Poor Human Rights, but What Abbout dog/carmt Rights?

$50-250 fine for littering here in NYC is not enough.
I think community service ought to be mandatory for repeat offenders, like in Singapore.

@Annaduh Carmt rights are greatly underrepresented.

...okay, so it looks like the penalty for a first offense (within a 12-month period) is $75. We need to raise this to closer to $200.
S$300 for a first offense in Singapore is much better.
From what I can tell, updated legislation is in the works.

hey guys
this is a bit weird i reached the limit but i can still chat
altough i cant play a music cd which i burned by moving the files. and ps2 wants me to put a ps format cd
is it thinking that that is a ps2 cd even tough it doesnt know the format?
hello?

@watonis that's not how audio CDs work iirc

@JourneymanGeek I have no idea what he's on about but I get the idea you're right

1 hour later…
2:48 AM
Fuck, someone has given me a disease again

3:06 AM
Halp. I haz cat flu

so any super organized person wanna show off how they organize their files on their computer

I will give someone actual money if they can find Corsair Dominator Platinum 2 x 4 GB 1333MHZ DDr3 online

how will you give us the dough

paypal
like I'm serious find me this RAM and you get $10

and if we find a better one
like 1600MHz or something

3:20 AM
My motherboard might not be able to handle it

also what if its 2 8 GB sticks
still interested?

nope
This is why Im paying money
I cant find it

nope

wait...

3:24 AM
dominator platinum :P

no platnium
you sure there is even a platinum that goes at 1333

believe me I've been looking for HOURS
I have it in my system XD
so yes

you have a picture of those sticks

whatya mean

picture, they sound like theyre on the older end but there might be useful info that makes a search possible

3:27 AM
let me take one one sec
Well um
Im an ass
my memory is 1866 XDDD

heh

its running at 1333 for some reason :/

yepyep

man, think of all that time i saved you with a little suggestion =P

3:30 AM
<33333333333333

its almost more valuable then the time you would waste hunting for a RAM that doesnt exist
@David wouldnt you agree =P

XDDDD

Higher speed ram is for memory overclocks
but meh, fancy ram is a waste of money

meaning?

@JourneymanGeek I ended up getting a limited edition ram from kingston same price, so I figured why not

3:36 AM
There's a few situations where high frequency ram is handy - for example if you have an APU
but in most cases, go cheap, go lots ;)

what about undervolting

@JourneymanGeek
could you recommend some good 2 x 4 gbs that run around 1866/if I have 1866 in my PC does other ram need to be 1866?

i think they all just need to run at the same

@David depends who you ask

but not have to be the same

3:39 AM
Matching ram is good for dual/triple channel

does CPU limit how fast memory can run at all?

eh, kinda sorta

@JourneymanGeek btw, is that a featurie of the board, the RAM, or both

Modern CPUs have on die ram controllers
@Skyler the board/memory controller

so you can grab 6 sticks of basically any of the same ram and get triple channel

3:40 AM
I've got a very not modern processor

in a 6 port comp

In theory if you match voltage (essential), timings and CAS latency settings you should be fine
@Skyler practially, yeah
@David If you want to play it safe, get the same ram

its 70 bucks for the same RAM

When you build your next PC, keep in mind what I said ;p

kk :P

3:42 AM
sounds pretty normal pricewise for 8GB right Journey?

._.
the platinum is cheaper
@Skyler I'm out of touch, pricewise
I'm 2-3 years away from my next build

by same ram you dont mean same exact?

@JourneymanGeek last time i bought ram was in 2011

Cuz i'm good with platiunm

@David the exact same ram seems to be cheaper
so... go for it ;p

3:43 AM
im good with my 12 GB, though I have almost hit 93% utilization before
while not gaming mind you

..... My brother's using my bathroom. Why do I hear the noises of things falling over?

just ram creep from browsers

@Skyler desktop has 16, about half of it is cache and standby tho
I nearly built this thing with 32

@JourneymanGeek I switched out my laptops for 16 GB from 4 only to figure it doesnt support it
I had gone down to visit family for thanksgiving break and had to live off an ubuntu livedrive

@Skyler My 'standard' laptops now are 8gb

3:45 AM
that barely worked

minimal is 1-2

i actually blue screened (on windows) and couldnt boot (on ubuntu) when i went from 16 to 8 GB
(ala removed one stick)
even though that laptop should support 8 GB, I guess its only 2 x 4

heh. Both my 'modern' laptops are 2x4
one's mismatched tho

Journey it's out of stock ;-;

My mom had dropped the 16 GB laptop

3:47 AM
I upgraded my newer NUC from 2x1 to 2x4, moved the 2x1 to my old NUC (kinda - its the third one of the model I've owned) and moved the 4gb from that to my x220.

heard from across the house

@JourneymanGeek is it VITALLY NECESSARY to get the same memory?

hmm
No?
You'd loose out on a TINY bit of performance

so putting those 2400s in there would be okay with the 1866s?

ya
its essentially the same ram

3:50 AM
coolio

grumbles about too many damned SKUs
and lol, if you end up wanting to pay me, please donate to a local animal shelter :)

i luv animals

Nope. That's me my roomie
He's 11

I just had to put down my cat today :(
Poor baby had a cancerous tumor in her mouth

4:46 AM
how does your pet react when you show his friends on TV?

for some reason he dosen't care for dogs on TV ;p
He prefers how its made

Q: Would covering walls with a sound absorbing foam reduce the transmission of medium-high frequency fan noise?

petrI have recently purchased a server-grade computer, which works great, however, it is now audible even through a closed door. It is in a separate room, so I am thinking what are the best ways of sound-proofing it. Does covering the walls with a sound-absorbing foam make sense? My plan is to co...

A Dell PowerEdge 2950 generates about 70-72 dBA. Not only is this loud, if you're in a quiet neighborhood or an apartment building, but it's loud enough that you can conceivably get a noise complaint filed against you.

7:58 AM
Some rackmounts approach 80 dBA. Even if you sleep far from the server, expect to get a noise violation ticket if you're running it in an apartment and don't spend some time soundproofing it.
Even if you put it in another room and block out some of the noise within your unit, someone else in the building might very well be affected badly by noise.

@JourneymanGeek Yeah
Hence why I'm pointing it out in case you object. I think it preserves the intent of the original, but adds quite a bit you might not agree with

Also, if it the bounty were still up, I'd be annoyed and demand you post your own bounty ;p
As is though, yeah, it adds to the answer

about 35 systems?

1:54 PM
About 70
(Whivh was a real quick and dirty count, I might be off by 10)

i got about 79

I suspect the squares are networks too?
ah no
terminal servers

ok 79 nodes

Hi!

7:24 PM
@HackToHell Why not?
And since my oppinion of Java is not all that high, did you try with an IPv6 address of a IP v4 address on non a.b.c.d. dotted format (e.g. just as a single decimal number)

7:39 PM
Hey guys
I got some issues in some GP's can anyone give a hand ?

Group Policy?

8:16 PM
Yes

What's up?

Since 10 came up and mandatory profiles are just not doable 100% I got lucky creating one from sysprep
It's functioning well but I couldn't customize it cause some customization requires restarts and you cannot edit the MAN file or it will be corrupted
So I'm tweaking It through GPO now every time a user logs in
There's only Microsoft edge pinned in start menu I made a Ps script to unpin it ... and I deployed it via gpo on the users login but it's not deploying / working when the users logs in
It's driving me nuts .. the policy execution is unrestricted and I've tried it on user level and computer leve
Still no luck in running when a user logs in ... any suggestions ? Could it be the UAC stopping it from running ?

Does the PowerShell script run at all? You can test that by having it write to some file somewhere and then looking for that file

Yes it runs perfectly
On any PC even mine

If you run the unpinning command normally, does that work?

8:23 PM
Yea that's what I meant it unpins it
Even on the machines I'm trying to deploy it on if I run it manually it runs smoothly

Ah. Are you sure the PowerShell script is running at user logon?

It's not running that is the issue

Oh. How exactly did you set the script as the logon script?

From the gpmc > scripts > new scripts ( I already added it to sysvol folder ) I browsed for it selected it and added it from powershell tab and chose to run on user logon

Is there a place to add extra arguments to PowerShell? If so, try adding -executionpolicy bypass

8:36 PM
But execution policy is set to unrestricted via gpo I created but I will surely try that tomorrow when I hit the office

There's also the option of a traditional script that launches powershell.exe with the path to the script file

I need to look at that I don't think I've seen it before

8:49 PM
Pinning in the Win10 Start Menu via GPO or Script is a nightmare. The last place I saw that did it was doing it in some real hacky way.

9:07 PM
Trust me when you work with mandatory profiles on windows 10 that's not the only nightmare lol

9:20 PM
whats a mandatory profile?
at my work we have w10

> A mandatory user profile is a roaming user profile that has been pre-configured by an administrator to specify settings for users. Settings commonly defined in a mandatory profile include (but are not limited to): icons that appear on the desktop, desktop backgrounds, user preferences in Control Panel, printer selections, and more. Configuration changes made during a user's session that are normally saved to a roaming user profile are not saved when a mandatory user profile is assigned.

if anyone moves machine, it can take like an hour to pull down a profile :/
just soooooooo slow
oh i see

You log in, you get the mandatory profile.

so it's instead of a roaming profile?

Every. Single. Time.
Yes.

9:21 PM
read only profile...
right
could you not just gpo the hell outta the users instead
let them have their 'roaming' profile, which has permissions for nothing
no looking at the calendar, etc ;D
Always made me laugh when a user couldn't click the clock to get to the calendar due to permissions

Lol
Well I work in a university and there are lots of students
If everyone of them came to me telling me he messed up Microsoft word I wouldn't go back home for dinner .. simply log out login
And yes login time on w10 is Kinda slow idk why .. first login after restart or boot from shutdown takes 2 min approx next login after takes 35 to 45 seconds
But it's a peace of mind

it works when they don't need the ability to customise anything

9:43 PM
Well not to mention they are kids so they always and constantly try to wreck the system this profile helps me keep things in order too

1 hour later…

@Hennes ...looks like a US socket
frowny face
also pretty sure the UK one has horizontal recangles for the non-ground pins

oh, that explains everything.
I means, ah, that is why the off/on switch is missing.

10:59 PM
@Hennes It looks dangerous, but it lasted long enough for someone to smash the wall down first...

It looks terrible.

how stable is ts compared to mumble? I never have issues with mumble.

Bob
@MichaelFrank @Hennes Notice the grounds aren't connected...

@WHATEVERDave Not my place, though I got a bad wall outlet to at home. I pulled a cord out of it and the socket came loose from the wall.
Aye. I noticed.

Bob
@WHATEVERDave idk, I usually use mumble
depends on the server, I guess. client's pretty stable.

@Bob oh jeez.. I didn't even see that.

they have a client for android, i was considering trying to set up a ts server just to see how well it performed on my moto z.
i know plumble (mumble for android) supports overlay and opus codec, etc.. its pretty nice.
check that out
@Hennes: Im considering moving out of my place, the landlord sucks. The house is in horribe shape.
Our landlord is soo bad, you should see the tile work that they recently did to the bathrooms.
Supposedly the landlord does tile work for his business.

Into this:

niceee

And for a bonus, to edit the boot logo into anything I want ;p

is it still using the modified firmware?

Just waiting to my phone to finish charging and then I'll brick it test it

Oh it is..
Too bad android pay wont work on it now though.
:(

11:50 PM
Yeah, there's a (physical, IIRC) flag that gets permanently flagged when the bootloader is unlocked.

yeah a fuse probably

Also, to get the unlock code, you have to provide your IMEI and SSN-equivalent to Motorola, so they have the phone on a global database shared to repair centers (you lose the warranty)

yeah, too bad they only provide keys to international phones

I don't want the warranty back, just to get rid of the annoying screen.

but yeah.. ive seen it ;)

11:52 PM
@WHATEVERDave Really? Now that you mention it, I think I recall someone saying it here

I think they're still doing international only but it was only international last time i checked unless they recently changed it.
I know my phone has the ability to allow unlocking of the bootloader.

Bob
@ThatBrazilianGuy They can refuse to provide voluntary warranty, but this does not absolve them of any warranty obligations under law.

@WHATEVERDave No, not a modded firmware, I just unlocked the bootloader properly according to the official Motorola procedures, then installed TeamWin recovery and rooted the retail stock rom.

Bob
Read: if your country's law says so, they still need to fix stuff they broke/misbuilt

@Bob Yeah, I suppose so. However, I chose to wait for the warranty to expire prior to unlocking the bootloader.
@Bob Meh. Too much work. Bureaucracy levels in Brazil are kafkaesque++

Bob
11:54 PM
@ThatBrazilianGuy yea, was thinking more of EU, AU, etc.

@WHATEVERDave Really? Android Pay won't work on rooted phones, on custom ROMs or on any bootloader-unlocked device? 0_o

yep wont work :/ they verify the integrity of the rom on a block level

@Bob It probably also applies to Brazil, but probably it'd take me more time to get the official statement than the duration of the whole warranty, if experience serves me right.

you could probably factory image it and it will work again..

Bob
@WHATEVERDave ...unless you patch the Pay binaries :P

11:55 PM
perhaps*

Bob
@ThatBrazilianGuy tbh I have absolutely no idea of what Brazil's laws are, so...

@Bob: There may be a xposed module of some sort that does some hackery.. but it hasnt been updated in a very long time.

@WHATEVERDave No, I mean, I have the original, unmodded ROM on the phone. I just unlocked the bootloader and installed a new recovery (which I have the original and can re-apply).

Never could get android pay to work on my phone once i rooted my phone.

@Bob I suspect it would hold in court. But it's irrelevant to me as of now, because my warranty already expired.

Bob
11:57 PM
@WHATEVERDave root detection is different from unlock detection though

@ThatBrazilianGuy: Install android pay, you'll see right away when you try to install it if it will run or not anymore.

Bob
unless you mean after reflashing?

@Bob: true.

@WHATEVERDave There's temporary unroot apps, and SuperSU can deny root and pretend it's unrooted IIRC

@ThatBrazilianGuy: Well install android pay , let me know how it works for ya.
Im curious.

11:58 PM
@WHATEVERDave Truth to be told, Android Pay is practically unheard of in Brazil so all this talk is for nothing the future.
NFC payment is also in really really really early stages and equally rare

Or maybe I'm just misinformed.

Bob
@ThatBrazilianGuy tap and pay?
it's basically everywhere here by now :\
then again the US barely has chip and pin
