Anonymous
I expect someone has done it @Kepotx ?

I was 6. I don't remember any of the matches, but I remember everyone in front of their TVs.
That looked like an important day for sure.

Anonymous
To be honest I've never really been interested in football.

Anonymous
Or sports for that matter. And considering England never win anyway there is no reason to watch lol.

3:15 PM
I don't care about football, except the world cups, because I love stats.

@BenoitEsnard what do you mean by that?

I just don't care about soccer. :D
I just love world cups (and European one) because there are a lot of matches, so a lot of scores, and I love numbers.

oh

I don't do anything special with those numbers, but I still find them interesting.

@JoshuaJones I think you can use the magic link [security.se] in comments to link to Information Security
just a tip

Anonymous
3:21 PM
Huh?

Oh, that works. Didn't know that.
@JoshuaJones the magic link he posted is transformed to a link to the homepage. :)

Actually:
344
A: Add data.SE style "magic links" to comments

balphaMost of these now work. My comment below has the following markdown source: On [main], you are expected to write proper English (as advertised on [english.se]), but here on [meta.se] it's more important to have freehand circles, so please [edit] your post, otherwise I'll have to flag you (see...

These are shortcut to frequently used links

Anonymous
Oh :D

Anonymous

Anonymous
OH

Anonymous
3:25 PM
Wow. Thank you :D

quite usefull

Anonymous
Yeah :D

Anonymous
That is useful.

Anonymous
I will make sure to use that in my comments next time.

Anonymous
@M'vy Should the quotes not be the other way up?

Anonymous
3:31 PM
As in my comment at the top of the post?

hm?

Anonymous
His to follow? (That might be a nitpick)

I admit I'm still proof-reading
Not sure I'll have a look
Need to re read the question

Anonymous
Alright, no worries :D

Anonymous
It just looked a bit upside down to me, it doesn't matter though ^_^

3:33 PM
Your question is about the behaviour, so I think addressing this at the start makes sense

Anonymous
Yeah you're right,.

Anonymous
:D

Now I'm probably gonna get some heat, but

Anonymous
Well I appreciate you responding to the psot.

Anonymous
Post*

Anonymous
3:36 PM
If it does get you heat I am sorry.

I've pinged mods, but they seem to be afk

Anonymous
I shouldn't have vented here to be honest.

Anonymous
That was a bad move on my part as well.

Well, tigger isn't, but he's on mobile for now so can't

Anonymous
Thank you @M'vy

3:37 PM
my pleasure

Anonymous
I appreciate it. Once again I apologise if you get heat for it.

Don't mind me

Anonymous
I didn't expect anyone to care, etc so :D

I've been here for years
Oh, people do care.
Trust this

Anonymous
Well, that is good to know.

Anonymous
3:39 PM
I didn't expect it though, I was just venting here because I could.

Anonymous
And "Tigger" = Avid?

mhmm

Anonymous
Thought-so stupid question really, lol.

Anonymous
Thanks.

Well, chat has always be a bit more 'tolerant' for venting, within reason.

Anonymous
3:42 PM
Hmm, yes. I still should not have done it but.

Anonymous
I cannot take it back so I can only apologise.

Anonymous
Is it possible to block users out of curiosity?

in chat yes
on site? not sure
/help
ah
@JoshuaJones mhmm. That was good.

Anonymous
What was good?

I don't think he ever did, did he?
Apologising

Anonymous
3:47 PM
Oh.

Anonymous
Sorry.

Anonymous
No he didn't.

Anonymous
He actually deemed his behaviour pretty appropriate as per his conversation with Rory 1.

Anonymous
Im so bad at words >.<

And mod-hammer strike

Anonymous
3:55 PM
What happened?

All has been moved to chat

Apologies it took me a wee while. I was travelling

Anonymous
No problem Rory.

@RoryAlsop at least it was taken care of :)

Anonymous
And as you're here I apologise for my comments about him being on his moral highground (As I did in my post)

3:57 PM
(travel is the bane of all of us mods' exsitence - people want instant gratification but sometimes we're traveling and can't :P)

Anonymous
I was just at boiling point at that point...

ahah

Anonymous
^

@JoshuaJones The best thing if you feel you are getting riled up is just to step away from the keyboard/site for a bit
4
Flag it and one of the mods will get it
It's best if you don't let yourself be goaded into things

Anonymous
@RoryAlsop Yeah my apologies as I said I shouldn't have shot back with a sarcastic comment.

Anonymous
3:59 PM
Thank you for dealing with it though.

no worries - I still have a little cleanup to do

Anonymous
^_^

Anonymous
@RoryAlsop You might want to start posting on Cisco posts, I'm catching you ;)

Anonymous
I'll be king of the tag Soonâ„¢

@JoshuaJones one of the trade-offs I have discovered. Moderating eats into your time for posting questions and answers

Anonymous
4:01 PM
Yeah I can imagine it does that heavily.

Anonymous
What do you prefer?

@JoshuaJones My rep graph clearly indicates each time I take on modding a new site :-)
the graph flattens out

Anonymous
Haha :D I need to start learning more so mine doesn't flatline.

Anonymous
I'm running out of questions to help on lol.

@JoshuaJones The good thing is there is always more to learn. When the site was new I was often getting to questions first, with the best answer. Now there are loads of people way better than me.

Anonymous
4:03 PM
@RoryAlsop Yeah and people are fast!

Anonymous
Very fast.

@JoshuaJones I blame timezones

Anonymous
So do I.

Anonymous
Nobody actually likes timezones lets be honest.

I get home from work and find so many things answered by (probably) US folks in their morning

Anonymous
4:04 PM
lol.

Anonymous
I've had an easy day at work today so I've been on all day. But I usually will do everything in the morning.

Anonymous
Or on my commute home.

me too. Morning. coffee break. lunch. coffee break. evening. night

Anonymous
Then in lunch I will check back or hang out for a while.

Anonymous
Usually do some flagging and editing during lunch.

4:06 PM
To be honest, that's the sort of thing that would be great if everyone did it. Very few take the time to edit.
So thank you for that

Anonymous
Yeah I've started to try and edit as much as possible because it really helps.

Anonymous
Especially when the English isn't that great. Some posts are actually incredibly hard to edit because of the English in-fact.

I need to find time to browse the queues
Well, in fact I need to take time. I'm sure I have some

Anonymous
Yeah queues I tend to do in the morning also.

Anonymous
Well, I will be off for now. Take care.

Anonymous
4:11 PM
@RoryAlsop Thank you again.

@JoshuaJones no problem. Have a good evening (I'm guessing European timezone)

Anonymous
UK :d

Anonymous
I thought I told you that :p

yay - me too
probably did (sorry) - old brain. Forgets everything :-)

Anonymous
Haha :D

4:22 PM
@RoryAlsop Well, editing is hard. Since my English is not perfect, I'm often reluctant to edit, because I don't want to add grammar errors in a post I could have misunderstood.

@BenoitEsnard it really is, yes. And as mentioned, if the poster or editor has language challenges, it is even harder
But when you can, it really helps

Sometimes I would prefer not having 2k+ reputation, and having my edits audited by others

1 hour later…
5:24 PM
I finally got a popular question (security.stackexchange.com/questions/187912/…) and someone marked it as a duplicate.
There's 1 close vote on it, presumably for the duplicate mark. As of right now, there's only this annoying box on top of the question telling me to edit my question. Do I need to do anything about it, or just ignore it? It's not a duplicate, is obviously not a duplicate, and given how much attention the question has gotten, I think most people also realize it's not a duplicate.

6:12 PM
@YetAnotherRandomUser yup - don't worry about it

6:29 PM
OK, cool.

Anonymous
7:24 PM
Is there a mod here?

Anonymous
@RoryAlsop

Anonymous
security.stackexchange.com/users/180567/angel-kadloo I have a feeling this user is a potential troll.

Anonymous
@AndrolGenhald ^

7:39 PM
@JoshuaJones Why did you post (basically) the same comment three times to this question? security.stackexchange.com/questions/188073/…

Anonymous
The user must've removed his comments.

Anonymous
I was obviously not just talking to myself..

Anonymous
Why would you think I was just talking to myself?

Anonymous
I've removed the other two comments which were responses to the OPs comments.

@JoshuaJones So far I'd say they're probably new and haven't realized this is a QA and not a forum

Anonymous
7:47 PM
Hmm.

Anonymous
The "Can our thoughts be controlled?" seems a little troll-esque

that one did seem rather vague and very off-topic, but their first question was at least relevant even if it was unclear

Anonymous
Yeah that is true.

Anonymous
Although I wouldn't be surprised if he posted the second one as a response due to his first question being duplicated.

Anonymous
But I suspect you're right.

Anonymous
7:53 PM
Maybe still a user an eye should be kept on though :o

I really want to answer this question but as it stands I just can't.

Anonymous
11:07 PM
I expect it will be answered by the time I wake up.

Anonymous
Sigh
