I'm still scared to invest in one...my machine will let me have to physical disks, but I still don't trust them enough, and I don't have all the $$$ in the world...
In conjunction with the Super User blog, we will be getting at least one, maybe more, SSD drives from Kingston. We want to perform tests on these drives and blog about the results, and need your help. What testing, comparisons, or how to guides, would you as a Super User like to see related to ...
Please read my full experience before jumping in with a quick answer.
About 9 months ago I bought an SSD, an OCZ Vertex Turbo (60GB). Up until about 2 weeks ago, I really loved the drive. It was extremely reliable and it really does make your system much more responsive. But 2 weeks ago, the dr...
Ah... conflicting statements in the announcement: "Starting today we'll provide you with the ability..." vs "We are rolling this out slowly over the next few weeks"
@David Wow... that's a bit of a cycle there. Kinda like my wandering around the building today.
I started on the first floor, thinking my destination was on the third floor for some reason. I took the stairs to the third floor and walked down the hall a bit until I realized the place was actually on the second floor. So, I took the stairs to the second floor. After doing my business there, I walked out of the room thinking I was on the third floor, so I took the stairs down (my office is on the second) to the first floor.
Once I realized what I'd done there I said, "Screw it, I'm taking the elevator this time."
@David Net+ is like A+ for networking. Fairly entry-level. If you've done any amount of studying for (or already have) the CCNA, it should be easy. Security+ is also about 1/3 Network+ material, if you've done that at all.
I consider it definitely worth having, but again it is (as most CompTIA certs are) pretty entry-level.
@Iszi I do not have any certifications other than the VCP4. I hope to someday have many though. This is my start. I have experience with network since I have been working at a data center since December 22nd 2009. I also have an applied science of computer networking associates degree (4.0 GPA).
... I am trying to write an answer and I can't think (or google) a word... not accumulative but similar... means the bigger the input, the much bigger the output...
Recently I keep forgetting things, and it drives me mad as I remember I have forgotten, so I try to think... :S
For the memtest question -
I know when I have run it on machines with 8GB, it can sometimes look like it has frozen for up to 5 minutes before it starts - I am not sure if this effect is
exponential growth!... was driving me mad... but at the same time, cumulative also seems correct :S ... I need to go to the doctor about my memory... unless it is just getting older! recently I have been so terrible at times :S
No, but I am dyslexic and do have short term memory loss, I am just worried it has spread or become worse as, the last 6 or so months just seem to be especially bad...
but I don't want to bore you with the details... :S back to answering that question!
My thoughts are this:
DONT EVER DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL SOMETHING THAT POPS UP!!!!!!
With that said, the answer is yes I think you've been hacked. You need to re-install (in my opinion) your OS and start all over. This is make sure that anything and everything that may have been embedded in...
@KronoS Just vote to close as a dupe of the reference question. It's not worth answering - especially as the guy is a pirate himself. See the comments on the SF question.
@David As long as you have a thorough understanding of the OSI and TCP/IP models, a fair amount of routing protocol knowledge, and some idea of what to do with switches and VLANs, you should be in mostly good shape. It also helps to know a bit about NATing and ACLs.
