Anyone alive here?
@BartSilverstrim Yes
Jacob! how are you?
Meant to ask...where do you rank on the "youngest" scale for SF?
@BartSilverstrim not sure
@BartSilverstrim Good, you?
I'm...okay, I'm not sober. I'm not going to encourage you to follow in my footsteps at the moment.
Apparently the others are gone out.
have gone out.
I'm in the zone where you can ask me anything at the moment and I'd tell you what I probably shouldn't.
@BartSilverstrim Well, then :) I bet I'm the youngest, because I was born in december, but I'm not certain
02:11
Hmm...okay. Until we have evidence otherwise, you're the youngest.
@BartSilverstrim cool. I wonder what mozilla would think if I applied for Site Reliability Engineer
:-O
I can't wait for tomorrow's workout
it's going to be epic
@hobodave epic?
we're doing Murph
WTF is murph?
02:19
1 mile run, 100 pullups, 200 pushups, 300 air squats, 1 mile run
20 lb weight vest optional
Wait, I'm intoxicated and you're participating in that?
yes
I might pass on the vest though
Friendly advice: @jacob, ignore @hobodave at the moment.
As a sysadmin that lives in the dark recesses of a NOC at the moment, @hobodave is out of his mind.
lol
today I did Fran
well a modified Fran
@BartSilverstrim Well, you're intoxicated so I think I'll ignore you too
02:22
I wonder, how many ounces of Bacardi 151 would I have to down before going to a hospital?
@BartSilverstrim I'd happily live in a NOC... I don't see the issue
@jacob: important life lesson: there is a line to be drawn between getting unfiltered life advice from someone drunk and someone who it out of their mind drunk.
Right now I don't think there are a lot of typos in my chat session. Use this as a measurement.
@BartSilverstrim By the grammar of that; you're close
What's wrong with my grammer?
someone who it out of their mind drunk.
:)
02:24
That could be hyphenated.
Listen...well, read...if I'm readable, I'm not necessarily blacked out yet.
Here's an interesting observation. I might not remember this tomorrow, so what does that say for my keyboard and pedantic coordination abilities? Maybe there are advantages to being hardwired as a geek.
It's been a long week. But anyway it looks like most people have skedaddled for the weekend holiday.
Just a hypothetical guess, @JorgeGuzman Hiring?
@BartSilverstrim Looking at his questions, they're all about jobs/pay grades.... I was curious if hew was hiring just out of curiosity
@jacob: I'd respond to your question...but that would be a bad idea at the moment.
@BartSilverstrim Sure?
02:34
Um...yeah, pretty sure.
@BartSilverstrim It was more of an ok type of sure
I've just chugged 8 oz of Bacardi 151 and so right now the world feels pretty good at the moment.
I've got so much to get done in the upcoming days I wish I could feel like this the whole time to get through with the holidays :-)
@BartSilverstrim I've got nothing todo...

@Jacob: Ping!
@GeorgeEdison Hello
@Jacob Good news.
@GeorgeEdison yes?
I got the API code working in the server now.
Search results will use data no older than two minutes.
@GeorgeEdison ok?
Cool
So what it does it poll the API every two minutes and update its internal database with the changes.
@GeorgeEdison Nice

G'day
@Iain Saw the comment above about how you're close to 10k, I'll look for some good answers to vote for you!
@Ward - thanks but don't worry - I'll get there
and the automated systems will spot it and unroll them
I used to, every now and then, go through and read a bunch of answers from some high-rep user. I usually learned something doing it, and would vote accordingly. But yeah, can't do too many at once.
@ward I find most (all) of the top users are worth reading.

Some time in the last 15 or so years the closer on a "help me please" email moved from "any ideas?" to "any thoughts?". I have no idea what has driven this shift in usage, but it is definitely there. And for whatever reason, it drives me crazy. I was never much of a fan of "any ideas?" but "any thoughts?" is the same but worse.When the BOFH in me gets ascendent I answer such emails in the way t

@Sysadmin1138Expounds I've notice that more lately... I think it is, to a degree, people trying to distance themselves from their own neediness. The fact that they need help is somehow bad in today's self-help society. They compensate by stating the problem and then distancing it by asking for ideas or thoughts rather than directly assigning their problem as something you have to fix.

@Sysadmin1138Expounds I think problem is often that for someone who is inexperienced, it can be difficult to determine what are the relevant details to share and what are the appropriate questions to ask.
@coredump what did you think of that then ?
20:19
@Iain of what?
20:31
@coredump DW ;-)
I will only watch it monday when I get back home and download it :\
So no spoilers please :)
Was it cool
?
very cool
dang
At least its downloading back home, I will watch when I arrive.

That's just nuts
@TomOConnor People like that give people like us job security
I'm afraid i feel another ranty blog of terror coming on over this.
Did you read my eggs in baskets essay y'day?
I did not. I've been in an alcohol induced haze for the last 48ish hours.
woo
do you work for Amazon EC2?
Haha, nope. This one is voluntary
I work for a catholic university, so I have a 4 day weekend. One of the few perks to the religious affiliation.
22:50
hehe
23:03
did anyone add my RSS to the channel list?
apparently so
