Yes @Catija, I can still see it :D

@Undo That's a private notifications channel I was testing. For science! I'm not using it and it's really not good that it shows up for everyone. I've been talking somewhat with the Teams people about it. They're considering changing how they work but I'm guessing it's not high priority. I can forward you the emails if you're interested.

@bwDraco I don't think there's a lot of insight into specific techniques on the spammer side. Understanding what you are doing and what its consequences are would cause you to stop spamming
but there are guerrilla marketers who understand regex, bayesian filtering etc
I think they regard bayesian filters as the #1 deterrent that they need to work around
hence the spam posts with random word salad
and yet with proper feature engineering I think it could boost our accuracy significantly, too

@tripleee How about "成绩单"? It's often found in college spam posts.

A J
@tripleee I think that's a tricky part. This Korean troll promotes new things every time.

@TetsuyaYamamoto Google Translate gives me "transcript", is this something which could occur in programming questions on the Chinese SO?

A J
I thought we could watch Gangnam, but they have left promoting it long ago.

Also there's that viral song...

@AJ we have some experience of that from the pharma spam gang(s), just heap on phrases into the watch list, then remove the ones which produce FPs, and promote the good ones to proper blacklist
and eventually clean out the no-ops from the watch list

Well, the one I watched earlier could actually be blacklisted, as it has 11 hits and no FP. If it could go on the websites blacklist I would have done so, but SD doesn't recognized it as a website due to obfuscation. I'm also not much of a fan of directly blacklisting a relatively complex/loose regex without having it spend at least a bit of time on the watchlist, just to make sure nothing's severely broken.
