both CircleCI and Travis have flakier DNS than I do; it seems it's hard to get right, I'm guessing especially for bigger farms

wat
@ThomasWard do your Smokey instance servers have dig installed?

they SHOULD
let me check
@ArtOfCode if they don't for some reason I should write an inbuilt around DNSPython

ahhhh wait
i think i see what you did
you need to shlex split that

or split it

1:28 PM
try with the split

yeah... I blame the docs, they had an example with it all in one

because subprocess' check output and such are lower level than .run so
@ArtOfCode your docs are fubar :P

@ArtOfCode if we're going to rely on dig which isn't default in many installations nowadays of other environments, we might want to just roll a Python resolver stub via dnspython locally within SmokeDetector and use it to do the DNS resolutions
i can provide examples if you really need it
because then we aren't reliant on the resolvers on the system itself
also
we should probably force the use of a specific resolver

user435118
What does dig do?

@Daniil tool to do DNS queries

@ThomasWard I deliberately didn't, because this is intended to flush out any issues with instances having different DNS results
!!/dig joyoshare.com
...that bodes well

@ArtOfCode which we can also do by forcing it to use a specific nameserver if we want it to

              8.8.4.4

user435118
@ThomasWard Why would we need that?

@ArtOfCode i just set ResolveD to not cache, so it will always generate a DNS request (to Google)

it's Cloudflare
@ArtOfCode
so Results May Vary depending on what IP is shown by Cloudflare at the given time
and it goes through CF's proxy
curl -I joyoshare.com

expect-ct: max-age=604800, report-uri="https://report-uri.cloudflare.com/cdn-cgi/beacon/expect-ct"
which we can see from the server header
so it's a CF proxied IP
@ArtOfCode added some research data to the bug RE: cloudflare proxied site results
@ArtOfCode I'm tempted to say Not A Bug only because it's CF proxied now
