@DavidPostill "The one exception to this rule is if you turn your PC off every time after using it—essentially, if you never let the PC sit idle at all, the defrag task will never get a chance to run. This is probably not the case, but if you check and your drive hasn’t been defragged in a while, you might have to start doing it manually."
Which I do
and this is a storage drive and this does some witchcraft atop the usual defragmentaion process
@qasdfdsaq in my case my parents tend to yell for my help super often
so its quite the other way around
and I've done my own laundry, and we have a dryer that's kind of the frankenstein's monster of driers.
Broken door (has a jerryrigged magnetic latch), and the belt breaks every so often so we replaced it with a large O ring meant for connecting large pipes....
I would like to transfer a file (i.e., lossless transfer) from a Linux computer to another computer using only the headphone output. I would use an audio cable and plug into to the receiving computer's microphone input. Is this possible? How do I set it up?
This whole "monsoon season" business must have been a ruse to scare me away
The only rain I've seen the whole time I've been here was the five drops of drizzle that occurred after I had gotten up to go to the lift.
Mainly cause I needed to go to my room to book some flights before going back to the pool. It's rather difficult to cool a scorching hot laptop screen in the mid-day sun on the equator :-/
My phone is easy to deal with, just put it in my pocket when I jump into the pool to cool down. Phone gets cooled at the same time.
So I can laugh at all the people with selfie sticks desperately contorting their bodies to try keep their phones above the water line. I just jump straight in
I dunno how comprehensively higher IP ratings are supposed to include lower ones, but lower ones explicitly involve testing the phone against forceful jets of water
Yeah I have a real camera... It's not waterproof.
In fact I don't know of any "real cameras" that are natively waterproof.
(A GoPro is a fucking toy camera)
There are plenty of weatherproof pro cameras mind you, but those are IP55 at best.
It's rather old, though. Nikon needs to release a successor to this camera with improved sensor and image processor, and add a few more 1 NIKKOR AW lenses to the lineup.
The Nikon 1 system is all about speed. 60 fps continuous shooting, lightning-fast autofocus.
As in if it says heavy rain and thunderstorms, there WILL be rain
If it says light rain, then there's a 50-50- chance of light rain
In Singapore the forecast has been saying heavy rain and thunderstorms every day I've been here... and this is the first time I've even seen a single drop.
@qasdfdsaq I just remember seeing all those questions about funny Unicode characters, etc., that people see as boxes. Always worked for me on FF and IE when I tested. Never on Chrome.
Well one of the Apples seems to be stuck upgrading too
Although it does seem to be a theme these days
With widespread availability of broadband, pretty much everything has some updates to do right out of the box, even on release day
On the one hand OTA makes ongoing maintenance of devices so much easier, on the other hand it enables and even encourages releasing broken products prematurely in the hope it can be fixed later OTA
I have a Mercury UV lamp (ENF-260C/FE) which is supposed to emitte UV light with wavelength of 254nm and 365nm (http://www.chescientific.com/ecat/Eng/spectroline.pdf). However it is found that during the On/Off of the lamp, there is some unknown light could penetrate a 2mm Copper plate and activ...
i think the joke is that on christmas you visit your family, and as an "IT Person" your family expects you to look at / fix all their pc/laptop/smartphone issues
I'm certain I once had an argument with someone (else?) regarding the same Misuse Of Capital Letters but I can't find it to see if It Was The Same Person :/

lol. @JourneymanGeek good job you have "Community♦ (moderator)" as a backup ;)
Spammers never read responses. They can be classified as "hit and run" and there should be the same penalties for them as for hit and run car drivers ;)
