Last I saw we crushed out 2000 goal for feedbacks for today (3200ish IIRC). Also we're just about to break into the 15ks for review queue length.
2

12:08 AM
You know, once the current queue is destroyed, I don't see any reason to keep the "50+ reviews" shown on the Review dropdown on MS. In the related issue for MS on github, Undo mentions that a tooltip appearing on mouse-hover is a viable alternative. I kinda agree with that.
6

Agreed. Assuming we do get around to destroying it.

At this pace, I think we will. Keeping it down is another matter, though, I suppose. We're not always going to have a review-crushing moose around. ;D

As far as I know it was back up without any intervention. @thesecretmaster tried to ssh in, but wasn't able to do so (no surprise, given what you've stated as the issue).

@Rubiksmoose That post's deleted at this point. I didn't get a chance to see it whatever comment was made, or exactly what you are bringing to our attention, but, yes, we should avoid linking spammers to Charcoal. In fact, we should avoid giving any response on spam. Just flag it. If it needs more explanation than a spam flag gives, then custom flag. Charcoal has a specific policy about commenting on posts which were brought to people's attention as a result of SD reports:
Mar 4 '18 at 21:33, by ArtOfCode
New policy: Please don't comment on posts Smokey reports unless you're familiar with the site.
In general, "familiar" means that you spend time on the site for reasons other than responding to SD reports. This is usually evidenced by gaining reputation on the site significantly beyond the association bonus.
If that policy does allow someone to interact with the post beyond flagging, then they still shouldn't be giving spammers more information.

@Mast thanks for asking, maybe I should post a more principled answer on the Team. Briefly, when many new spam domains appear on the same IP address, it's good to have a watch on that, and once we see enough, we can blacklist -- what constitutes "enough" is not carved in stone, but I'd say roughly several months on watch without any FPs, or 30+ TP hits in a shorter time
secondly if there's an egregious spammer we want to push over autoflagging threshold this is a mechanism we can use (think RCMB.in for example)
hard to say generally whether this is really worth the effort, we certainly have seen many #drugs and #escorts reuse IP addresses we have watched previously so in those cases it seems worth keeping up

@SmokeDetector This was an edit, which was edited again during the grace period to result in a null-edit. While this is repairable, having that many copies of an image is at least quite close to being abusive and/or vandalism, IMO. While my preference would be to edit the post, I'd be OK with this edit being blocked at the system level, so, IMO, TP is fine for this.

@Mast metasmoke.erwaysoftware.com/domains/tags/1886 the tag description basically says these are exempt from domain + ASN checks, dunno if it's been kept in sync with findspam.py(I probably overlooked it if I have made edits in those parts)

@Mast "#whitelisted" came into existence well after #notspam. Unfortunately, "#whitelisted" is poorly named and confusing. It applies only to a small subset of detections (i.e. 4 detections, two of which are inappropriate). Given the way people have been applying the tag on MS, it can't be used generally, because people have been applying it to domains that are not 100% not spam. It needs to have a different name, like "#ASN_NS_whitelisted", so its use is clear.

So, basically, the whole thing should be shoveled through and revised? Ouch.

6:47 AM
or just removed from ms if we can't keep it synced

Possibly.
If the value of the tag is watered down too much, removal may as well be the best option.
Start over if need be, but repairing may be more work than restarting.

It's not unreasonable to have it. It just needs to be clear exactly what it does by its name, so that people are not making assumptions about it. It's reasonable and good to have a way to remove domains from the ASN and NS checks, but there are different criteria applied to removing domains from those checks and removing them in general.

Oh, there's definitely value in having such a system in place. If used correctly.
If

Yes, if. The problem comes when people see "ooohhh, whitelisting... I want to use that", without understanding what it's for and what the criteria are for applying it to a domain, or what domains it might contain and if the list is applicable to other detections, which it really isn't and shouldn't be (as it currently exists, and as a ASN/NS whitelist will ever be).
Yes, it would be nice to have a list for those too, but that's something that also would need to be clearly communicated to everyone who can apply tags, particularly if we are going to have a tag that is really a whitelist, as in don't detect anything in this domain for any detection.

That would be quite a step beyond what it does now though, wouldn't it?
It now only excludes from NS and ASN checks, which are really helpful to spot unknown domains.

6:58 AM
No. The problem is that there are a couple of other detections which it excludes from, because people see "whitelist" and think "shiny, I'll use that".

Oh.
Darn.

So, the name needs to actually say what it's a whitelist for and not imply that it's a general whitelist.
