Ohh, charcoal has it's own SO for Teams instance? cool.

@ThomasWard There haven't been problems for a few hours. The problems happened while I was AFK. I haven't looked through the entire transcript. When I first saw that there were issues, Osiris was disconnected from CHQ (i.e. not accepting commands). After a !!/reboot in another room, I haven't seen additional issues. My impression was that there were also issues with other instances, at least mine, coming online. I have not fully investigated. I'm not sure if it was getting a "failover".

@JohannesKuhn yep; we get it for free in return for being beta testers & for being a project that services the SO community

Nice.

@Makyen okay. I just got home so I can do something - I kicked the instance with SystemD to reboot it

@Makyen I was the one handling the situation before you were on, the failover to your instance worked fine as far as I can remember

@Daniil OK. But, what caused the failover? Was it that Osiris went away and MS automatically failed-over to my instance? Was it done manually? It looked like Osiris was up and down multiple times and/or my instance came active multiple times.

@Makyen @ArtOfCode dumps.charcoal-se.org is now an autoindexed page of the dumps in gzip form. It's not pretty :p

eh, doesn't need to be

nope it doesn't

nice

BUT
they're there and available
AND served by nginx directly
so we bypass Rails once again
except for S3 caching :p

9:09 PM
@ThomasWard it does the job. that's great; thank you!

yep
it's served from the same MS box and not the ancillary system so it behaves just as if Rails did the backup and serves direct from MS itself
so the ancillary system with the unsanitized backups is still isolated from internet access :P
E:NOACCESS from outside

@ThomasWard Great! Thanks!
@user12986714 You have been wanting a more recent backup. One is now available. See the discussion above.

that's the daily cleaned up backup though
the sanitized
NOT the unsanitized which is not publicly available

@Makyen I failed-over manually, Osiris lost connection

user435118
That’s happened 3 times in the past week ^

user435118
The thing is, what if no-one with failover privs is around?

user435118
I was around most of the times it happened which was good

@Daniil Lost connection to where? To Charcoal HQ? If so, did you try a !!/reboot from another room?

user435118
While Osiris was down, it wasn’t taking any commands. I couldn’t even standby.

@Daniil oh, it wasn't you that failed over to teward's?

It's fairly easy to just !!/reboot from another room, unless it's having an issue posting in here too.

@Makyen I did that but it still didn't seem to accept commands after rebooting. In hindsight, it was probably just rate-limited

At a minimum, having the error log will be helpful. I'm getting that elsewhere.
