Hmm. My first thought is that decimal-as-thousands-separator looks way weirder to me than the non-US spellings of words, but I'd have to think more before making a judgment
Yes, commas please.
The primary disadvantage is that it makes them harder to read for folks who use different languages or locales, where commas are actually decimals [...]
I don't see how getting people understand such formatting can do any harm, as surely such formatting is not unique to ...
The sites (except the localized/language ones) are English, so we wouldn't allow Spanish text, and numbers in Chinese characters should be Arabic-ified, so maybe that's a reason to comma-as-separator-ify numbers
(my Internet is currently dropping packets and generally being slow, so apologies if I duplicate messages)
@Bob I have a user that is having trouble getting to part of a site, and that's the way the URL is laid out in the HTML. For myself, and any other user it's just https://example.com. So I'm trying to work out why her computer is showing her :80
@TOWMN AT&T has already shut down 2G service here. If I set my phone to 2G only mode, I get no service at all, not even the ability to make voice calls.
@ThatBrazilianGuy Yea, normally. For this user, it disconnected her from the VPN, uninstalled the old version, and then couldn't install the new VPN software. :|
Some rackmounts approach 80 dBA. Even if you sleep far from the server, expect to get a noise violation ticket if you're running it in an apartment and don't spend some time soundproofing it.
Let's say I'm running it in a separate, closed room which won't bother me or others. However, I kinda feel the noise will still leak into neighboring units...
@bwDraco depends a lot on insulation -- we have a bunch of ridiculously noisy 2U and 3U servers at work in a miniature datacenter (it's the size that a typical bathroom + shower would be, plus maybe 20% longer on two sides of the rectangle) and you can't hear a single thing when you're outside the room with the door closed
the higher pitched the sound, though, the less mass it takes to absorb the sound... by contrast, very low frequency vibrations will go right through the wall
@allquixotic old (c. 2004 last release) MS COM API for sending emails. Used from VB6, maybe VBScript, VBA...
Just curious if you've ever used it
> The CDO Library requires installation of MAPI and of an automation controller. An automation controller is an application that supports Automation, such as the following Microsoft applications:
Microsoft® Visual Basic® 3.0 or later Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications Microsoft® Access version 2.0 or later Microsoft® Excel version 5.0 or later Microsoft® Project version 4.0 or later Microsoft Visual C++ version 1.5 or later
(I must pay this cost out of pocket; it will not be reimbursed by my parents. The funds are there, but I kinda feel there are better ways to invest $300.)
Ugh, I hate dealing with our legacy product so. much. O___o Now there is some weird issue and I need to set up an entire test environment which I hadn't planned for today :P
And it's all because of an issue we worked really hard to not have in the new product. So this is additionally frustrating :P
I'm from India. I bought a Hp 15-ay106ne laptop through my uncle from Abu Dubai on 01-01-2017.
After a week I noticed that it didn't charge 100%.
After 15 days I noticed that it suddenly shuts down when it's charging reaches 15% without any notification about plug-in.
After few days it shuts down...
Part of the UAE. > The constituent emirates are Abu Dhabi (which serves as the capital), Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras al-Khaimah, Sharjah and Umm al-Quwain.
It was an error in the character encoding, the symbol used was an “em dash” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dash) which doesn’t display properly in HTML without the correct character encoding. I have replaced it with a Hyphen (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyphen) which doesn’t need any special encoding. The problem occurred because I had copied the text from a Word document which auto-corrects hyphens to dashes and at first glance the two characters look identical (see the attached image).
Ok, they're fundamentally a pretty simple idea. A DHT gives you a dictionary-like interface, but the nodes are distributed across the network. The trick with DHTs is that the node that gets to store a particular key is found by hashing that key, so in effect your hash-table buckets are now indepe...
@DavidPostill thank you david for the help..i'll add that answer in my seminar..but there is one thing i'm trying to find out..are DHT nodes the one who shares data among peers let's say in torrent?
@DavidPostill thank you..this is what i was looking for..DHT nodes are actually the seeds which offer full file downloads..a DHT consists of these nodes and these nodes contain peers which are downloading the file
@djsmiley2k You're sure you deleted the driver instead of just uninstalling the device? There's a checkbox for that in the uninstall confirmation dialog
