I wonder how hard it would be to make it so the watch command checks to see if an open pr for the same watch exists

I bet it would be easier to make a file that keeps track of all watches in PR, as I assume going through PRs would be harder than just querying a file

This could become an issue if something is watched, then PR approved, as creating duplicate records in the watched keywords file will cause the build to fail

@Dragonrage Considered trying to do this. Digging deep into a PR's commits' diffs was somewhat difficult (for me), and the solution I came up with was absurdly hacky and wasn't even implemented in a local SD instance.

However...

I did make this PR that'd let folks close their own PRs assuming they're the ones who submitted them.

I also tried looking at that, but didn't get as far as Spevacus did

You have to hit the GH API once to get PRs, and then again to hit specific commits and get their changes, and parsing those is annoying.

I can maybe try it again, but there's a bit of a "Okay, how much effort is too much?" question I'm asking myself when a blacklister (or, hey, the PR author themselves if my PR is merged!) can just fix any problems created by such a conflict in a command or two.

Would the file method I mentioned above be useful?

@Fastnlight Probably would make it easier to keep track of, yeah. Make it a local file the instance holds onto, and it holds onto the pr diff and id.

When a pr is approved it'd just remove that entry.

and parsing a file for duplicate entries is already in the watch code

so we'd just be adding another file to the list

@Dragonrage it was already (recently) watched; I just searched and found >= 2 hits so went with blacklisting

Plus, numbers associated with illegal drugs should warrant an instant blacklist IMO

@Fastnlight it just seems to me that there were more failure scenarios to deal with going that route, but again, I didn't get very far. I do like the general idea of checking open PR's

@Spevacus Given that SD is the one creating, merging, and closing those PRs, probably 99% of the time, and SD knows exactly what is being watched/blacklisted without needing to parse the PR, it's probably sufficient to just keep a list internal to the SD instance of ones it has opened, but hasn't closed (with checking for the PR having been closed every once in a while, perhaps on reboot, if status is kept across reboots).

@Fastnlight I don't think it was intentional spam, just uninformed user. They self-deleted their Q after the spam issue was pointed out in comment

Good point. I think best course of action would have been to close and let roomba take care of it (or, in this case, post owner did that)
