[ SmokeDetector | MS ] Pattern-matching website in answer (79): Techniques for handling pumped arms? by M. Rogerson on outdoors.SE
fp- by Erik the Outgolfer

@SmokeDetector "climbing" is definitely not "bing"!

This raises the question - why is bing even banned?

looks like that's the kind of domain Smokey would catch without any reason
("Pattern-matching website in {}" refers to built-in Smokey patterns)
so...I guess the domain should be whitelisted (it looked legitimate to me)

FR: if you say something is "potentially bad", please explain how the heck you caught it, Smokey!
(i.e. mention the pattern that caught it)

[ SmokeDetector | MS ] Potentially bad keyword in answer (1): What stopwords list is Wolfram language using? by C. Dunn on mathematica.SE

I'm not a fan of the reason weights being in Smokey's messages.
It's misleading if you don't know what it's telling you. "Potentially bad keyword in answer (1)" reads like there is one bad keyword. "Bad keyword in link text in answer (78)" reads like there are 78 bad keywords. Not that it's a reason weight.

Solution: Mandatory crash-course in parsing Smokey's messages :P

5:11 PM
we could try doing (w: <WEIGHT>) to indicate the weight
but i agree it can be... confusing
even though I know how to read Smokey's messages :p

I know we know how to, but we do draw attention from around the network at times.

I don't think adding the weight adds much; it takes up space in the message; the people that care have scripts to add it; and it's confusing to new users.

@Mithrandir e.g. AIM
and yeah, the reason weight in the message looks very alien

@SmokeDetector Previous revision contained very offensive content.
...and just deleted

Zoe
6:30 PM
The revision caught by smokey isn't offensive though

it's the closest we have to the offensive one

Zoe
so blacklist the user, fp the non-offensive rev, and nuke it if anything new shows up

hm, not sure, Smokey uses a bayes too, and VLQs are at least somewhat likely to have contained offensive content in the very near past measured in seconds, so I guess it should be trained for that too (Smokey doesn't fetch previous revisions)

Zoe
Catching VLQ's because there may have been or be offensive comment in them now or in the future is a really wide net to toss though. Especially on SO.

we don't aim to generally catch VLQs here

@EriktheOutgolfer Are you sure you're wanting to catch the username in addition to the domain in the user's profile?

10:17 PM
@Makyen yeah, the domain isn't usually in the post, as you can see from the MS reports
also, what I'm trying to catch isn't just the username, it's also how it is in the post itself
as for the domain, well, I'm trying to catch it for obvious reasons of preemptiveness
the result is this monster of a regex :P

10:41 PM
@Undo sure can do :)
Hope I haven't done anything wrong

@SmokeDetector While not spam per se, I'd prefer to see a system level block on the content. Given the content, I'd also like the user on the blacklist, until they contribute some appropriate content. Thus, tpu.
