just how many things do you have in programs and features uninstall?
for the most part you can uninstall every item in there, then re-install only nessisary things like Re-distributals needed to run programs when they complain about it. any program that then crashes or fails to operate with things gone, you just find out the dependencies for it and reinstall

There were ways back some to keep stuff like that from happening again.
Trace the installs, with an unistaller program, they will more thourougly uninstall progams and parts and pieces.

Have cloned your system partition, prior to an install:
If you keep a nice tight OS partition, and put your "Data" instead on other disks or partitions, then a "image file" of that system can be made easily and of a managable size.
So you can have images like , Clean Install , Pre - installing some game , preinstalling programs that put a LOT of junk in the registry.

Back with the backup stuff, If you (even this late) make a Clone , or Clone Image of it, you could reek havoc without thinking, and always bring it back.

Managing them, would be to uninstall specific sets , after discovering what they are used for, then possibly re-instaling one reditributable instead of 6 versions.
Some programs install and properly use ONLY the one version, because todays MS system that prevents "dll hell" Each program could use a versioned distributable.

So some programs will use the one installed by other programs, and some other program will in-so-much as crash or error when the special one they wanted is not there.

@David yea you could get a fear of bricking, from uninstalling the wrong things, like MS updates to the OS, they don't always Uninstall correctally. very low likely that you couldn't get all the way into the OS , after removing sub-system parts and pieces

@allquixotic Pretty sure Skyrim SE would crash by the time you got to 100 GB of memory use, and it would probably be CPU-bound.

I doubt the game would be very stable past 20-30 GB of RAM use.

Most modern games are designed to run within 8 GB of system RAM, but will often perform better with 16 GB.
