@Glorfindel Lada was the name for export, in Russia they are known as Жигули. I'm not surprised you didn't see them; if one can afford to live in Moscow or StP, one can probably afford a better car. Also, imported cars (mostly 2nd hand) took over the Russian automarket decades ago, somewhat countered by punitive tariffs in more recent years.

uh hum? starting at 0 and quickly turns into -6 and nuked?

@iBug You saw it before MS autoflagged it.
There is sometimes a noticeable delay in autoflagging.

So regarding the continuous disk space issues, what do we need to do to fix It? Just buy a new hard drive? Do I have this all wrong? Probably

Not "buy a new drive"
Upgrade the service plan on AWS to have more space.

1:38 PM
Yes, that makes more sense :D

and then pay with your credit card

Paypal donation collection for MS upgrade? We can spam SO with links to it. :)

Does AWS have "free plan"s? I doubt
@SFTP Yeah, I thought about it.

AWS has free EC2 tiers, but not all their services are 'free'.

Someone (possibly Undo) sets up a dedicated PayPal account to collect donation and pay AWS for running MS.

1:40 PM
The problem is that the log rotation script isn’t working

@iBug 1 year for new users, for certain configurations which are low on resources in every way.
Also, there are data transfer charges, which are separate.

how heavy is MS?

We can throw as much money as we like at it but it still won’t help

> AWS Free Tier includes 750 hours of Linux and Windows t2.micro instances each month for one year. To stay within the Free Tier, use only EC2 Micro instances.

because I probably have spare system cycles that can handle it

1:41 PM
@ThomasWard only Undo can host it due to API key issues etc with autoflaggig

point.missed() == True
but whatever
the core problem then is if the API key is restricted that much
then it can't sit on any cloud hosting providers
at all.
which rules out AWS and every other potential easily-doable solution
so short of Undo getting a colocated machine in a datacenter somewhere which he controls the machine
you're prohibiting the ability of easy expansion

So where is MS currently hosted now, at present?

so the discussion of AWS and money is irrelevant.

Feel free to talk to them about it, but I believe we’ve covered this many times before, I’m just regurgitating what I remember
@iBug I’m guessing US-East 1

Bad answer: Undo's home/office/private server/potatoes in kitchen, etc.

1:44 PM
(AWS)

This seems like a pretty crippling issue that we've seen a few times. How large is the disk currently? The storage costs in EBS are pretty tiny. Surely we can smash a bigger disk on it and then just let it take longer for this to happen. At least that would decrease the frequency of this.

Also we’ve offered him donations before, but he can’t take them because he uses that server for things other than MS and it would make his accountant confused if donations were included

Perhaps time to split it off to a new server then? Still owned by Undo (so the API keys are safe) but that we could contribute to.

Perhaps. If only Undo likes the idea

@ByteCommander When MS bobs its head back up again before falling down. This happens every time MS goes down :)

very unambiguous wording

2:01 PM
yeah, this isn't making sense. No space left on device, but there definitely is
aha
no inodes left

meh

On to jnodes!
2

Don't tell me there's only 4096 inodes

more like 786000

@ByteCommander I've got no idea what the problem is. What I'm trying to convey, evidently sub-optimally, is that whenever MS has a perceived disk space issue, the instances all appear as if they're not working correctly when, in reality, they cannot communicate with MS to indicate that they are working correctly.

2:04 PM
inodes v6

@Undo This issue takes some people hours to debug if they don't know of the concept of inodes (df -i and du --inodes /* are useful in these situations)

@Ferrybig Any clues to resolving it?

1
A: Find where inodes are being used

JonoBI find it quicker and easier to drill down using the following command: $ sudo du -s --inodes * | sort -rn 170202 var 157325 opt 103134 usr 53383 tmp <snip> You can then go in to var for example and see what the big inode using directories are in there.

@rene it hasn't been added to Smokey just yet because we have problems basically - will be later (if we don't forget)

@Ferrybig unrecognized option --inodes

2:10 PM
This re: rekuza

@Henders no, I mean, I understood what you wanted to say, but the wording you used made me think of something else... someone not to be explained here...
(excuse misdirected ping pls)

No inodes? Nice change of pace
@Undo that's a new coreutils thing
you probably don't have it

@Undo You migth be able to use one of the solutions on this page: stackoverflow.com/questions/347620/… I think one of the perl/python scripts migth be your best on your box, because most people use du --inodes
Or you can follow it from the principle that every file equals 1 inode, and search for directories with thousands of files

Can someone mark http.us.debian.org as not spam?

@GrantGarrison it's a general detection pattern, not something we can selectively whitelist without some heavy duty restructure in the detection pattern
the actual detection pattern is "URL in title"

I can add a #notspam tag if you like, but Smokey doesn't care about those -- they're just for humans

3:31 PM
^ this

@NobodyNada Why? Shouldn't that affect Smokey?

@GrantGarrison No, it's just domain categorization for humans
Smokey doesn't care about anything from MS -- it's access to MS is almost entirely write-only
MS tells Smokey to failover and post messages in chat, and informs it about CI status, but not a whole lot else AFAIK
MS is supposed to be an "optional" extension for Smokey -- all of the spam-handling is done Smokey-side

@NobodyNada So would it pick up google.com as a reason to flag?

@GrantGarrison Sure, unless there's Smokey-side exceptions for that

@GrantGarrison No you don't. Multiple urls in title still count as one reason. Url in body only counts if it looks spammy (matches a pattern, or is blacklisted)
And if the reason weight is that high, then it means it's a very good reason

and has a very low rate of false-positives against that reason, typically.

@CalvT븃 debian.org is not a good reason.

Yeah - reason weight is calculated automatically based on tps vs fps

@GrantGarrison True. But I'm not addressing that, I'm addressing the fact you said "Throw in a few more links and we have a fp autoflag", which is not true.

JAD
@GrantGarrison you shouldn't judge the individual reasons too heavily on their fps. With reporting, it's better to have a few too many reports, as long as they are not flagged. Note that this is entirely different to autoflagging.

Historically, that reason has had a very good tp rate

@JAD 95 just concerns me because it's halfway there.
