@RobinHood I think you edit the tag. I'll try to dig up the standard edit in a bit, not having much luck there
01:35
Firefox 32 won't install on XP x64 SP1, FirefoxPortable 32 works fine. Yet another reason why portable apps rule. :)
@RobinHood: and XP x64 was an ugly, transitional hack ;p

A: What's wrong with Dr Seuss?

tobyinkWhat's wrong with Dr Seuss he asked? To find an answer, I've been tasked. His books on cats are widely read, In libraries, schools, or just in bed. Is it because he writes such blubber that turns a child's tongue into rubber? Nonsense words and silly rhymes Confusing children at bedtimes. Or ma...

03:46
I agree that XP x64 wasn't the worlds greatest OS, but appearance wise I still prefer it over Unity/Gnome3/Metro etc.
@RobinHood I was thinking under the hood ;p
@JourneymanGeek That stuff is all beyond me, as is what's under a real hood.
@RobinHood: basically they shoehorned in the server 2k3 kernel into XP as a stopgap
and it had terrible driver support
Anything more modern would probably be better
In later drives support got better though.
drivers*
I run in it a vm now, but I used to have a native install back when I had a big machine.
lol
I might be consolidating some of my physical machines to my brix when I can be arsed.
"big machine" ?
shouldn't it be the other way around?
03:55
under the hood it occured just like a automobile, from a simple combustion engine that worked to a nightmare of interconnected stuff , that runs just as fast, and gets the same MPG but can never be returned back to the can of worms it came from.
I had a multibooted custom desktop before.
now a laptop
I use like a desktop
@Psycogeek So it's probably a good thing I don't look under there then.
@RobinHood the people who made it (parts of it) would not fully understand it all.
What OS do you like to use?
un-related to previous statements.
i liked XP a lot, but had to upgrade for hardware sake. Although if i had ever had 64bit (ability for more memory) i may have stayed with it longer.
On the other hand i also must stay "current" so that becaomes another reason to keep going into the pit of complicated messes and porer programming Method.
I have Windows 8 on my laptop, but I knew before buying it that I preferred Windows 7. I was so mad when the drivers for 8 didn't work on 7, which prevented me from downgrading.
04:04
Yea some people will keep saying "it is all still comopatable" but whatever THEY DO on the computer read e-mail go on the web and watch yousatube , they seem to be oblivious to the loads of hardware out there, and stuff you can plug in and all.
I don't think people really realize you have to check for compatibility of parts until they actually try and replace something.
it is therfore good to assemble the team as it is intended to come. (we didnt make this for linux , so thats your problem etc)
like firewire , indeed obsolete but did anybody ASK :-) it is just Gone , like nobody ever cared about it to begin with.
why they spend 2 years telling us how wonderfull it is, and 2 years later it is just dropped off the boards
I've only used a firewire once, but that was because my schools growing up were very pro-mac.
what if they dumped USB :-) want to see people get mad .
that would only leave thundebolt.
my spelling is aweful tonight.

04:14
oh sorry that has been (too slow) replaced by thunderbolt, get an adapter, and good luck with getting it to work.
plus aren't they adapters for usb to thunderbolt highly expensive?
Now we have Sata Express :-) cool, how did they even test that, when there arent any sata express drives out?
SATAe? I must be falling behind on the times. The e seems to have moved from one side of the word to another.
but none of this has really changed, Intel had "instruction sets" on thier processors that would speed up the world, it took about 5 years before these instruction sets were used (for the stuff needing them). but lukily they stayed.
sata express is 10G/S vrses 6, and uses the same connector, but like other things is more direct to the processor (for speed).
as long as it uses the same connector I'm happy.
04:21
we get to trip over all the new technology as it evolves into a working item slowly. which would not be so bad if it then did not dissapear again.
so for OSes i far prefer the 2nd edition of them, let someone else experiment and fail, i would rather have it when solid. I assume for 8 that would be 8.1?
I haven't updated to 8.1 yet.
I have a 8.1 installatio in a vm though
There's like zero reasons not to upgrade to 8.1.
I like to image my system, in order to upgrade I have restore my pc back to clean image, use my slow internet to download a massive update file, install it, re-image my system, and then re-install everything to create my various image stages. It's a lot of work.
if I was familiar with what's under the hood it might seem more worth it, but for someone like me all is see is a startmenu button.
re-install, the answer to all fails :-) which would be fine if it didnt take me like 2 Weeks to get it all on there and cleaned up and tweaked off and all.
When-ever I do a re-install I forget something, and then it bugs forever.
04:29
If everything was "portable" all files and configuration stuff in one neetly organised folder for the program, then re-set the licence.
instead (under the hood) there is a bloody mess made that for high end programs they are dependant on.
I sorta went the "portable" way once before. I used Symantec Workspace Virtualization to package all my programs. It made re-installs alot quicker.
in the registry, in the appsdata , in the users folders, and strewn about in other places, even including the (toss everything there) the system32 folder with stuff that not only does not require to be there, but does not belong there.
One day someone will design a lovely OS; I'm sure.
I am putting in a new motherboard this month, one one side i am like "piece of cake just re-install" on the other side i should remember what it really takes to get the 150 thing back in there i use (some portable).
what board.
04:35
@RobinHood Microsoft more than once has told programmer to keep the registry more clean, I can tell you for sure they did not listen, including microsoft.
was it you earlier today talking about making toast of a new board?
@RobinHood I have a Asus Hero VI (haswell 1150) and one aspect of it has died so my memory does not work right. So i am going to put a gigabyte z97ud5h thing (same basic thing) in its place.
@RobinHood Oh yea, the new X99 boards with 2011 sockets, a rare few are going up-in-smoke before ever reviewed :-)
It has Sata Express I see.
I figure it would cost me about $2500 to do the 2011 thing to the fullest extent. get the 8core xeon thing. because I Need both single thread speed, and things i do that take time are multithreaded (like encoding).
building a beast.
04:41
the 6&8 core ones are not too badly priced, if you will give up on each of the single core speeds.
But if you want both speed and lotsa cores, well i cant afford that , realistically.
That's the key to building. Anyone can buy the best of the best if they have the money. Building realistically means knowing enough about what you do on the comptuer to decide where you can make cuts. Sounds like you know the drill.
and how soon it will be obsoleted. Which this time (seems like) it is going to take a accident of invention, a outside of the box thought.
Very true. I have a gigabyte i-ram that I've never used because even when I had a desktop to put it in, it doesn't work with newer operating systems.
some stupid mail-clerk at intel will ask a stupid question, and the linear scientists will go Duhh :-)
so SSD or hard drive going in this machine?
04:47
@RobinHood I-Ram is some pci connection ramdisk or something?
there are 2 versions of the i-ram. I have old version which draws power from a pci slot, but connects using sata 1
yes it's a ramdisk
4GB max
some people claim to have 8GB
I was wondering if someday , some person at a electronics recycling location, would say "hey what if we could take all these old ram chips, and a li-ion battery and make something FAST out of them"
hardware ramdisks will never overly catch on, because they are volatile. The business sector doesn't mind em, but end users have little use.
ram is so many more times faster than even 2SSDs in raid 0, but it will indeed not catch on unless we can get $300 1Terrabyte (or something) because it is recycled :-)
It's always so sad when you browse around on sites and see people trying to sell outdated FULLY FUCTIONAL ram for scraping.
I bought an old XP laptop for use as a dvd player, and it only came with 256mb of ram. I was able to upgrade it to 2GB of ram for less than $5, because old ram is so cheap to buy used.
04:57
@RobinHood i am using the samsungs EVO version with 250g the first 30 for the OS, and the rest for the "stuff that didnt need to be on the system disk" partition.
I'm not really a fan of nand-flash SSDs, but I do own one though not as big as that.
I'm obsessed with ram based SSd's (preferably software generated).
as in a regular driver based ram disk?
I"m not sure what you mean?
oh, yes. I thought it said "drive" not "driver".
i spell changed it.
I would love to run my OS from ram. I think that's where technology should be headed, rather than nand which is just a work-around for the real problem.
05:03
I have used ramdisks quite often, now that i had 32G on the computer for long enough to realise it still doesnt much help, i was thinking of converting a full 16G of it over to that use.
Wow, that's a lot of ram. My old computer had 14, but my current only has 8.
for me it is the files that are about 1G work with them a bit, encoding , reading the data, checking audio and all, then eventually they have to return.
They ARE in the OSes system cache, cause i can see them in there, but (as far as i can tell) the video and audio programs are not using them direct out of the system cache?
You mean it's double copying them?
A programmer can decide to have the stuff streamed bypassing said cache. another solution is called a "block cache", 3rd party software that instead of files, it caches blocks of the hard drive.
@RobinHood yea i mean i would work with them 4-6 times, so i would have to put them IN the ram, work with them, then send to storage. Because it still has to go back, i have not done it.
Bob
Bob
@RobinHood Or, you know, don't run outdated OSes. There should be at least a SP2...
@allquixotic o.O
05:10
Asus and gigabyte both had ramdisk drivers that will "Save out on boot" and "reload on startup" but that makes for a long wait.
@Bob I could update to SP2, but I'm not going to do that just so I can install a web browser
( a person can also re-sync manually at any time to insure the data is in non-volitile location)
As someone who used to restore his OS from a ghost backup at each boot, I'm used to long waits
each boot, that would be like one of those freeze program things?
they make library and college computers to work like that, i do not quite understand, but it is locked down.
@Psycogeek No just a hard drive cloning tool.
I also do run disk-protection programs though, like you see on school computers/library computers.
Bob
Bob
05:14
I suspect an XmlLite dependency.
I only utalise clone backup tools in emergency , and to return to cleaner system.
@Bob The potable verison of Firefox works fine, same version as the non-portable
@Psycogeek I used to use a backup/restore program rather than multiboot. I would just restore to switch to a different OS
oh, i use a second whole disk item.
Bob
Bob
@RobinHood shrug
Oh geez speeking of re-install, what are we up to now 200 updates for win 7 :-)
such fun, why you no put out SP2 pack.
05:18
As you can tell I don't often install updates. (no 8.1, no SP2, the list goes on). They really should put out a SP2 for 7.
with linux i suppose we could just DL the whole distro .
Bob
Bob
@RobinHood Neither do I, but I don't run something far enough to go past its EOL.
I hate the update-manager in Ubuntu. On several occasions I've had to uninstall it because it refused to go away even when I adjusted the settings.
Bob
Bob
That's a severe security risk, even disregarding compatibility issues.
@Bob I normally wait for updates to get collected into a service pack then I install it. In this case though I'm just running XP in a vm for fun so it's not worth updating.
Bob
Bob
05:21
@RobinHood In that case, you should install critical security updates at least once every couple months.
Really, ideally as soon as they're out.
Feature/bugfix updates are less important.
@Bob only if your jacked into the matrix :-)
It's not an important VM. I just created it so I could take a stroll down memory lane
Stop superpowers , just turn shit off.
@Psycogeek so true.
Mathew Good's song Garden Of Knives has the most irritating ending ever. Just pulsing guitar, my ears hurt.
I just overclocked a $59 processor to 4.0g :-) but it still only does 1/4th the gigflops of work when asked to.
and the built in gpu :-p
05:28
I've never done any overclocking.
now i remember what slow screen updating looks like, and i will forgive AMD for not working harder on the 2D because this on-die gpu is sad.
Do you do much overclocking?
just to speed my own system, or to Also cool it more , by aquiring all the controls .
like the gpu sucks power and blows heat out , in california the heat is as big a problem as the power we pay .24-.35 for.
I suppose you have some major cooling setup? Water?
no i do not like nor have ever required water (to move the heat 1.2 feet ) but the right really good air cooler instead , lots of mating of surfaces and all.
05:37
I had 10 fans in my old desktop, it made my room really cold in the winter.
I would think about water more if i could pipe the heat out the window 10feet away, but they are not originally designed to accomplish that.
@RobinHood But... The heat still has to go somewhere!
@MichaelFrank It get's cold here in the winter, so the computer doesn't generate enough heat, thuse the fans blew cold air.
Why not disconnect a few fans during the winter months then? :P
Easier to put on blanket, and pretend there's no problem.
<---- Sole cause of global warming. Runs fans when they aren't needed, makes house furnace work harder.
Problem of the past though. I don't have that machine anymore.
05:42
lol we had people running 120,000 BTU campfires in the middle of summer in the campground, because "thats what you do" when camping, it was still 75*
I could not do that, I would faint from the heat.
I don't like summer much, too hot.
what do you mean "running"? They were fake fires?
they were rediculous , i hike out in woods, these places now look like they are paved in ground, with some trees sticking out.
yup yup yup , were going to go enjoy the great outdoors :-) whats left of it afterwards anyways.
As a kid I was cub scout. A few times we went indoor camping, lol.
ahh people used to pack the family in the car and drive 3000 miles across the country, with a car that got maybe 12MPG , so now we got the web :-)
The upside to going to a paved campsite is that you are more likely to be allowed to have a fire. Out in the bush they are always putting on bans.
for good reason, but still irritating.
05:52
pave paradise and put up a parking lot.
The upside to paved landscapes is less bugs.
unless you count volkswagon beetles.
the one true human preditor left
There's a TV show called Survivorman, and in this one episode the guy is on a tropical island. He turns on the camera at night and the groupd is covered with spiders the size of a hand, all running around.
PAVE THERE PLEASE.
and the snakes :-) cold blooded they like to find nice warm places like your sleeping bag.
you just have to be into the sharing principal :-)
I once almost picked up a snake thinking it was a stick. (not a poisonus one though).
My grandmother's place is crawling with little ones in the summer time. They like the rocks.
I've always wondered if that "rope circle" trick to keep snakes away in the night actually works?
05:58
and how does that go? I have heard of the "mark your territory" before to keep bears and cyotes and all out , that one is easy.
I wasn't aware of the mark your territory thing. I suppose that makes sense though.
the rope trick, supposedly you lay a rope around your sleeping area, and snakes will stay way thinking it's another snake.
oh
well birds were dumb enough to think that the garden hose i left on the roof was a danger.
I'm not sure I'd want to lay my life to a rope, hence why I don't climb either.
Testing for leaks?
after spraying off the bird crap one more time, i left the hose up there (out of pure lazyness), and they quit gathering there.
Whatever keeps em away.
they all go land on your neighbors house lol :P
06:03
the 30lbs of bird crap made the lawn greener than any fetalizer ever bought :-)
wait, what if it is snake breeding season?
Then it goes back to your previous mention of being in a "sharing mood".
put your rope out there and you instead will end up with an orgy :-)
Not sure which would be worse, closing the sleeping bag, and suffocating or letting the snakes in.
Frank you coming to sleep? No thanks, I'll stand.
when younger i would just drop a sleeping bag on the ground any-freaking-where and camp out like that, never had a single problem. now it's tent, somehow that 3mil thick chunk of plastic makes me safe from all the lions tigers and bears Oh No!
yup.
I will admit I do enjoy the mosqito protection though.
except a few always seem to make it in with me.
06:12
I found out that those bloodsuckers at least when very hungry are definatly following a trail of CO2
it maters not how warm or cold , how you smell, if you quit breathing they quit following you :-)
I'll have to remember that.
I suppose the downside would be if you fail, when you go to suck in breath again you might get a mouthful of nourishment.
That's probably why misqittos love me so much. I'm a mouth breather.
so i put out lots of C02
I would love to get one of those mountain tents. Basically just slips over you sleeping bag as a cover, but then has poles at the front so you don't suffocate.
essentially an expensive tarp I guess.
in the scouts it was the 5$ "tube tent" basically a garbage bag open on both ends
While the adults (of course) teaching us how to rough it, were in the 8 man with a beer cooler , oh the hipocracy.
Never seen those before.
Why would both ends need to be open? or is it a 2 person?
i keep one of them hats with the net in my pack, incase of infestation. what was worse than mosquitoes, was there were very rare areas where black flies were like a polteguist, even marked by the government to not go there.
@RobinHood it is possible to fit 2 humans in them, more like 2 kids.
06:28
Nice talking, but I gotta go.
later.
Bivy , that is the word for those single person covers. or bivouac <-- only word i spelled correct today.
lol
Our military tents were 2 tarps, and 2 piece tent poles...
each person carried a tarp and one set of poles, and you shared
damned things were too short tho, I used to sleep with my feet sticking out of the tent ;p
06:45
plastic reinforced tarp or canvas?
coated canvas
I think
We were using roughly vietnam war era gear in my time, they've changed a LOT of stuff in the last decade
probably the same here, launch 4-5 2million doller missiles, and have the "grunts" sleep in a tent from the 50s
oh, we've massively updated our PE since
Also, as a reservist REMF, I don't need a tent generally ;p
when camping i got one of them military surplus stores, and look at some military like gear. things like "alice" packs, the whole pack kit weighs more than i bring total. gotta have things last time and rough treatments.
lol
Our current packs are pretty nice
(And I don't need to pack a pair of running shoes anymore. I'm size 11 and half, and that shit took up half my oldschool field pack)
06:55
3.5pounds with nothing in it and holding little.
Very suspicious!
you tried loging in or something?
Thats the old design
when i hike in the woods i use a old jansport, and still do not understand the new stuff. ebay.com/itm/… the waist belt puts 75% of the weight right on the hip, or the pivot for the human walking contraption.
another thing is i am walking in HOT climate, so having insulation stuck on my back makes it miserable, with a "frame" and a mesh air travels between me and the lunk of crap on my back.

2 hours later…
08:56
oops, i was wrong about the sata express, it uses a smaller connector. In most systems the use of a sata express channel disables 2 sata ports
09:29
@Psycogeek Do you take long-distance taxi sometimes?
Alright - medium distance.
@Boris_yo i had to one time, long ago costs some $100 luckily the guy gave me a deal . . . so i could still tip him.
the prices they charge nowdays, walking would make a person a average paycheck per hour :-) plus saving money isnt taxed .
@Psycogeek A deal - I charge you $80 and you give me a tip of 25% of that money.
@Psycogeek Average? Here's it's almost 2 paychecks. Don't worry, Google planned for this. Their driverless cars will kill taxi businesses.
what a deal, nowdays the same trip 50 miles , would probably cost $250 there are times when if you think ahead a Limo costs the same.
@Psycogeek Alright, when you ride in taxi, do you ask driver to set counter or negotiate fixed fee instead?
I dont ride taxi normally ever, have 2 feet and 3 vehicles (that mostly sit in the garage and lose value)
09:39
@Psycogeek But taxi drivers are known to rig their counters?
Yea they have those new not-a-taxi services now, where you fire up an android app, and some clown with a car , acts like a taxi within the laws and gives you the same ride for 1/2 that. Taxi people are pretty pissed about it, because lots of thier money is spent because of government regulations the regular person does not have.
@Boris_yo is it possible to make those numbers spin any faster ?
When in mexico (say it like mehico) got in a cab told the guy were we were trying to head, he drove 2 miles , let us out, we were 1 Block (exactally) away from where i ordered the taxi , , , Duhhh.
You tourists are easy.
@Psycogeek Like they steal market from taxists yet they are not subject to government regulations like taxists are?
@Psycogeek No but it is possible to extend distance purposefully like you said without client knowing of it. The solution? I will let you answer that!
@Boris_yo correct, plus they use only the regular insurance they would normally have, no "dispatcher" as it is handled with the App and a server (i assume)
09:55
@Psycogeek Dispatcher app replaced fat and sloppy low-paid dispatcher human?
@Boris_yo yea but can it completly? i suppose if you can contact the regular person who is supposed to be giving you this "ride"
For the most part i think that computers replacing humans in all jobs where that has occured is a Complete Disaster. for some companies it is still saving them money, because people get NOTHING! instead. no service, no help. So the unloading of your customers onto a computer has been (in some venues) just dropping all support altogether.
sfgate.com/bayarea/article/… <--- App "ride" non-taxi story. takes 65% of rip-off taxis runs away.
10:16
@Psycogeek Self-service. Gas station with person filling gas for you or you prefer to save and do this yourself? Online account management for convenience - self service. Or do you prefer hiring someone to do it manually?
in the state of Oregon they fill it for you, I have learned to not need it anymore, and prefer to get out of car and move around.
so even in Oregon, while they fill the car, i check the oil and wash the windows.
@Psycogeek Initially app GetTaxi on Android was glitching. Your order would say no taxi available but next hting you know, taxi driver calls you and claimes he is waiting long downstairs for you.
@Psycogeek Agenda 21 - immobilize citizens so they won't do a shit. That's good for their fitness. Remember Wall-E animation and the state of people in the end?
@Boris_yo and that Hails real taxies? because this Uber and Lyft are just any ol person in a car who could do the job at the moment.
@Boris_yo or Idiocracy imdb.com/title/tt0387808/?ref_=nv_sr_1 "Joe doesn't wake up in a year, he wakes up in 500 years! But during that time human evolution has taken a dramatic down turn. After waking up, Joe takes a prison-assigned IQ test and finds that he's the smartest guy alive! Awaiting a full presidential pardon if he can solve one of the country's biggest problems - the dwindling plant population"
The premise for evolving a low IQ in the movie was that smart people were not breeding like flies, and the dumb people had nothing better to do than breed, so in eventuality the whole world is populated by the dumbest genes.
"The years passed, mankind became stupider at a frightening rate. Some had high hopes the genetic engineering would correct this trend in evolution, but sadly the greatest minds and resources where focused on conquering hair loss and prolonging erections. "
10:40
@Psycogeek I haven't checked... But I see how IRS would hate this.
@Psycogeek "but sadly the greatest minds and resources where focused on conquering hair loss and prolonging erections." Hmmmm Corporate!
They facilitated degradation although being smart. Their smarts could be used to save low IQ population instead. But why would they if they live on Elysium?
speaking of self-service gas, ya know those Machines that "self" serve cost some $60,000 , and around here (along with $4.50/gal gas, they replace those machines quite often with newer ones. Sooo you could say they just traded up jobs, instead of serving and talking to people, they now "work for the machines".
relitivly the work level is probably similar, the cost are probably a bit higher, the socalization is way lower, and the waste is probably way higher.
Like any "investment" in some machine it was all going to pay-off in 18.5 years of the machines operation, which is all well and good if the machines ever lasted past the warrenty, or were not obsolete so quickly for the next investment.
11:00
the Credit cards that the machines operate by , were supposed to be way superior to having your cash stolen. Now when people have thier money stolen they have to spend 2+ YEARS of thier lives to fix the problems created in the machines by the Identiy theft.
I think loosing your wallet to a mugger would be easier then loosing 2 years of your life to a total finatial disaster that gets created by the "machines" special new plastic money system.
And when todays StageCoach gets robbed it isnt the bank that looses, no half the planet is exposed via the machines database , thousands of hours lost with people having to (at least) change thier passwords.
I worked with a person on a case involving thier (extra) property worth about 100K somone just went in and messed with the computerised paperwork (as opposed to on paper deed items) and his sister was spending about 1 year trying to get the property back, all much more complicated than that, but it seemed to me nothing that a good double barrel shotgun couldnt have solved :-)
nothing was ever resolved from it yet that i know of, and the computer did hold a trail of really odd things, just not enough to confirm what had occured.
11:21
@RobinHood We should make a Chandelier parody with that sentence.

Can someone please help me with this f Mac computer?
It's an used iMac with OS X Mavericks.
I want to do a clean install on it, and I have already erased the disk.
I attempted reinstalling it over the Internet. But it requires Apple ID....
So I created a new Apple ID on a Windows computer.
But now using it on the Mac says that the Apple ID has not been used yet in App Store.
I installed iTunes on the Windows computer. Logged in, and tried to confirm and verify all the terms of service, bla, bla, yada, yada, yada, then it asks for a credit card.
What the fuck is wrong with Apple?
I can't skip the credit card bullshit.
I found that stupid "help" article on Apple support site. It explains some kind of trick on how to kill two flies in on go! By pretending to "buy" something in iTunes you can select to create the Apple ID, and then the dialog will be different from the one presented to you if you created Apple ID on their website. But it's too late for me now. I already created my stupid Apple ID on their website. And if I log in on iTunes Store it wants my credit card information.
I don't have the LUXURY of selecting "NONE".
See in that picture, I don't have that "NONE" thing.
Just a sec, I'll post my screenshot.
Visa, Mastercard, American, or something called "click and buy".
No "NONE" option! Why the fuck not?
Why does it matter if I created my Apple ID via their website, initially. Or via the iTunes store? Why are there two different dialog options depending on the what path you choose to create Apple ID?
So what now? I have to open a bank account?
And ask for a new credit card?
A fucking bank account is required to reinstall Mac OS X!?!?
This is so sick on so many levels!
Please advise, if you know any other (except the official Apple) workaround for this narcissistical mechanism? Like, can I download the OS from some place and do a clean install?
Please excuse my language and understand my frustration. I have never been so worked up over a computer problem. What's worst, this problem is constructed for me by apple, it's artificial, not created by the computer itself.
I will power it off now, and come back again some other day. I can't deal with it now.

Hm @allquixotic Apparently AMD's got a new x86 microarch.
It'll be on 20nm.
I wonder how it'll compare to Haswell/Broadwell.
