@cigien what is the difference between regex of Python and PCRE(PHP<7.3)?
I am trying to run this /duro[\W_]*+xl(?:[\W_]*+(?:male|review|enhancement|\d++|[\da-f]{5,}+)s?)*/igon regex101.com
But it doesn't work if I select Python in flavor.
Default is PCRE(PHP<7.3)

Since that URL didn't appear in the post, but "Tlab Global" did, I would recommend adding a watch for that.
The URI apparently got stripped out during submission.

BTW can I search a regex on SE search?

HAHAHA!

@Yatin That's how they spell "No" in Texas ;)

Cody is from Texas?

@Yatin Well, you can always create each individual permutation and search separately. :(

Ohk

@Yatin Yup! Born and raised, lived in Texas most all of my life.

Oh cool

Although I worked the past 3 years in California, I've been back in Texas since March 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Austin, specifically. No, I don't have a Texas accent.

6:06 AM
Wow you were about 3000 km away from home

Yeah. Texas and California are both big places, then there are other states in between.
From Austin, I can drive straight for 10 hours on highways (so, approximately 70 miles per hour) without leaving the state. And Austin is pretty much in the center of the state.

bingo, that was a spam seed

From what I've seen in the transcript, this Celebrity thing is a more recent occurrence. I haven't looked in detail though.

A more subtle point was that she spells her name with an "a", so maybe the regex should account for that.
I realize there's no way that anyone could have possibly gotten that message from what I typed.

No, that one went over my head :p Not a bad idea though.

[ SmokeDetector | MS ] Potentially bad keyword in answer (1): Epic Games Verifier Cannot be Uninstalled by user341125 on android.SE (@AndrewT.)

@Yatin The exact differences are multiple and would take considerable time/space/effort to detail (and someone has probably already made something of a stab at it, so I'd just search, if I was answering in full). However, we don't use the stock Python regular expression engine. SmokeDetector uses the regex regular expression engine, which is much closer to PCRE (or PCRE2) than it is to the Python re engine.
Why they used Python 2.7 for new functionality, given that Python 2 is EOL, I have no idea.
I'm also not familiar enough with the PHP implementations of PCRE and PCRE2 to be able to tell you which is closer to what we use. Interestingly, given that JavaScript now supports variable length look-behinds, it may be more effective to use the JavaScript engine, under some circumstances. It doesn't support possessive quantifiers (e.g. \W*+), but that will, usually, be less of a functional difference than not supporting variable length look-behinds.

6:20 AM
@CodyGray You can't do that here :) The buy order thing's not what's causing the issue I'm pretty sure. It's the cbd gummies and I can't change the order of that. Unless I add cbd and gummies to the alternation, but I definitely don't want to just be catching poor Rachael Ray

No, they've probably already shipped. Too late to change the order.

Ohk understood. Thank you @Makyen :)

@CodyGray I already spent so much time learning everything, including subtle nuances, about how one Q&A engine works. Having to learn all about a new engine from the ground up would be too much work :)

@Makyen btw why paste it in the chat too?

@Yatin Because SE chat automatically posts that whenever the room description is changed. It's not optional.

:O

@gparyani Agreed, I've essentially reached the same decision. :-)
@Yatin And the room description changes occur all without a diff (that I can find), which is why I had to ask.

@CodyGray I'm not aware of a diff being available. It's yet another chat frustration.

diff?

You know what a diff is: it shows the difference between two versions of text, usually with red/green colors and/or strikeout/underline formatting.
It's an abbreviation of "difference", and also the name of a *nix command.
Edit/revision histories on Stack Overflow have the option to show a diff, which makes it obvious what the changes are.

Ah okay, now I understand what you were saying
