4:02 PM
All my friends decided to be distance learning rather than hybrid
:(

hey, at least you get to choose

Very true
Wait Kithri is tankier than I am even though I'm much bulkier

my school's tentative 1-day-a-week in-person learning has been pushed back to February/March, if ever

Oh I was thinking we could all have really annoying sleeping patterns except for Mith so she can never fully be rested :P
Astrid snores
Ink purrs
Lae "om"s
And I have no idea what Msh does

João walks about waking anyone whose name starts with K

4:05 PM
he's a bard, could talk/sing in his sleep?

very strange, dunno how it started

Ah, so Johnny sleep talks and every so often wakes Kithri up for no reason
Hey, I can also be night patrol because I only need to rest for 4 hours

no, constantly
(I'm kidding, though. I don't want my character to do that)
@Sciborg can one apply longstrider to himself?
@anyone who knows: There's a spell by which "A creature with an Intelligence score of 4 or less isn't affected". Is that a common hindrance to the spellcaster? I don't know how common such a score is.

Urm, Intelligence score of 4 or less is pretty low as a creature

4:09 PM
@Mithical I got a terrible first draft of Kith - anything to fix?

@PrinceNorthLæraðr okay so I'll know that spell. thanks!

I'm not a hundred percent sure though, let me double check
What spell is it?

> A creature of your choice that you can see within range perceives everything as hilariously funny and falls into fits of laughter if this spell affects it. The target must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or fall prone, becoming incapacitated and unable to stand up for the duration. A creature with an Intelligence score of 4 or less isn't affected.

At the end of each of its turns, and each time it takes damage, the target can make another Wisdom saving throw. The target has advantage on the saving throw if it's triggered by damage. On a success, the spell ends.

@msh210 Hm, it'll be useful later. Most "common weak enemy" (basically animals) have pretty low intelligence

4:12 PM
Who would teach such an abominable spell?

oh wait wait, never mind - that was the one that required weird materials
I'm not taking it

Oh okay
Imagine knowing spells. Imagine

Astrid has animal friendship so I probably don't need it.
@PrinceNorthLæraðr and if you were it would be for Astrid(e)

sleep could let you knock a bunch of enemies out at once, provided they have low enough HP

@msh210 I'm Læraðr
Bobble is Astrid(e)

4:17 PM
yes
I know

I sense a running joke in the making
Did you already choose cantrips?

@bobble yeah, that's a good one
@bobble yeah

heroism could let you touch Lae, make him more stupid braver than he already is, and give him extra temporary HP

need 1 more spell

@bobble depends on the temperature, but generally the arm scars are showing

4:20 PM
Is there a reason you chose healing word over cure wounds?

@bobble hm, yeah, that sounds good too
but it lasts only a minute

healing word heals for less, but you don't have to touch to have an effect. So it works better for middle-of-the-battle healing, maybe?

@bobble Look, I don't like you dissing my intelligence
But yes, I do like being more powerful than I already am

@msh210 that's 10 rounds of combat

@bobble yeah, tough call. I can take both.....
@bobble oh!

4:22 PM
> A round represents about 6 seconds in the game world. During a round, each participant in a battle takes a turn.

@PrinceNorthLæraðr ¬.¬

So, thoughts on Kith drawing?

@Mithical Hey, I will being ommming in my trance

@bobble I have my glasses off but I think it looks about accurate

okay, 2 protective, 2 attacking:

4:24 PM
Looks good!

Hm, you should have heroism to buff me Looks good!
Is everyone's character sheet done?

Maybe list dissonant whispers, along with its damage, in "Attacks & Spellcasting"
Do you have all the Features & Traits down, msh210?
'borg has arrived!

Hello! :) Reading some backlog, give me a sec

It's borg!

@msh210 The description of Longstrider says:
> You touch a creature. The target's speed increases by 10 feet until the spell ends.
I would rule that you could plausibly tap yourself on the shoulder :P
So yes, any spell that involves touching another creature can be self-cast

4:34 PM
Are we almost ready for our campaign?

It looks like you guys are ready, yeah :D
Got your character sheets, too, i wili look them over

Ooooooohhhhhhh

Would now be an appropriate time to consider scheduling?

Definitely, yes.
yesterday, by Sciborg
my work hours are kinda weird and sporadic right now, but in general I work 8:00AM-5:00PM my time on weekdays (Detroit time, 8:22 PM), and i could make free hours after that on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

Fridays seem good

4:36 PM
umm let's convert stuff to UTC, since we span several timezones

Will do, one sec
UTC is 5 hours ahead of me, so I would be busy 1:00PM-10:00PM UTC

OH, I first read that as 1:00pm-1:00pm

and i go to bed around midnight my time, so i would plausibly be asleep from 5:00AM UTC for about six hours onwards.
i think i converted that all correctly

That's actually perfect
For me

4:40 PM
I have a feeling Thursdays or Saturday evenings are going to be the best
Thursday evenings are best for me because I'm usually home and can stay up late

Weekends are iffy for me, but Thursday evening is very doable.

Thursday and Friday sound good to me

I can't do anything before school. I could plausibly make an hour of time from 10PM-1:30AM (with a teeny bit of possible spillover), and also from 4AM-6AM. Weekends are iffy.

10PM-1:30AM UTC?

yep
I'm not awake at 1:30AM my time

4:43 PM
...I am sometimes, which is good, because 10PM UTC is midnight local time

@bobble Same
@bobble PST or UTC?

All those times are UTC

so it looks like we are all tentatively free 10:00 PM UTC onwards, except it is a bit not-good for Mith because it is midnight their time.

msh, care to contribute?

10:00 PM UTC on Thursday or Friday works great for me, if that's our tentative plan.
I would feel bad making Mith stay up that late their time, though.

4:47 PM
(msh has the same timezone as me, FWIW)

ahh, so that would require two of you staying up late. That might be iffy.

I'm online for a good majority of the day, but for example right now I have school
to be fair I have econ, but sometimes I have actual econ to concentrate on

Right, we don't want to conflict with school. And I hang in chat during work but it would require too much losing track of work to run a D&D campaign while working.

Yikes that's midnight for Mith

Would weekends be better-ish since I don't work and you guys don't have school? i could attempt to block out some time but my weekends tend to be busy.

4:50 PM
Weekends might be unpredictable

fridays are a no-go

Perhaps we can have like a slightly broken campaign?

3:30PM-4:30PM is my morning before-school stuff, I usually spend that with puzzles or moderation tasks

Oh, I completely forgot about Gray

We'd have to see with Gray, yeah. They live in Australia

4:52 PM
Doesn't looks too terrible, it's like 8 in the morning, but they work right?

How far is their time from UTC?
They do work, yes

Well depends on where in Austalia they live

They are not usually on until evening my time, which makes me think they are probably first logging on in their afternoon
so I'm probably ahead of them by quite a bit

Yeah....
(Geez, this is confusing)

If we have to, I'm happy to do like a split-up campaign where bobble, North and me take character actions and play brief sessions at 10:00 UTC and then Mith, msh and Gray do their own part of the session at another time where they don't have to be up super late in their time.

4:56 PM
Ooh, that sounds interesting

but i'm hoping we can group as many of you together as possible, since character interaction is the best part

We'll see when msh and Gray are free, and then we will decide :)

Maybe those not available could be NPCs for the time being

My lunch break is ending so i gotta get back to my bug fixes, bleh

4:58 PM
Oof

North you're in school too right? i don't know when your semesters start compared to bobble's

I'm in school, but some classes are more chill then others

Makes sense :p

My schoolday ends early because I don't have a last period. (It's a TA period, but it's impossible to TA online so it's effectively a free period)

Mine also pretty much ends early, because my sixth period is chill
(As in we don't do anything
Oh, I just realized
Kithri should have a +5, I think for their attack bonus on their two weapons
Bc they should be proficient in all simple and martial weapons

5:05 PM
pretty sure that's on the sheet

No, that's your bonus roll
On your actual damage

What's the middle column?

i fail to see how there isn't a +5

On the damage
It should be a +5, shouldn't it?
Not +3

I thought that only applied to attack bonus

5:07 PM
the +3 is from the dexterity stat, no?

21 hours ago, by Sciborg
(it is confusing, my bad :p)
finally got it
21 hours ago, by Sciborg
(not to damage - prof. bonus only applies to attack roll)

21 hours ago, by bobble
also North has his wrong >_<

Oh didn't see that
I'm so weak ;-;

I have a weapon with a -1
you're just fine

5:10 PM
I'm not strong enough >:(

It's very confusing, no worries. Proficiency doesn't apply to damage.

So the max damage I can do with my 1d8+2 long bow is 10?

that's my entire health

Oh, that's given I don't roll a 20 on d20

oooh, I hadn't noticed my lucky ability before

5:13 PM
Lucky is an amazing ability. Best part of being a Halfling.

It seems so broken
LIke you roll a critical fail and you're like nope
I mean they say, "oh, you have to take the next roll" but like are you really going to take that critical fail on the first roll?

as in even if the reroll is another 1 you have to take it IIUC

It's only once per short or long rest I believe, so it's not too broken.

Oh okay
i was like if you can do that every roll

> You have 3 luck points. Whenever you make an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw, you may spend 1 luck point to roll an additional d20. You can use this ability after the original roll, but before the outcome is revealed. You choose which of the d20s is used for the attack roll, ability check, or saving throw.

You can also spend one luck point when an attack roll is made against you. Roll a d20, and choose whether the attacker's roll uses their d20 roll or yours.

If multiple creatures use a luck point on the same roll, they cancel out, resulting in no additional dice.
You do get to do it three times, but it recharges on long rest.

5:15 PM

It makes up for Halflings being a more underpowered class.

I was copying off the Halfling page

Ah wait, I was copying the feat wording, my bad. But I could swear you can't use it every roll....

Pfffffft
Okay that's
Not fair :(

It is not fair, I think roll20 is wrong. I'm trying to find the canonical wording
Could swear that Lucky wasn't that good
...Yeah, I guess it is just that good. Every source agrees on bobble's wording. Jeez.

5:20 PM
Kith looks failure in the eye and says "Nope!"
2
(the original version of that message was a CA Civil War reference...)

I mean, it's not mechanically OP or broken, it's just very good to have :P

*imagining a two-and-a-half-foot halfling planted with her feet apart, hands on her hips looking up at Death and saying "Nope!"*

Probably the best racial feat in the game, actually

But keep in mind that it makes up everything else about Halflings being slightly underpowered.
So it balances out

5:23 PM
I don't get any perks for being a What about it?
Mith gets +3dex as well ;-;

Wood elves get so much stuff

> Dwarven Toughness: HP max up 1 at start & by level

The wood elf racial traits alone take up like... half a page in my book

I get HP buffs

And besides, the game isn't all about combat :P

5:25 PM
^
I have a feeling we'll reconvene in about... four and a half hours

oh no... I forgot to bubble in my other skill proficiencies...
I don't want to recopy Astrid, but I think I might have to ><

I have some coworkers to scold for breaking Sourcetree again

and my proficiency bonus...
i will start recopying

:(

Oh I have 10 traits that effect my skills/trait for being a wood elf, that's a lot

5:28 PM
Yup, see? :P you get a lot too

(Homemade pizza time! Much better than base food)

ooooh! :D

@Sciborg Yeah but like

Astrid's first page, corrected
Nothing else changed

If you consider Lucky mathematically, it only activates when Mith rolls a 1. This happens 5% of the time. Then, it allows Mith to reroll, giving them the full 5% chance to get another 1, %5 of getting a 2... etc. It's not as completely OP as it seems, just a fun way to boost your luck a little bit.
@bobble looks good :D

5:39 PM
And also gives great mental images of flipping off failure

It fits with the Halfling image of being small and seemingly not as strong as the other races, but having secret weapons and being unexpectedly lucky.
