O2 UK (legally incorporated as Telefonica UK Ltd.) is a British telecommunications services provider, owned by Telefónica, headquartered in Slough, England. O2 is the second-largest mobile network operator in the United Kingdom, with 26.4 million subscribers as of February 2020, after EE, and followed by Vodafone and Three.The company was formed in 1985 as Cellnet, at first a joint venture between BT Group and Securicor, later wholly owned by BT. Cellnet was one of the first two mobile networks in the UK, alongside Vodafone. BT demerged its mobile division in 2002 as mmO2 plc, which introduced...

@rene That makes complete sense, it's better to be safe with these things. I was just wondering if it maybe had something to do with SOCVR specific policies. And yes, it's within 6 to 8 weeks, but I think you accidentally said 6 to 8 days :p.

@Spevacus Hmm, is the latest message from rene a joke referring to that meme then? I find rene's jokes a little hard to parse anyway. I'll need more morning coffee at least to be sure. If it took 6 to 8 months that would be fine too. I just remember waiting for a week, and then wondering what I was doing wrong, and why no one was telling me what I was doing wrong :p

@cigien what is lacking is a clear separation of concerns in our backroom. The request gets discussed in the general channel but when events happen your request gets pushed out of sight. It is just the utter chaos in the backroom that causes the delay. We try to hide as much of possible of the chaos from SOCVR . But now you know. Don't tell anyone.

@cigien "6 to 8 (insert measurement of time here)" is quite possibly rene's favorite meme, (or at least I think so, he uses it quite often :D).

This profile had all the posts deleted for promoting Mito without disclosure. They appear to have made a new profile. This time, affiliation is disclosed, but all posts are still promotional. Also, profiles should be merged anyway, right? Do I raise a custom flag?

@cigien according to the website, they were two different people. If they're disclosing affiliation, I personally would wait a bit and see if they continue flooding us with Mito.

@cigien Only one of those answers seems like a justifiable place to promote their product with affiliation. The other two (one and two) seem to just be shoe'd in there for little reason.
One more would be cause for concern.

@cigien Telling them to lay off on the promotion, or ..?

@Spevacus Ah. Actually, I'm not at all clear on what qualifies as excessive promotion. I read up on it, and the language is, understandably, vague.
@Ollie Yeah, pretty much.

@cigien *shrug* Don't know. Never done it myself, nor have I seen a diamond-speckled moderator do that.

@cigien It's up for interpretation, definitely. If you have like... 3 of your 12 answers advertising a product you work on, and those 3 answers are places where your product is relevant, and affiliation is disclosed, there's no problem at all, I would say. If you have ~4 to ~5 answers, all promoting your product, with half of those in places where the reference borders on/is noise, then that's not okay, I think.
@Ollie Most of the time that would be in the form of a private mod message, or a comment on a deleted post, I would imagine.

@Spevacus good point. Mods can comment on deleted posts?

Yep. And they can also leave comments before they nuke 'em, of course.
