@JF Not React. But yeah, sure. This could double as a way of incorporating that MS frontend I was writing...
I kinda like that because that way it lets me table having to think about the views: just cough up all the data
Although it feels weird to write a Rails app that's just models and controllers hahaha

Not sure how that wasn't caught... o.O
!!/alive

@Henders Of course

Why would it be caught?

@quartata That pattern looks like it's already caught by Bad ns for domain in answer and Bad ns for domain in body; append -force if you really want to do that.

@quartata personally, because I'm more than willing for Smokey to use the resources on my EC2 (because I pay for it regardless) but I don't always have time to keep logging in to pull it. If something fails over, we should be checking whether it's up to date or not. I don't see it as a problem unless there's been some big failure which requires us to manually intervene and I always get a ping about those. Was 'Henders/EC2' the problem? What was the standby for?

The guy (claiming to be) from weblineindia has been rather quiet, it seems ...

@Henders Oh no it was not you
The standby was just to see if maybe rebooting worked
the problem was Nobody's instance

Maybe some system to notify us of outdated instances would be handy.

@quartata Somehow there was a merge conflict in watched_keywords

4:30 PM
that's what I figured

I realize after the fact that uncommitted local changes wouldn't make sense
since otherwise it wouldn't be able to branch for a watchlist anyways
all right wish me luck trying to build ruby 2.5
this time if it doesn't link with OpenSSL then it's just dumb

Cool.
When you get a moment, can you confirm that this failure to Helios was a local issue and not an AWS one? Happened at: 2017-01-07 16:44 UTC
I suspect it was a local DNS blip because it failed to MS too at the same reboot

@Andy DNS resolves fine here for yy9bl73174.execute-api.us-east-2.amazonaws.com

No errors on the blacklist/watch-keyword end point?

5:01 PM
That requests error looks decidedly local, but I'll look

Eh. I am pretty sure it's local. I am looking through my logs and had another failure at the same time on something else.

I don't see any log entries at all for that timeframe

anyways the point is
we're armed now
we can find this

I already had two!

@quartata @ArtOfCode Can you please update the commands list to include it.

5:25 PM
@WELZ it may not be in the commands list by next week
@ArtOfCode hm?

@quartata arms

oh
don't you want 3
Anywho something to keep in mind is that if this is an API problem in bodyfetcher Smokey almost always fails silently
It just puts it back in the queue
So we won't find any errors
Ohhh nice trap Ruby makefile
It turns out some autoconf task was run in advance before they zipped it up
so if you try to do make -B it tries to redo that part and fails because it's missing autoconf

> I think that would qualify as not smart, but genius....and a very stable genius at that!

nice
@Andy my greatest asset in life has been viewing things through the fog of total insanity

ha.

5:35 PM
and most importantly
I got that commit to pass Flake first try
if that's not a sign of unparalleled genius I don't know what is
my greatest accomplishment
the only thing with meaning in my life

Add the bullet point to the resume/CV
"Passed Flake in one commit"
HIRE THIS PERSON!

no no it's 2018 here's how you phrase it
"first tried flake eeeediot"
so professional
ok I don't see an error about OpenSSL so I might have gotten this right
nope
oh wait this might be the wrong version of gem
nope, doesn't work
I don't get it
whatever I'll just use my VM

ask @Undo how he does Ruby on a mac

probably using brew
What I don't get is that I've done all the things necessary to link with OpenSSL and it still doesn't work
This time there wasn't even an error in the build log
before it would complain
hmmm ok I've got 2.3 on this vagrant instance
good enough

Stickers emails!

5:49 PM
@ArtOfCode What?

probably a "do you want stickers" email for one of art's mod site

Nope they're for us
ok now do I actually remember how to use bundler
that's a negative

@DJMcMayhem JNat just sent out address-collection emails for stickers

So you need emails for everyone whose getting stickers

No, mailing addresses
presumably
like that thing where you have to lick the envelopes and get paper cuts

that thing
@ArtOfCode what version of Rails do you want

@quartata latest non-alpha
beta is fine

hmmm do I actually want stickers
tough choices

@WELZ depends if you're on this list or not

RIP, never got around to requesting my name be placed on the list
I'll be fine though I don't need stickers :p

5:54 PM
you're a mod you'll get some eventually

ya

@Riker same lol

you can expect your swag in 6-8 weeks, hopefully

No, appointed mods don't get stickers

5:56 PM
@Mithrandir when their site graduates?

@Mithrandir oh yes they do
you just gotta ask for it

Well, sure - anyone can send an email to JNat and if they have a good reason they'll get stickers :P

@ArtOfCode Metasmoke's gem file confuses me, I didn't know 5.2 existed
is that an rc?

@quartata what's confusing?
not unless it has rc in the version

rails homepage says latest is 5.1.4, and >= 5.2.0 didn't work

5:59 PM
Lol, I just got rate-limited trying to hide and unhide all of the SE sites I'm on
