Oh my God
Is it just me, or are the 't's in in the font on this page wonky and distracting: antirez.com/news/129

10:13 AM
> It's mine now

@rahuldottech they look fine. The whole font is squished

Why are the 't's curved when none of other characters are?

o0

I appreciate them using a monospace font, but this is just absurd

Do it is
looks almost like one of them dyslexic friendly fonts

10:27 AM
> Some details will be most apparent in print, such as the subtle curves in lowercase "t", "v", "w", and "y".
I don't see any proper reasoning given for this tho
The curve is much more pronounced in 't' as compared to 'v', 'w' or 'y' - which appear fine to me.
The 't's really annoy me tho
> I have completed a PhD on techniques for interactive curve design. Spiro is a free software library containing these techniques, and I also used them to design a number of fonts, including Inconsolata.
You may have a PhD, but mate I'm the reader here and the the irregular characters are really hurting my eyes

10:56 AM
Are questions like these, which are half about operating Excel and half about elementary mathematics suited for Super User?

@Wrzlprmft we'd want some example of what they've tried so far. It's definately something that's possible in excel but....

11:26 AM
@JourneymanGeek I got a reply from the font creator ^
"it gives the font character" at the cost of readability? Lmao ok.

Monospace fonts aren't the best for legibility in prose
They're indispensable for things where alignment is important

11:46 AM
@bertieb depends
It's easier for dyslexics

TIL. Personally, I've always found monospace fonts to be the most readable, but I appear to be in the minority with that
See context

@JourneymanGeek I thought sans-serif with heavy downstrokes (?) was more widely recommended for being dyslexia-friendly?
@rahuldottech Personal preference, sure

@JourneymanGeek @bertieb: I thought there isn’t just one kind of dyslexic and thus there is no single feature that makes a font generally readable for dyslexics.

@Wrzlprmft Could be! I don't know enough about the subject

12:47 PM
It seems that latest games are all about being pretty and heavy...

@Wrzlprmft well not always. But the regularity can be helpful
Basically if characters are distinct, it's easier. How you remove the indistinctness varies

1:40 PM
/me looks around blankly.

2:16 PM
I have a work laptop! |o./
Dell latitude D7470 ;/
