@ByteCommander Hmm, In my opinion, if there is a requirement it should be documented with the instructions. The problem is not 'wtf is this running 3.4' but 'why isn't it documented that we expect at least 3.6?'.

@ArtOfCode - Do we need to use Python3.6 for Smokey? (Do I need to spend my evening updating it :P )

no

@Henders >= 3 is the only requirement

Actually you need >= 3.4 now that I think about it
doesn't work on 3.3 anymore
It will run perfectly fine on 3.4 though

@quartata And is there any reason that I shouldn't run it on there? Less secure? Less efficient?

nope
I mean, maybe less "efficient" who knows

4:15 PM
Okay, thanks.

2 hours ago, by Byte Commander
So it is very well possible, and increasingly likely, that somebody commits code with stuff that runs fine in 3.6, but not on older Python versions. CI tests would not notice it, and next time your instance pulls, it dies.
@ArtOfCode Then the CI builds should actually test >=3 and not ==3.6 only

@ByteCommander doing multiple builds for each version takes too long
no point
we know it works on 3.4, I test on it

On the Travis CI for ChatExchange, we had multiple Python versions running in parallel
I don't think it really extended the runtime

@ArtOfCode For github.com/Charcoal-SE/userscripts/issues/122, do you know of anything that'll break if we rename System to SmokeDetector?
The other part of it is probably less doable, but that part seems easyish

@ArtOfCode Fixed

@Undo feels like it's probably easier to make SIM do s/System/SmokeDetector/

8:27 PM
@ArtOfCode Feels kinda cleaner to change the record in metasmoke, though. It'd be clearer to people looking at it directly too

the latter part can be done by auto-updating MS usernames from SE every night, like Redunda does now
@Undo aye, there is that. Probably won't break, as long as we're not trying to find it by username anywhere - always using find(-1) instead.

Hey, so do feeds work now?

8:28 PM
@ArtOfCode Aye, checking
@quartata That's the question now

@Undo can we not pull from the SE profile itself?
what's Redunda do?

SE profile takes the username from a single site, either arbitrarily or by most rep
Some folks (not many, but some) have differing usernames across sites.
