Hmm.. yes. I actually thought -all- ports would be routed through.

@FML That's why there are walk in clinics

FML
@DanielBischof They are.

@DanielBischof Try TAP then

FML
6:02 PM
TUNs route IP traffic, they don't care about ports

Ah yes, I followed that wiki link there... I'm not really knowledgeable in networking stuff, that's all somehow new to me.

@ToxicFrog weil's disease is not very nice ...

But if there was, let's assume w.l.o.g. HTTP traffic. this is sent and received on port 80. If my client would only send http traffic on that port, what would effectively be routed through the TUN interface?
I should read a little bit about routing I guess.

FML
@DanielBischof Routing doesn't care about ports.

Just as an example of some traffic over some port.

6:11 PM

@CanadianLuke Rule of thumb: long password good. Password rotation stupid (security theatre). Password reuse bad.
what about finger reuse, face reuse?

!!facepalm

oh god that sounds far worse than it was meant to
thank god @Burgi didn't see.

6:15 PM
@FMLCat So... why am I still blocked?
Sep 30 at 15:10, by bwDraco
@JourneymanGeek Agreed. I'd actually argue that English is harder than some Romance languages like Spanish and Italian.

'the man hit the dog with the stick' -- Who had the stick? ;~)

@djsmiley2k Marvel Comics

@ThatBrazilianGuy ??????

Stick is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. == Publication history == Stick first appeared in Daredevil #176 and was created by Frank Miller. == Fictional character biography == The mysterious Stick is a blind sensei who trained Matt Murdock. Stick has made it his mission to keep the Chaste pure and clean from any evil infection. He forbade another of his prominent students, Elektra Natchios, from remaining in their ranks because of her vengeful personality, in spite of her formidable progress. Stick is quite punishing and arrogant with his charges...

why do my joints hurt so bad

@bwDraco TOWMN didn't like something you did or said in the dark ages ... :)
@djsmiley2k Joint pain is one of the long term effects of Lyme Disease :)

lol

> If untreated, symptoms may include loss of the ability to move one or both sides of the face, joint pains, severe headaches with neck stiffness, or heart palpitations, among others. Months to years later, repeated episodes of joint pain and swelling may occur.

it's more likely it's my.... depression, or ibs, or the fact my joints are overly flexible, or maybe m.e. or....

6:55 PM
The only thing my depression causes to hurt is my ego.

lucky you
maybe i do have lymes
and it's the cause of everything else? XD
I know tiredness makes my random aches worse
๐ŸŽœ Why does my heart, feel so bad, why does my soul, feel so sad? ๐ŸŽ

This will happen I'm afraid
Net neutrality will be gone in the US
The FCC's a hack, collective of lawyers. Ask them what HTTPS stands for and you're not gonna get an answer.

@DanielBischof The answer is more than one HTTP, right?

@DanielBischof Well, it's under Trump that this is happening. The FCC as an institution isn't really to blame. Trump opposes anything that's bad for business.

+hurr durr terrorists are going to have a tougher time hurr durr 'murica* is pretty much the killing argument
Yes, it's basically a group of HTTPs
You need these since your browser has several tabs, thus several https are needed
jokes on me, didn't realize you were smart kids

The argument is that net neutrality is bad for business because it limits telco business models, and we need big business for a strong America. America First!
I just freaking hate Trump.
The FCC was doing just fine before Trump was elected.

Thing is, I don't even think he has bad intentions. It's just packaged in a complete lunatic
Of course he kinda cares about the country, security etc. But after all, he's a businessman.
I'm not sure what people expected, when was 'yeah, he knows how to build and lead businesses' ever a good reason for 'oh that guy is going to be a good president'?
One of you from the US?

8:43 PM
Not I, though I do enjoy my internet neutral.

By the way, I think I somehow figured my interface-problem out with annoying my vpn provider's support long enough. At least I think so. :D
Still not sure but neither my IP nor my DNS nor WebRTC nor any other stuff is leaking anywhere so erm.. I guess, safe
Haha, speaking of which, that's going to be kind of a must now in the US
Although... no, since most likely the routes from these businesses are just as affected
feck.

huh?
@bwDraco lol nah they weren't
2 ? leaders ago, they were looking at licencing ALL drone pilots, regardless of drone size
and net nutrality too
it started far before trump
@DanielBischof cept it seems a lot of his 'good business' is hiding stuff

Fully agree
Yeah he's a hack.

@djsmiley2k Obama supported net neutrality and the FCC listened to the people. Under Trump, this isn't happening, and in fact, Trump has been resorting to political strong-arm tactics that I have not seen from other Presidents to force the Cabinet and government agencies to do his bidding.

@bwDraco go back further

8:52 PM
@djsmiley2k Eh I had a question earlier about my VPN setting. It seems to work but my WAN interface has more traffic than my TUN interface and I couldn't figure out why. Still don't fully understand why but I'm somehow not leaking anything anywhere, so.. well.

when was Obama's term?
@DanielBischof oh i kinda saw
basically your vpn client should have a setting for 'route everything over vpn'

Barack Hussein Obama II was President from 2008 to 2016.

I'm using openvpn on LEDE, so no 'easy switch'

TBH, Obama was a far better President than Trump.

Oh massively agree
but this thing isn't on trump really
btw the net nutrality stuff seems to have started late 2013
from what I recall Obama went 'errr no'
and the FCC backed off, changed leaders
trump came in

8:55 PM
> By the 1990s, some U.S. politicians began to express concern over protecting the Internet:

How can government ensure that the nascent Internet will permit everyone to be able to compete with everyone else for the opportunity to provide any service to all willing customers? Next, how can we ensure that this new marketplace reaches the entire nation? And then how can we ensure that it fulfills the enormous promise of education, economic growth and job creation?
โ€”โ€‰Al Gore, 1994,

they changed leaders agian, back to one who's pro (and used to work for AT&T or something?)

There were some failings, e.g. "Obamacare" was less than perfect in several key ways, but his policies were generally good for America.

> In early 2005, in the Madison River case, the FCC for the first time showed willingness to enforce its network neutrality principles by opening an investigation about Madison River Communications, a local telephone carrier that was blocking voice over IP service. Yet the FCC did not fine Madison River Communications.

The investigation was closed before any formal factual or legal finding and there was a settlement in which the company agreed to stop discriminating against voice over IP traffic and to make a $15,000 payment to the US Treasury in exchange for the FCC dropping its inquiry.
See, it's been argued about for a long time.

True, true.

since the beginings of the internets tbh

8:57 PM
Regulatory capture is a big issue with agencies like the FCC, and Presidents from both parties have always had trouble dealing with capture.

'capture?

Regulatory capture is a form of government failure that occurs when a regulatory agency, created to act in the public interest, instead advances the commercial or political concerns of special interest groups that dominate the industry or sector it is charged with regulating. When regulatory capture occurs, the interests of firms or political groups are prioritized over the interests of the public, leading to a net loss to society as a whole. Government agencies suffering regulatory capture are called "captured agencies". == Theory == For public choice theorists, regulatory capture occurs because...
The moment you try to enact a policy that special interests don't like, they slam on the phones and you risk losing millions of dollars in campaign contributions. Even physical threats are not unheard of.

you mean like.... electing a business man...

In the United States, net neutrality has been an issue of contention among network users and access providers since the 1990s. In 2015 the FCC classified broadband as a Title II communication service with providers being "common carriers", not "information providers". Until 2015, there were no clear legal protections requiring net neutrality. Throughout 2005 and 2006, corporations supporting both sides of the issue zealously lobbied Congress. Between 2005 and 2012, five attempts to pass bills in Congress containing net neutrality provisions failed. Each sought to prohibit Internet service providers...

Stuff like plague is now "you need a course of antibiotics" rather than "we need to burn down your entire village"
Bubonic plague is extremely rare here in the US, and has never been reported in NYC.

I'll go off, I have to prepare some stuff for work
Have a good night

Beavers carry TB tho

There was a close call in 1944, though: foxtrotalpha.jalopnik.com/…
(the last known case was in 2002 and the infection actually occurred in New Mexico)

> And here we are, in 2017, in danger of another bacterial disease linked to rats called leptospirosis. Already in New Yorkโ€™s Bronx borough, the disease has killed one person and left two others clinging to life.
> Plague rats were found in New York Harbor for the second time early in January of 1943. Among themselves, health officials refer to this discovery as โ€œthe Wyoming matter.โ€

@trlkly That would be Doki-Doki Literature Club. It is a visual novel that was recently covered by a varied group of streamers (Including GTLive!) - it starts off as a very pink, lovey-dovey romance but then takes an abrupt left turn into absolute creepiness and meta-horror halfway through it. It is not a game for the faint of heart, by no means. — T. Sar yesterday

@Bob did you know there's a hidden cat collection game in Android 7?
