If my account is used for autoflagging on one site, does that count as a visit, thus towards Enthusiast and Fanatic?

I guess not. The flags don't count as a view on the question either.

Oh yes, for those two badges, am I allowed to setup a server that visits the sites for me? Would that count as "abusing"?

@iBug Coughs - I totally don't have an EC2 instance basically just for this

@iBug what's the point?

@שelz BADGES LOTS OF BADGES

so...
artificial obtaining of badges...

@שelz Badges look shiny :)

that sounds like an abuse of the system to just get badges but i'm not sure it'd be easily caught.

well now if there's any doubt, here's the proof lol\

@Glorfindel A comment on the meta post linked above
I did ask a question on Economics Meta, though. And it's still not entirely solved. — Glorfindel Jun 6 '17 at 8:21

ah, of course :)

Any consequence if caught for abusing badges?

@iBug loose all teh badges!
Lol

2:39 PM
@iBug badge death, potential suspension, i'll probably revoke any Smokey privs you have if any because SE TOS violation...

Well I personally visit the flags userscript a lot anyway, the server is in case I miss a day here and there

[tag:plzsendtehbadgez]

@iBug What do you mean by abusing badges?

Actually not that sure why I continue running it as I've got basically all of them

@Magisch Abusing only Enthusiast and Fanatic badge, of course :)

Oh yes, for those two badges, am I allowed to setup a server that visits the sites for me? Would that count as "abusing"?

Anyway I'm going for that US.

I know that other people have been using a cronjob to do that
not sure why you'd want these though

@Magisch Any consequences after that?

gold badges are essentially decoration

2:41 PM
Huh I've more Fanatic badges than Glorfindel

Yeah that's the point: decoration.

not sure, don't remember, didn't care then

If reputation is abused then mods are after you.
But why badges?

@Magisch Well, it was kinda fun to get 70 IDENTIFICATION DIVISION hats on one day during last WB

70? 174...
And it helped find a bug too! Glorfindel found a bug-by-design if you had more than 99 hats

2:44 PM
xd
heh
Now you mention it, I had that bug as well:

:)

14
Q: The number of new hats never gets higher than 99

GlorfindelIt seems the maximum number shown as a badge on the snowflake is 99: From my calculations, it should've shown something like 150 when I made that screenshot. It shouldn't be that hard to show more digits; this is done for the green reputation indicator as well.

How is a ratio of helpful / (helpful + declined) == 0.973?

@iBug Basic math?

when helpful = 973 and declined = 27?

2:50 PM
@Glorfindel Yup
@DavidPostill I mean how an accuracy of 97.3% is, good or bad

pretty good
I'm at 98.81%
0.9881

@iBug But that's not what you asked! ;)

99,55% here
so 0,9955 here

99.85% here

</smug>

on a related note, I i'm already sick and tired of flagging serial voters this week but I have 800 more to flag

OMG.

So I'll be flagging well into next week

I thought 98% is bad because I flag very aggressively.

@ArtOfCode tbf you have a whole lot more flags then I do

2:54 PM
@Magisch do I? What's your total?

I usually do 19 Low Quality reviews then flagging (with checking) and skipping until the whole queue is skipped.

@ArtOfCode 7872

I'm at 5720

huh. TIL

and half of those are autoflags

2:55 PM

I still (just about) have the most autoflags

@ArtOfCode Half...
How long has that been?

ironically, autoflags have been less accurate then I have been (my autoflags at least)

@iBug I was the original flagger :) It's been dry-running on my account since 2016-12-26, and live since... um... 2017-01-02, I think

@DavidPostill Yeah, I had that for chess and a few others. refreshed and it worked.

@ArtOfCode Oops, MS developer

2:56 PM
@ArtOfCode so you're about 500 autoflags ahead of me, give or take

I was first active since January 2017 in Android.SE
My current top flagged site is still Android.

@Henders Yeah, but you might get rate limited ...

And I started participation in other sites in July 2017,

@DavidPostill I took the chance :p

That was Meta, now SO.

2:57 PM
yeah, 2017-01-02 04:18:07

@ArtOfCode Could you be more precise, please?

@ArtOfCode I'm curious, are the information points y'all get about serial voting covered by the mod agreement in terms of confidentiality?

I believe I have the most flags on Android here.

@Henders Refreshed and still getting 404s

@Henders 2017-01-02 04:18:07.628715

2:58 PM
Hmm, I wouldn't refresh again. Just go directly there I guess and add them on :p

@Magisch what information points?

@ArtOfCode Better, thanks.

okay, any stats requests while I've got the MS console open

@ArtOfCode According to some sources that shall not be named, mods have access to a couple different indicators they use in investigating serial voting incidents (like a couple attributes littered across mod pages). I assume these count as PII under the mod agreement?
And even what exactly they are is probably off limits

@Magisch we've got a bunch of tools to help, yeah
and yeah, supah-sekrit

3:00 PM
@ArtOfCode Non-core member with the most autoflags

Because I'd be interested in what exactly your tools can detect so I can improve my scripts to fill in the gaps
And I really don't want to go experimenting
I suspect the mod tools are really incomplete in some areas

@Magisch Are you a mod anywhere?

no
I'm just a user

@Magisch We could tell you but it would be breaking the mod agreement and we would also have to kill you :)

@DavidPostill Yeah, I thought so. Bummer but it is what it is

3:02 PM
@Magisch Steps to becoming a (pro-tem) mod: 1) Find interesting beta 2) Be a good user and ask and answer a lot.

If I ever become a mod I don't want to just for the sake of it
So I'm not going to go around looking for blue everywhere

@Henders Floern

@Magisch So pick a site. Do good stuff. Wait for an election. Worked for me :)

@Magish If you really want to know about the tools, you probably could try to contact SE about it. I don't know how successful you'd be.

@DavidPostill Android is not going to have elections for a long time :(

3:04 PM
@Magisch I can think of a thing or two we have, aren't publicly known, and could help with the script. We could contact a CM and ask them to tell you about it.

That's my best bet.

@thesecretmaster fat chance. My ticket from like august is still open

@Magisch If you'd care to email me a link to your query, I'll tell you how close what you're detecting is to what we could find. That's about as close as I can get :)

I think I crossed the threshold of being very annoying to the staff a long time ago

@Magisch you're not annoying, you just cause a lot of work :P

3:05 PM
@Magisch A mod from here could ping a CM, and you'd probably get a (slightly) faster response.

on pain of annoying shog even more

heh

abusing the fact that only mods can read deleted messages

and room owners :)

room owners cannot
I know because I am one in the awkward silence and I can't

3:07 PM
pretty sure they can... someone wanna test?

@ArtOfCode head over to TAS and delete a post

@ArtOfCode I thought so as well: meta.stackexchange.com/q/230860/295232

ah you're right
it's just in an obtuse menu

19
A: Can a User/Non-Moderator see deleted chat messages on StackOverflow?

balphaYes: In addition to moderators and the originally posting user, the room owners (of the particular room) also have access to the history of deleted messages. However, unless the message's (removed) stub is right there visible in the chat room (in which case you can click "history"), you'll have ...

Anyways, you probably understand now why the SO mods don't want me linking it

3:09 PM
I redacted it, anyway

the witch hunt potential is enormous

Restart: API quota is 9774.

@ArtOfCode Deleted messages can be redacted?

yup

Random restart???

3:10 PM
well

I think that's mod only though

Can one see own deleted message?

mods can purge message edit history, so you can edit a deleted message and purge history, and you can't see the original message
@iBug dunno, try deleting a message and then try to view it

Oh yeah there's a "history" link.

@Magisch tl;dr: your query is way more detailed than our tools

3:12 PM
That's ... not encouraging

why d'you think you're getting so many that mods haven't noticed?
least I assume they haven't noticed

@ArtOfCode because outside of the automated script (which is ridiculously conservative) nobody checks actively?

@Magisch I think the SO mods check fairly regularly

some of the metrics in that query also consititute a security issue that I've raised a ticket to SE about
But I've been given the OK to use them as long as I don't use them to associate votes to users directly
@ArtOfCode Well for one they have this query and the others I've made that are even better at finding voting rings
i don't think anyone cares to check these if I'm not flagging them

oooh there's a voting rings one too? sounds like fun

a giant sprawling spreadsheet maintained by hand

So you can never get voters unless you're a CM?

yes

CM =~ employee.

even CMs have to read the database directly
who votes for whom is one of the best kept secrets of SE

3:28 PM
@Magisch TL;DR: modbuddy pulls the data for you and gives you a review interface

So at all it's the ones who have direct access to DBs.

if I actually make it usable, would you be interested?
@Magisch mods can see voters in aggregate, for detecting voting fraud

@ArtOfCode I think it's only "who voted for who" but not "on which post"

yeah

@ArtOfCode Yeah, thats one of the things I'd like to be able to do but will never be able to
chance of me becoming a mod on SO is = 0%
