@IanCampbell No, that's not spam. The question is asking about their site, but without linking to it, there's no promotion. If there wasn't a legit question in there, I might consider it spam, but as it stands, it's fine.
I'm not trying to imply it's clear cut necessarily, I just don't feel that particular question exists solely to promote their website. The hypothetical SO question you mentioned falls much more in that category.
