I've got hydra running off a word list, but I don't think it's going to break it, because every other password I've received so far is things like p$ych7667!
It's also going to take 33 hours to exhaust the word list. Sigh.
@jojomodjo I think we've both been professional and, as much as can be expected, respectful to you at every opportunity. You have done nothing but bitch and moan
Now, I don't know what kind of sites you normally hang around, but Stack Exchange is different
We expect professional answers from professional systems administrators
There are boiler plate comments in the low quality posts review queue. One of them is: "While this link may answer the question, it is better to include the essential parts of the answer here and provide the link for reference. Link-only answers can become invalid if the linked page changes."
@MarkHenderson Oh, I updated the question. The DC isn't giving out an RA. It's sending a weird solicitation, which is somehow making the router send out the weird RA.
I'm seeing the following IPv6 addresses having requests dropped by our firewall. It doesn't seem to be anything too malicious, but there seems to be a strange pattern to them:
2aab:19a7:3971:94f4::80fe (62,050 requests)
bb2d:f96b:f097:bccd::80fe (31,392 requests)
aafb:2bc8:ccad:1451::80fe (26,4...
I'm currently providing my clients with hosting through hostgator reseller but my new CMS depends on PHP => 5.4, I needed something else.
I'll be using WHM/Cpanel and probably WHMCS for the billing part.
I first looked at rackspace "cloud servers". I actually set up a server, configuring a LAMP...
I'm currently evaluating Server 2012 to serve as a domain controller in a small heterogeneous network of Linux and Windows workstations and servers, all of which would eventually be joined to the domain. This is a 100% dual stack network; every device has IPv4 and IPv6 connectivity. The router is...
@jojomodjo FWIW it was me that deleted your answer. It was correctly flagged as Low Quality (being link only). A comment was left requesting improvement and when you failed to do that (and it was evident that it wasn't going to happen) I deleted it. Your argument about it being on a well know respected website really doesn't cut it. We recently had a huge problem with links when sun.com disappeared meta.stackoverflow.com/questions/141203/blogs-sun-com-is-dead.
@jojomodjo It boils down to we want content here on SE not pointers to content elsewhere.
@RobM Don't you have to log in with Facebook to use it? I nope'd right out when I saw that. The only thing that gets my Facebook details is Facebook itself.
@tombull89 Because I don't have a formal LLC/Corp they won't "approve" me as a host. Even though I am registered with the right government agencies and have insurance.
@tombull89 I thought that was for servers not for server hosts?
@HopelessN00b It's A work in progress; I have to own the entity but give my dad POA. So I think riding out the 10 months until I'm 18 might be better, or when I make enough to get a lawyer to draft the papperwork
@Jacob what sort of hardware are you running on? I'd imagine minecraft would be happy with as much RAM as it can handle and as many cores you can give to it.
I'm a bit unclear on what the RAM is used for, so I'm wondering if when a user watches a video on my server, does it go from the filesystem, "out through the pipes" and onto my users screen, or does it go: filesystem>RAM>"pipes">User? If the video is loaded completely into RAM it will probably cr...
@MDMarra he left a link only answer, it was flagged LQ and was given the opportunity to improve it. He didn't and he indicated he wouldn't so it was deleted - happens daily for link only answers
Oh; yeah, he's got no clue.. I'm trying to be nice, but I got woke up this morning an hour early by a wife who's car was stuck in the road. I'm not in the mood to put up with anything today.
@ChrisS No. And not much rain, either. Light drizzle overnight, not even enough to cut through the snow on the ground from earlier this week, and just cloudy, cold and windy ever since.
@ChrisS Depends on your perspective, I think. 15 inches of snow would mean a day off, so I'm a little salty that I have to install 60 more printers today instead of... sleeping and gaming and watching TV.
So after 4 days our CMS was finally upgraded to the latest version. Active collab had to do it manually because our database is "too big", and their upgrade script doesn't support it.
@tombull89 Network, print server for the main office. And the worst part is that I need to install them all at least 2, so... Ugh it's just gonna take a while and leave me in a mood to kill anyone who looks at me sideways.
@ewwhite Ah, cool, that's probably what it was. 'course, a wise man once told me to be diligent about my HP firmware updates, so I made sure to update to the newest edition manually.
You'd think I'd know by now...but if I ask this question (I will also post my own answer but want to hear other answers too) -- "DataCenter scheduled maintenance tasks" ....will it be considered shopping/learning material? I'm wanting to ask about things like having an electrician check circuits routinely, dry mop the floor, anti-static mats, plumbing checks for the fire system, FM-200 maintenance, a/c maintenance, etc.
hmm...I looked at the canonicals here: meta.serverfault.com/questions/1986/… and saw the fire suppression one...so wasn't sure. I was hoping to get a broader consensus of answers beyond my own maintenance schedule
I am trying to connect to my PC which is behind a NAT (and I don't have access to the NAT configuration as it's a university) from outside of the network. I've searched a lot and found out the best solution to be using UDP hole punching (no, my university's IT team is full of retards that wouldn'...
I have a machine with 3 identical disks. I performed a clean installation of ubuntu 12.10 on one disk.
How can I convert the running system to boot off a (software) raid5 comprised of all three disks (one of these is in use running the system)?
Is it possible to start a raid 5 md device in degr...
