It seems the DB dump does not include the Posts table?

Should do

wtf
did someone else review this at the same time
because this domain suddenly just got tagged with "#drugs" 4 times

@quartata no, JS multi-load bug, reload the page

@ArtOfCode thank you!
That's definitely bigger than the dump I had -- it was only 8 MB gzipped for some reason (61MB unzipped)

drugs, game-coins, cheats, youtube-downloader and packers-and-movers seem to be the most common stuff going through here

12:13 AM
Timestamp was 1526523006; I downloaded it from the MS page with db dumps

O.o yeah, should be hitting 250MB with the posts table

Hmmm
@tripleee should we bother to take the time to do whois lookups for #whoisguard?
we've got a lot to go through here, not sure if we should

@quartata I've found a couple with both cheats and youtube-downloader spam

@quartata and software-utility, occasional warez, visit-my-website

most of these old ones are not using whoisguard
@NobodyNada I've found 3 of those
pretty interesting
they just put whatever they want for the route lol
What's the tag for "earn money from home"?
it's not #counterfeit-money, that's different
...huh, don't see one
I'll make it then
I'll do "investment" for this one

@Undo Wanna try that OPTIMIZE TABLES thing? If you've had the logging on?

Sure, whatcha got?

Well, seems like the big ones are posts and feedbacks, so let's try those
OPTIMIZE TABLES posts, feedbacks; while your in the database. I think you don't need to prefix the tables with db names.

1:35 AM
Shouldn't need to
metasmoke.posts	optimize	note	Table does not support optimize, doing recreate + analyze instead
metasmoke.posts	optimize	status	OK
metasmoke.feedbacks	optimize	note	Table does not support optimize, doing recreate + analyze instead
metasmoke.feedbacks	optimize	status	OK
... that looks horrible
17.6s. Engine is InnoDB, latin1 encoding

In theory that should do general cleanup and optimization

Would be interesting to know what it did, but we don't have that info

I believe it does some space optimization and does magic to make indexes faster.
I believe we should see the largest changes with things like search. Or it might not have done much. We'll find out. The next thing I've been looking into is some of the config vars to make it more memory efficient.
By the way, totally unrelated note, but for a while I thought your domain was erwaysofsoftware not erwaysoftware

@GaurangTandon Post Neutralization reaction between ammonia and nitric acid does not look like spam.

@SmokeDetector shouldn't this be caught by the "repeating characters in the post" regex?

Probably too many other unique characters
also, technically not the same char repeating
b's and h's

@Undo well the post has a "bbbbbbbbb" in the middle ;)

Dunno what the threshold is, think it's higher than that

So, I've started work on the conflicting feedbacks review queue. But I'm not sure if I'll finish before Sunday because I've got a load in tomorrow and my hands are gonna be very ouch.

1:54 AM
@Undo o.O Consider lowering the threshold then, or is there actually any situation where "bbbbbbbbb" would make some sense? I can't think of any.

@Undo As someone who's relatively new here, it seems like gameification is a big part of it. Trying to increase your % accuracy, decrease TTD, feedback first so it shows up in chat, etc.

@K.Dᴀᴠɪs Your flag condition was disabled: Accuracy must be over 99.75%

What changed there?

Is it a scheduled job?

2:09 AM
@thesecretmaster Could be, I suppose - but we haven't put much conscious effort into gamifying anything. Sometimes effort to not gamify things wrong, but that's about it
@thesecretmaster ah, yep. 2am UTC.
Must have been the too-much-success edge case. FPs recalc immediately.

@Undo I don't think it was intentional, but it seems to have worked out that way. You could think about the different priv levels as "goals"/"leveling up" done by playing well/giving good feedback and appropriately using the tools. And the whole thing about decreasing TTD by using autoflagging. I think it's gameified in a good way, the same way the rest of SE is.

i dont know about the rest of the people here but it has nothing to do with gamification for me

Anonymous
I just don't like spam.

Not that I've helped much :-) But I'll try to if I see something that needs reporting.

fp by thesecretmaster

2:40 AM
@user2476549 Commit messages don't need to be works of art. They should communicate what the commit does. Just describe what you did, and sometimes why you did it, so that 3 years from now someone glancing at the commit message can get a feel for what the commit does, or so someone can search and find it when they are looking for when something happened. If you renamed a bunch of (unspecified) files, just say something like "Renamed a bunch of files to make things more readable."

Expletives are appropriate when needed.
Like when Flake is nagging you for the eightieth time today

@user2476549 consider using a text expander if you find yourself typing that long phrase repeatedly

Is there any visual difference between a report for an autoflagged v non-autoflagged post?

The chat report?

there's a flag on the top level by the ttle

@thesecretmaster You mean the post's page on MS? If so, look at the flag symbol to the left of the post's title.

There's a script (might be in FIRE? AIM) that adds an icon, but at the time the chat report is made we haven't made a decision on autoflagging yet

Ah, because autoflagging lives in MS

@quartata I don't understand the question, if something is tagged #whoisguard then it already has whois info because that's where you can see that it is registered through WhoisGuard (or Domains by Proxy or PrivacyProtect.org or what have you)
so for a typical pharma domain I would (1) tag as #drugs (2) do a whois lookup (3) see if there are any indicators in the whois data that it was registered through an anonymity service, and, if so, tag appropriately; and (4) similarly check if the name servers in the whois data are interesting, and, if so, tag appropriately
occasionally "interesting" only becomes clear after you see many similar entries but with the SQL data explorer you can now search on the whois data we have stored
so you can go back and check if many domains we have whois data for have the same, or somehow similar, information
also, searching Charcoal Test for Halflife reports for a particular name server can be revealing
so for example chat.stackexchange.com/… shows that there is no single popular NS arrangement involving todd.cs.cloudflare.com
whereas some of the other combinations are very popular in spam
which reminds me, some of the watched NS should probably now be promoted to properly blacklisted

@thesecretmaster the real criterion is "spammers who stopped" but it's really hard to establish anyone's individual effort as particularly making that happen
I think there are like 2 or 3 spam operations which no longer target Stack Exchange, quite possibly because of things we did to alert their upstream hosting etc
but they are small potatoes in terms of spam volume compared to the pharma operation
the "tech training in India" which was prevalent on Stack Overflow a couple of years ago is what got me engaged here in the first place and they are completely gone now

Hopefully that doesn't mean you'll be on your way now
