it seems that if you have enough reps and have a ton of answers mod flags get ignored

I just realized that
wow
@Cow That's not entirely true. One thing we have to weigh is the cost of doing something. This user has been self-promoting for years. Would you mod flag each and every post they've made? Knowing that there's a pattern is useful
I mean, they have 84 posts with a link. And the few I've looked at are making the reference inside otherwise helpful posts. As a mod, you have to weigh all that
I'll still mod flag, as I don't think there's a downside to the mods knowing about someone's large scale self promotion
What I can assure you is that we will be talking to this user about their history

@Fastnlight Just as an FYI (since you're here), be careful spam flagging single instances of lacking disclosure. Spam flags need to be clear and those often aren't. Sometimes just warning a user that they need disclosure is all that's needed.
Spam flags get the most attention, so it's tempting to just red-flag everything, but remember those flags carry special penalties so we're leery of sustaining them when there's no clarity.
19:45
@Cow I mean, I think you're supposed to custom flag one but include enough information there that a mod can identify the problem. For example, you could include a link to a SO search for all posts with that domain
Cow
Cow
@Laurel Yeah I tried that with another user, it's still pending and I'll wait to see what the result of that will be, but thank you
Yeah, don't flag the whole pattern. Just flag one with details. Once we see it, we can typically figure out what to do with it
@Cow On SO, there's a lot of flags, so that's to be expected

It's an echo
Honestly, I think it does nothing. Downloads a bunch of pages - sequential IDs of posts, then echoes some stuff and lightly modifies the downloaded HTML I can't see it do anything useful. I suppose another tool might then pick these up for later processing but at best this script scrapes a few things.
Echoes into a file. Does it get executed?
Actually doesn't echo anything to the screen, just redirects to a file
@GeneralGrievance No, it appends
Also hilariously at the top there's echo "12345" | sudo -S su -c
Dunno what that does.
[ SmokeDetector | MS ] Potentially bad keyword in body (1): Assistance identifying iterator bug for basic orderbook implementation‭ by dj123‭ on codereview.SE (@Mast)
21:06
I think -S means read from stdin for password, so it's trying to put in 12345 as your password just to execute the su -c command.
And I think su -c is supposed to have an argument to execute as a command afterwards, but here there was nothing. So I guess the whole script won't even do anything. Probably nonsense after all.
Might just be AI generated.
The funny thing is that the poster edited to add a line.
@VLAZ I don't see that being at all likely
"Generate me some code that does nothing" dunno.
I'm somewhat basing it on "MADE IN COMMUNIST RUSSIA BY ANDREW GAIDUKEVICH WITH WIRELESS ASSISTANT!"
I don't know what a "wireless assistant" is but it might be what wrote that code.
It might be a monkey. Monkeys don't have wires, right?
