12:51 AM
So I feel quite accomplished! Using Ansible, I connected to my 4 Raspberry Pis, and setup Nginx on 3 of them, and HAProxy on the fourth, serving up a static web page. It may seem small, but I feel accomplished!

@rahuldottech sooooooooo
I was poking around superuser.com/questions/1438303/… and found superuser.com/questions/1197986/… . As did another user
MIIIGHTTT want to polish up and make a slightly more specific answer to the problem and get zeee rep

So the mini-PCs are the thing now?
Having small form-factor how do these fare in hot weather i.e. 30c-35c?
"Sadly I decided to return this. I didn't have any hardware issues like some have had, but the temperature hovering near 90C when playing games had me concerned that it might not last that long."

8:40 AM
@Boris_yo shuttle pc have been thing for years]

9:03 AM
@Boris_yo there's different definitions of small form factor
Do you mean NUC, MITX or Mini-STX?

11:10 AM
to refactor or not refactor, that is part of the question
]

if you have to ask, the answer is "yes"

:D
well it's just my cpu script for the kindle, it's not complete yet, and i'm not even sure how to correctly define everything into functions etc.

@djsmiley2k the hacker also made themselves a mod... everywhere
which was possibly the big givaway something was up

yah. bit dumb

and this was literally reported on chat
Went something like "why is this guy a mod everywhere? and no employee flag too"
and suddenly a dev went "we're investigating"

11:18 AM
lol.

and BOOOM the guy was suspended a decade

i sense they weren't that malicious tbh.
more a case of stupid curoisity.

@djsmiley2k I normally won't speculate but I literally watched this happen on meta's main room

not speculation then
250 users, such a odd number
is the mod db seperate....

@djsmiley2k don't think so
I think mod and employee are publically available flags over the API
(I'll share some public but not obvious gossip on PII ;p)
But there's literally a user who has a thing that tracks who works and who's no longer working at SE as a hobby
and they seem to be the ones who picked up the user was fishy
SE acted fast though.
though
TLDR: You can't sneeze on SE without someone noticing.
@djsmiley2k hmm
roughly

11:37 AM
@JourneymanGeek well, sometimes it takes longer. But in the long term, someone will find it.
The term gambler's ruin is a statistical concept expressed in a variety of forms: The original meaning is that a persistent gambler who raises his bet to a fixed fraction of bankroll when he wins, but does not reduce it when he loses, will eventually and inevitably go broke, even if he has a positive expected value on each bet. Another common meaning is that a persistent gambler with finite wealth, playing a fair game (that is, each bet has expected value zero to both sides) will eventually and inevitably go broke against an opponent with infinite wealth. Such a situation can be modeled by a...

@Loong well, we do have a few folks who kinda... watch everything.

I only wish SE would always act that fast.

@Loong security issues are "Easy"

@Loong To be fair, many things that SE does are not visible for us.

@Loong that's probably true of many organisations

11:50 AM
Well yes, I guess I should just wait. I only feel stupid when I find something and report it, but get no feedback and I cannot openly discuss it.

:/
@Loong that's something that needs fixing, though in two dimensions

@magicandre1981,can you,please help me.Reading "Stopping all automatic updates Windows 10"I have been using WindowsUpdateMiniTool for some time now.But,I can no longer open it.In the window that appears,I have the following message "to continue,enter a username and password as an administrator"What can I do?I'm not so expert,but probably open a question about this is off-topic.Am I wrong?

@ubu16 magicandre dosen't hang out on chat, and you can't ping people who haven't been on recently on chat.
And no, it might get downvoted for lack of research (cause it ls literally what it says on the tin) bit its on topic
however if you're using an MS account or actually need to work out what to put in there, knowing you have an admin account, the question could be whipped into shape.
(since MS account names are a bit odd)

2:42 PM
Unrelatedly
Whuuuut? Whyyyyyyuuu?

@Boris_yo Add an extra fan?
Hmm. So this one isn't liquid-cooled but some of the older ones are.
...welp. EC52070D?
(as the name suggests, 6C/6T Core i5 and RTX 2070)

1 hour later…
5:34 PM
I want to download a file using same name in some directory
using curl so I'm using this command
curl -O -J -o images $line
but this doesn't seem to work -O -J are for same file name as that of server

1 hour later…
6:46 PM
Eurovision tonight
@JourneymanGeek saw that on hackaday, had litterally thrown a printer just like it in the bin that morning :D
still, that's not enough to convince me to pull it back out
what's -O and -J actually do @AbhimanyuAryan ?
If you use -O, it'll name the file as it is on the server.
> Write output to a local file named like the remote file we get. (Only the file part of the remote file is used, the path is cut off.)
and J just blindly trusts the server to specify the file type, which seems like a insane idea.
Am I the only Sado watching euro vision then? XD

The eastern-europe song contest?

Are obscene songs allowed?

7:11 PM
well iceland doing a sbsm act thin.. this may go funny

7:27 PM
sbsm?

@JourneymanGeek too much time, nothing to do, no better ideas

somethin somethin S&M

Out of the loop question here. I am writing an internship report. It's supposed to be for post graduate program in management. I did my internship at a fintech company in data analytics department. Where I basically used R and made small utillity/app using shiny web framework. Now most of the internship was just programming. So should I include code in the report?
if not how can I make it look like I did some work there.

7:49 PM
@noob You should ask on workplace.stackexchange.com chatrooms

No one in that room

8:07 PM
@noob there will be eventually. Go ask.

8:35 PM
@noob you will have to ask the company if you can share the code for your report
otherwise ask them if you can do some screenshots of it in action
code written for organisations tends to belong to them, especially if it is on their equipment

3 hours later…
11:58 PM
ohhh... K....
