Is this report spam? I gave tpu because it looks spammy, and the answer is deleted, but I'm not sure. There's no affiliation I can see, and the link seems relevant. Also, it's very similar to this FP.
@cigien The question seems to be a support question for the blog editing software they're using, so a tool to help make GIFs doesn't seem to actually answer the question. Combine that with the fact that the user joined today and the question is pretty old, it feels really spammy to me. Lack of affiliation is a definite hit to that assertion, though.
Side note: Sites that have little support chat popups to make the site feel welcoming and informative are neither and they should be nuked from orbit. Especially if they make sound effects when they pop up/send another chat message.
> Charcoal project members cast spam flags on this post, but at least one subsequent reviewer isn't confident that's the right decision. Please review and undelete the post if necessary; see charcoal-se.org/smokey/Auto-Mod-Flags for more details about this flag. - SmokeDetector 47 secs ago
The only spam flag cast on that post was retracted before any mod got to handling the flags.
FR: only raise that auto-flag if there were still pending spam flags at the time of deletion? If someone wrongly flagged as spam and then thought better of it, no need to raise an extra flag for that.
@Mast Yes, one spam flag which was invalidated. Nothing needs investigating for this particular post; I'm just suggesting a change in the criteria for raising the "Charcoal project members cast spam flags ..." autoflag, if possible.
@Randal'Thor There's no way for MS to know overall if there are still pending flags. It may be able to determine if a user who has flagged through MS still has a flag pending. I'd have to double-check to see what, if any, different response the SE API gives without actually having the user's account attempt to re-flag with something else. However, it's just not possible to know about flags which might have been raised by other users.
In other words, partial implementation might be possible, but not complete.
Unfortunately, MS doesn't directly know about flag retractions, because, despite multiple requests, SE has never implemented flag retraction for the SE API. Thus, in order to retract a flag, the user must go to the question page and use the flag dialog. Flag retraction could be done with a userscript, but MS can't retract flags, so doesn't currently make an attempt to determine if any flags it knows about are still active.
@Randal'Thor Overall, it sounds like what you're asking for wrt. the custom flag would be beneficial. It may, however, not be possible and/or technically difficult. We can put it on the list of desired changes, but there's really no time-frame for those, other than "6–8". :;
