@rbp That I've been doing the last ledger entries for the year, and the final bank account balances actually match the amount of money in my bank accounts. :)
Somehow that surprises me every year

@DeltaLima thanks!

@falstro oh, I thought it was a metaphor of some kind, like "the curtains match the rug"

No other guesses in my straight and level unstalled flight at 0KIAS?

2 hours later…

@rbp the airspeed indicator is not working

5 hours later…
rbp
rbp
13:31
hint: its on the VG diagram
its not a trick question
you are on the ground?
at the apex of a stall turn?
space? :)
13:48
at second reversal point of a tailslide?
14:16
@rbp Never heard about this idiom, but the results were colorful ;)
@rbp I think it would be a good idea, but I doubt anyone would want to see me doing anything.
rbp
rbp
Anything with the word "stall" in it is wrong. The plane is in the air and it can be at any altitude.
technically the plane doesn't stall during a stall turn
rbp
rbp
@falstro has it: at 0G. Zoom maneuver / zoom climb with 0G at the apex.
The hammerhead turn, stall turn, or Fieseler is an aerobatics turn-around maneuver. == Description == Enter at full power and maximum airspeed. Pull the aircraft up through a quarter loop into a vertical climb. The speed will decay but before upward motion stops firmly apply full rudder to yaw the aircraft through a cartwheel of 180° until the nose is straight down. Dive vertically to the same altitude as the maneuver started, then pull out, exiting in the opposite direction. == Flying technique == The timing of applying full rudder is critical. If instigated too soon it results in a wingover....
rbp
rbp
@ratchetfreak but it's not straight and level either
At the apex of the zoo, the wings are level.

@farhan I'm not sure I understand
14:34
@rbp about video recording my flights and uploading them
rbp
rbp
Aha
So what's the story with rolling back edits, like this one: aviation.stackexchange.com/revisions/9571/4
it seems retaliatory rather than constrictive
if you don't agree with the edit you can roll it back

1 hour later…
rbp
rbp
15:44
well he rolled it back because he said it was a "substantive" edit and it already had too many votes
not because it didn't improve e answer
Which is supposed to be the criterion
@rbp too many votes is not a criterion that an answer cannot be edited.
rbp
rbp
The exchange is in the comments. I'm no longer going to respond there. aviation.stackexchange.com/questions/9570/…
@Farhan
@rbp Yes, I saw that. Sometimes it is pointless to convince others.
@rbp Just a tip about chat, if you've a mouse, you can click on the end of a message line to reply to that message.
... or you can click on the menu at the beginning of a message line and select "reply..."
but it all depends if you have a mouse, which many people don't like anymore
:)
rbp
rbp
@Farhan right now I'm on the mobile site
16:44
@Farhan or you can try to divine the message ID and prefix the message with it (prefixed itself with a colon)
16:56
@rbp I'm Sorry.
(wait, iPhone or iPad?)
17:21
@voretaq7 The mobile site sucks isn't too great.
@Farhan no no, you were right the first time. It sucks :P
It's not bad on an iPad because you can go into desktop mode and it's a usable size
@voretaq7 Well, I didn't want to anyone to get offended ;)
I think the folks responsible for chat have accepted that we're needy pricks who will never be satisfied no matter how hard they try less than thrilled about some features.
17:36
It could very well be.
But I was surprised that SE team has a bug by design feature.
e.g. when you try to vote a Q/A which you have already voted, the tiny image is missing in the popup text.
rbp
rbp
the mobile site sucks, but i don't want to carry my machine around
@voretaq7 mods are able to prune commetns?
@rbp prune and edit when necessary
@Farhan there's supposed to be an image? :)
(alternate response: "Popup?")
rbp
rbp
@vortaq7 let me say that the guy's answer is substantially correct, and not worth my writing a separate answer. my edit was to correct the RW v FW low-level survivability, that helmets are used for conveniently mounting many things besides just NVG, and that things fly out the doors not in
@voretaq7 ...^
@Farhan oh that
I've never paid attention to those because if you click outside the box they go away :)
@rbp I think you've adequately addressed that in the (remaining) comments - if he's going to pitch a fit about the edit it's not worth fighting with him over IMHO
rbp
rbp
17:51
agreed. just want to be clear
Also I thought helicopter pilots wore helmets to block the beer cans thrown at them from the beach...
(mumble mumble flying deathtrap mumble mumble)
rbp
rbp
except for people who are doing dangerous jobs in copters, the main reason is because so many copter pilots come from the military. you don't find S-92 drivers chauffering CEOs wearing helmets.
heh... you don't find helmets on S-92 drivers who chauffer CEOs around
@rbp indeed. The CEOs should wear the helmets. Mostly for when they get out of the helicopter (that beer can thing again).
rbp
rbp
bottles of crystal!
@voretaq7 or anyone -- what's the secret to changing my avatar? i have tried all the different /user/.../rbp profiles, and none of them have an option to change it :(
@rbp @voretaq7 CEOs should always wear helmets, since heads can bump.

Q: How do I change my profile picture, or avatar?

SLCWhere does the image come from? How do I change my profile picture, or avatar? How do I change my profile picture on all SE sites at once? How can I use different avatars on different SE sites? How do avatars work? How do the SE sites know when I changed my Gravatar? Why do SE sites show a differ...

18:04
@rbp Do you have a gravatar ? The Stack avatar uses that.
@Farhan You can upload an image directly now? WHAT SORCERY IS THIS?!
rbp
rbp
I've read that 100 times, and I cannot find the right /users that has the magic button to do this: blog.stackoverflow.com/2013/01/…
(also can someone tell me how Gravatar is profitable?)
rbp
rbp
>>> hover your mouse over your picture on your profile page, you’ll see a new link to ”change picture”
i never see that "change picture" link :(
@rbp That cake is a lie -- click the "Edit" link instead :)
@voretaq7 It is very profitable if you get the profits.
18:07
(that cake didn't used to be a lie, but that was 2 years ago)
rbp
rbp
oh jeez, that worked!
thank you thank you
Your chat avatar will update shortly after the apocalypse (because caching) :)
rbp
rbp
must be chat caching because a full reload didn't help
There is a madness to the method. Sometimes changing your parent site for Chat can speed things up.
18:44
@rbp Maybe leaving the room and coming back might help.
rbp
rbp
@Farhan i see it now!
@rbp Great
rbp
rbp
@Farhan its a picture of N555Q
@rbp Your plane?
rbp
rbp
i'm a partner, but it lives in KHWD, about 2500mi away :(
@Farhan i can't bring myself to sell it :(
rbp
rbp
@Farhan I had one of me on the wing, looking all macho with a 'chute and everything, but I can't seem to find it
i'm inverted. glad I'm wearing a chute
it's not honoring orientation!

"All maneuvers likely to lead to an inadvertent departure from controlled flight are prohibited."
...that includes turning off the gravity on the ground!
rbp
rbp
its a good thing it has an inverted fuel & oil system!
19:50
@rbp Nice picture. I suppose it's before the flight since you haven't opened the parachute.

@Farhan or soiled my pants....

For iPhone fans:
Siri you ignorant slut!
... that looked really weird on the sidebar
@Farhan just tried it, looks like they fixed it
23:56
@Undo OMG, did you really believe that it was true???
@Farhan nah, but wanted to try it anyway
