They are polite and slightly shy of new people, mainly due to fear of response, though they are sincerely interested in people they have never met.

If you were aggressively stepping forward, they would back up quite a ways... if not up a tree. ;p

Actually, I am thinking that their reaction would be to say "I mean you no harm!" in Sylvan (probably as instructed by the Book).

A shy smile and a nod of thanks. It would be tucked into the cover of the Book (which is already chock with leaves and flowers and such). And as a return would gesture and make small fey lights of shifting colours dance around Astrid's head.

(I don't think I can make anything permanent o.O)

Oh! Unless... I have a better plan... while the lights are dancing, pulls out a pan pipe and plays it softly while the lights dance around.
