5:05 PM
@SimonSheehan I haven't watched it yet...

@studiohack I was amused :p

I just saw it on the HTG, and the first few seconds, then posted it... I'll watch it, just need a moment :P
life outside of SU - like feeding the dog :P

@studiohack It needs audio "You! i was about to make a snipe on e-bay" " Oh crap I almost made it to level 14" , "Jacka-- I was about to get her phone number" , "Dam I had a full house on the poker tourny" , "Was I the only one working?"

I think Google just rolled out an update
On Gmail, on the side, you can now see online Google+ contacts

5:21 PM
back later, time for some NFS Run.

@Sathya Enjoy! Looks like a fun game

@SimonSheehan it is, and a bit underrated, tbh. Sure there are technical glitches but a fun game.

@Sathya Sweet, my brothers been looking at it
I've sort of been playing Call of Duty 4 for the past few days, again

5:45 PM
@studiohack Nice! +1*

@Luke what - feeding my dog? LOL

No, the video

@Luke oh, okay, I wondered haha. thanks!

6:33 PM
The one thing I hate about Saturdays... The room is full but everyone is away having a life

not me. well...sorta. tv/homework & being a secretary ;P

Secretary, homework AND TV?

well @Luke... not all at once. just what I'm gonna try and do today :P

OK OK

lol, you @Luke?

6:44 PM
@studiohack I'm at work, but the only one inside... It's a blizzard out right now, we just got over a week of -40 to now -15 today but a shitload of snow

@Luke where you at?
and awesome on the temps, btw. in Celsius, right?
we got a bunch of snow, like 3 inches overnight, but it's melted after a few days
and temps were around -20

Celcius, right. I'm at work, DDR Computers
And it's so far been 17 inches of snow

@Luke I meant, where in the wide world :)

I'm tired, I was up late last night :P Lol

@Luke wow!

6:46 PM
I'm in Northern BC, Canada

@Luke ah no worries ;)
@Luke near Alaska?

You're in the states, aren't you?

yeah @Luke
western US

I'm about a 12 hour drive from Alaska. I'm in Prince George, about an hour east of the geographical center of BC. But we're called the Northern Capital

where I live is quite remote as well... but I like it a lot. I would like to visit/live in Canada sometime

6:49 PM
Wish I could say the same about the states, but there've been too many reports of Canadians getting law-fucked by border patrol. IE-snooping through our cell phones and computers if we give them permission, or having our vehicles ripped apart if we refuse AFTER we cross the border
Are you in WA?

@Luke that sounds rough :(
not Washington @Luke
have you been to the US? @Luke?

Which state?
I went across the border with my dad almost 10 years ago then turned around... Just so I could say yes
But I also can't enter the states until I get a new passport... I went to Cuba

@Luke but that's it? lol- you'd like Montana - been to Glacier Park?
@Luke you can guess or check out my profile for a hint, I usually keep it private

Not in America, but I have in Ft Nelson (about 4 hours from AK)
Wait
Is AK Alaska?
I mean Alaska

@Luke yeah
AK = Alaska

6:53 PM
Woohoo! I know my states!

@Luke haha :) my mom has been to Prince Edward Island
but I haven't been to Canada... would like to

I wanna go back east, they have lots of fun there :)
Remember when flying to wear a bikini so you don't get strip searched

@Luke lol. I understand why people are so frustrated, and yet at the same time, I don't blame security... it's hard

One of the founding fathers said "Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
Ben Franklin
I don't believe that the extra security is preventing anything

@Luke good point... frankly, I think that we could learn a big lesson from Israel, how they deal with their security. I read a very informative article a while back about how they have the best security in the world, and yet, do much better than we do

7:01 PM
Where they are just trained to talk to everyone?

@Luke pretty much
and how they deal with bomb threats

It's great when they can do that. It would make people want to fly more

7:56 PM
WHO LOVES INSTALLING ALL OF WINDOWS VISTA'S UPDATES, RAISE YOUR HAND!
Well, if you got time to...

puts hand under chair

So... F***ing... SLOW

@Luke I don't install Vista;s updates, they come running to me. ba-dum-tish
hides

@Sathya Wow

@Luke on a more serious note, they do :P get pushed bu group policy when I'm not around

8:19 PM
@Luke Updating the system might not be Sooo bad, if there wasnt the added benefit of getting to update 100 programs Also. I use so many programs and some infrequentaly. with todays "send them the beta and fix it later" routines , I never actually do use my computer, I just update it. I guess it beats waiting 5 years for them to put out a program with no bugs :-)

We've been in Windows Beta since WIndows 98... Windows Update
If it was perfect software, they wouldn't need to update it :P

@Luke The software that is simple , I do not update it, if it works, it works, if I have a special need I might read about how many bugs the new version has, and try it. BUT , with everything connecting internally to parts and pieces of the system, and connecting to the web, a Bug can also be a security risk. so the more complex it is, the more cloud based it is, the worse the situation becomes.
update or die, as the servers change, as the links die, as the holes are found, as the features of interlinking are exploited.
I see that someday
People will begin to say
Why the heck did we do it that way

8:37 PM
Save money and hand our information over to "cloud providers"

@Luke that was mentioned as a solution by MS and apple at times, the solution is to have everything run from the web, where all the changes will be kept perfect out there in cloud land. I think it just would logrythmatically increase the same problems they are trying to solve.

8:55 PM
Exactly!
One system goes down, they all do!
Well, not quite
One SET of systems go down, they all do

@Luke I was thinking that someday the "web" itself would go down, hard and for long, say 18 hours? and everyone would re-think high reliance on it for local operation.
the system is amazing and redundant , and stays running better than i would have ever imagined.
Of course it being invulnerable, Watching our every move wisferry.com/web-cam (web cams) , Being used to diagnose medical conditions symptoms.webmd.com , having built in facial recognitions celebrity.myheritage.com/FP/Company/try-face-recognition.php , and learning the worst things society brings en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kill_'Em_All.
Having access to BioMetric data on everyone , being able to Text swat to a location, pcworld.com/businesscenter/article/240405/… Having everyones bank accounts and credit accounts on file, and even thier credit reports
Drone planes and rockets connected via sattalite to computers, GPS location, and location tracking, now adding in cell and web based location tracking. Not that a drone pcworld.com/article/241507/… could ever get infected with a virus :-)
The U.S. military makes extensive use of computers in every environment – land, sea and air. More importantly, wireless technology allows computer systems to be linked together to give field commanders a complete picture of what is happening, down to the squad level. . . . networkusa.org/…
All together it makes those Surealistic movies , with computer takeovers, and computer operating terrorists and mafia, or computer based evil goverments, a simple matter of pushing a few buttons. The Paper Man.

10:27 PM
@Psycogeek But those buttons must first come into existance, which is not that simple.

10:40 PM
Our freakin' till just went down... Hard drive issue. Cable was ripped somehow

@TomWijsman did you see the movie Paper man? it was the 70's now all the stuff is in place to create scenarios like that.
I think they should re-make Paper man, using actual real technology that we have today, it would be a sucessfull movie if it had a good script

11:03 PM
@Psycogeek I'm intrigued... Paperman?

imdb.com/title/tt0067551 While it has a good rating, it is still very retro.

Looks kinda good... I may need to check it out

11:48 PM
