I was reading some Q&A on this SE and someone linked to Microsoft's "Ten Immutable Laws Of Security (Version 2.0)". technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh278941.aspx If these are 10 immutable laws, how is there a version 2.0? Wouldn't its immutableness preclude subsequent versions?

Obviously whoever wrote that article had CAP_LINUX_IMMUTABLE.

Q: Create 2 separate networks at home

DevSharkI am looking to increase the security of my home network as much as possible. An option I came across was to create two home networks. One would be used by less secure devices, and another for more secure devices. What's the best way to set it up? Is VLAN the most secure option? I found this qu...

Q: What is the frequency of signature updates for Snort (free version)?

Olkov EvgeniyI can't find information about the frequency of signature updates for Snort. I mean the free version (not Sourcefire NGIPS). Does anybody know it?

People like this guy are the people in life I will just never get along with.
Anonymous
I will never like them and they will probably never agree with me and I will never agree with them.

@JoshuaJones When editing, I'd recommend not code formatting words like HTTP, POST or URL. I think the general rule is to reserve code formatting for actual code (e.g. variable and function names), formulas and file names. Not abbrevations. I know, minor nit pick, but anyway. Glad you take the time and effort to improve the site with edits!
Anonymous
@Anders Honestly, I was never sure about that myself either.
Anonymous
As they're functions/protocols etc I always thought it was best to code format them because it looks neater, but I wasn't sure about them myself either.
Anonymous
Thanks for providing the feedback I will try to be more conservative in future.

Do you think in ciphersuite scenarios it is useful?

And no problem, I enjoy helping out! :D

A: Create 2 separate networks at home

Joshua JonesOne good way of achieving this is using VLANs as you have suggested and perhaps two separate VRFs this would allow for segregation at Layer 2 and Layer 3 of the OSI Model. 1 Let it be said that this requires a little bit of networking knowledge and is something that is usually set-up in corporat...

@DevShark In regards to your question "Create 2 separate networks at home" I think if you edited it to be more security-based it could be a good question.
Anonymous
For example if you asked the effects/benefits of segregating the network.
Anonymous
Why it is more secure

Etc.
