Easy to learn, surprisingly fast, works like magic. Based on Ruby btw.
Django is the Python equivalent

Ruby scares me... I prefer Python
Win10 has a Bash subsystem that you can use.
@iBug Sorry if we made you feel bad about that :P
Python seems a bit low-level at times, and it lacks multiline lambdas.
I already know that PHP is the best language in the world.
I just want something that runs directly.
You could also try Malebolge CGI
08:44
Minimum configuration wanted.
only slightly harder than PHP, and infinitely more fun
Minimum configuration would be a raw HTTP server in Ruby
FWIW, you just apt install apache2 and put the php under /var/www/html then you'll be able to visit it with a browser.
@AJ "PHP done correctly almost always fits the bill" that's true, but 1) that's true for every language out there 2) PHP makes it surprisingly hard to do things correctly. And yes, my website runs on WordPress (so PHP), but I'm glad the custom development has been limited to the bare minimum.
The best way to use PHP is to code a custom FFI that forwards the request to a Ruby back-end

Flask (or the newer Quart), Bottle, Django, Pyramid, they all work
There's this cool thing called routing, that lets you do the same things that htaccess could, but much more easily. It's built into pretty much anything but PHP.

Did you know: Smarty, the most common view engine for PHP, does not have a sorting primitive. Because, you know, the order you display stuff in is a part of the business logic, not of the view.
I ended up implementing a selection sort. Kind of a pain, really.
And PHP sorting ...
> is not even consistent: NULL < -1, and NULL == 0. Sorting is thus nondeterministic; it depends on the order in which the sort algorithm happens to compare elements.
Ruby does better: by default, comparing anything with nil yields an exception.
You all are right.
I'm stuck at preg_match now.

nope.
Though usually you'd use it in a case statement, which Ruby turns into regex === foo. It also populates $1..$9 with the captured groups.
I am simply using if(preg_match('/abc/', 'abc'))

Never mind...
09:01
if "abc" =~ /abc/ and if /abc/ =~ "abc" both work

The thyroid gland, or simply the thyroid, is an endocrine gland in the neck, consisting of two lobes connected by an isthmus. It is found at the front of the neck, below the Adam's apple. The thyroid gland secretes thyroid hormones, which primarily influence the metabolic rate and protein synthesis. The hormones also have many other effects including those on development. The thyroid hormones triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4) are created from iodine and tyrosine. The thyroid also produces the hormone calcitonin, which plays a role in calcium homeostasis. Of course. I'm running as root.
It's just a Raspberry Pi 3.

from the documentation :P
@iBug That's just telling you that there was an error code. Check what the error code was because that will tell you what you need to do.
So how do I enable that treatment?
Sounds like an XY problem.
@iBug Oh sure, lemme google more ;) I'm on a lunch break for another 10 minutes :P
I want the server think the target is /whatever.php when I visit /whatever.
11:49
@iBug Been a while since I used a Pi but I think the default config is a little non-standard. You should probably include Raspberry Pi while searching.
@PeterJ Good. I'll try it.
Getting a .htaccess file to run is a pretty standard thing to do on apache. It sounds to me like a syntax error because the config files are pretty touchy. If you look at what the actual error you're getting is, that should tell you exactly the problem to look for a solution to.
