@EriktheOutgolfer I know. I'll nuke it now then.

You can tell by the format it exists entirely to promote the website. If it was a self-answered question in the actual self-answer format with disclosure, I'd go for fp. But instead, it seems like the only purpose is to drag attention to the website. Also a 1-rep account, created today (presumably just before posting), which is another indicator it's just a self-promotion account

Just got a bit confused, last time I tried to tpu something like that someone told me that 'they mentioned 'my site' so I'm not sure if it's actual spam'.

imo the flag description isn't exactly accurate

Oh... it's already gone.

Zoe
eh, it still covers it though

> Exists only to promote a product or service, does not disclose the author's affiliation.
that "," implies "and"
in reality, it's an "or"

@Tinkeringbell the big difference here is the way the post isn't even trying to ask a question.
If it was an answer, and the link had disclosure and actually helped answer the question, then it's fine

A: What are the “spam” and “rude or abusive” (offensive) flags, and how do they work?

KipNote for moderators: Some sites, including Stack Overflow, have more permissive, overriding guidance on the handling of these flags. What makes something spam and when should I flag it? @Tinkeringbell Our webpage for Feedback Guidance explains how things differ here from how things are flagged on a particular site. It is possible to offer SD feedback to a report here that differs from how you (well, other people) would deal with flagging / DV / Hammer / on each site. We prefer feedback given to SD to align with the guidance.

@EriktheOutgolfer In cases where the username is sufficiently unique such that I don't think it will erroneously match without the domain and the domain is a common one (i.e. not unique to the spammer), I'll usually make the domain optional. This will allow the username to be matched, in most cases, if the spammer starts to try to obfuscate their email address, without the need for a somewhat more complex regex to cover that. Leaving it caught when not obfuscated gives context when looking at the why.

[ SmokeDetector | MS ] Potentially problematic ns configuration in answer (1): How to fix 'Failed to launch GPU process' [.NET CORE / Chromely] by Bulbousonions13 on stackoverflow.com

@Makyen yeah, one can say the same thing for some domain names (leaving the TLD out), although obfuscation happening only after the first un-obfuscated post has been posted is actually pretty rare, empirically

[ SmokeDetector | MS ] Potentially problematic ns configuration in body (1): Create an effective impact through video animation by Connie E. Dixon on stackoverflow.com

@Makyen In addition, some spammers will use such sufficiently unique usernames in other contexts (e.g. in URL paths), which we may not have seen yet. Having the domain be optional (when it's a common email domain like gmail.com), allows those possible future uses to also be detected. Every once in a while, this will detect a spam post that would not otherwise have been detected. Obviously, this can't be done when the username isn't sufficiently unique to prevent erroneous detections.

@EriktheOutgolfer I don't have numbers for how often it happens, but I've definitely seen it multiple times, but not a large number.

@Makyen then I'd assume that you don't even need to include the (?:... part at all in the regex, e@ is definitely a word boundary

5:30 PM
@EriktheOutgolfer I assume you mean to leave off the (?:@gmail\.com)? entirely. I prefer to leave that in. If it's not in the regex, then it doesn't show up in the why data. If it's there in the why data, then people immediately know that what was detected was an email address, rather than have to search to figure out what it was, other than just some identifier. I don't know about other people, but I prefer to see the @gmail.com in the why, if it's in the post.

[ SmokeDetector | MS ] Bad keyword in link text in body (66): MS Exchange 2013 Unified Messaging issue, or really an AD issue? by D19 on serverfault.com
fp- feedback received

@JakeSymons Yes.
@JakeSymons Linux and Windows have been able to dual boot for decades. So, the real answer to that question is: get the version(s) you want. It also wasn't clear if you were asking about the Linux version, the Windows version, or both, but the answer really is the same.
Note that it's become increasingly popular to run the OS you consider non-primary in a virtual machine, rather than only have the different operating systems available as a dual boot, or multi-boot. This allows you to be using both, or many, operating systems at the same time, which has significant benefits over having to fully reboot to change OS.

@Makyen I was asking about the Linux version - it was more I have only been running Raspian on a Raspberry Pi but other than that I was just looking to see what the preferences were around here as I'm still researching at the moment

@JakeSymons Which Linux version to use is something that people have various different opinions on. To an extent it will depend on what you are intending to do with it. Presumably, you'll want one of the Workstation builds, but most variations have such a build.

@SmokeDetector The user posted two answers on this question which have basically no content. Given that they are not actual "aosidfoasjf" posts, I'd be willing to go with NAA for just one. However, posting two that are two minutes apart implies that it was intentionally rude/trolling, rather than just a mistake of some sort. In addition, the "......." at the end of each post indicates that the user had to intentionally add that text in order to post. That further argues that the user is trolling.

@Makyen I went for NAA flags on site. Here our Feedback Guidance barely suggests it's spam, but blocking for polite words and not gibberish might be strong. I just woke up, so I'm going to finish waking up before I feedback here. I have a theory on what they are doing. They are answering in spoonfuls a little bit at a time - as people sometimes (annoyingly) do in text messages.
