@Cerbrus Did you write FIRE?

@Henders yes he did

It's nice. Visually appealing with the little countdown alerts and the blurred background. Pleasant to use.

Thanks :-)
To be fair, the alerts aren't of my own making.
I use a small library for those

@Cerbrus It's neat, the countdown especially.

@SmokeDetector K

@QPaysTaxes that... doesn't load

Hm, the "edited" Icon wasn't showing in FIRE... Fixed that.

Just been playing around with the api - does anyone know if the flag option for spam is always the same code?
I can't load spam.com either
Ah - try via http not https

2:11 PM
@QPaysTaxes Haha, I got an advert before the youtube video so it didn't work very well but I get the gist ;)
Oh.
Missed that :P
Now it doesn't work...

@Henders spam.com

@CalvT no, you need to fetch it with the flag options endpoint first

@ArtOfCode ok, it's just I've tried a few questions now, and they all have 46534?
They were all drupal questions - would that be a reason?

@CalvT shrug

OK :)

all I know is it's not guaranteed to always be the same
you can use how metasmoke does it as a reference, if you need it

Ok, cheers

@QPaysTaxes link me? If the theory is just "if you allocate it you have to free it", then I might be able to have a go

@QPaysTaxes What's that supposed to do and have you churned it through valgrind yet?
I always use valgrind to check for undiscovered memoryleaks in my c code

@CalvT wth is this though
it has half-awful half-good website design
it's neon and flickers, but it scrolls nice

@QPaysTaxes I can't find any references to tkn_copy in the repository

@QPaysTaxes where's tst_pop?
@QPaysTaxes no tkn_copy in tokenizer.c

github.com/nic-hartley/concaten/blob/… line 62 in this file "tst-pop" doesn't have any reference to tkn_copy in what I see

2:24 PM
@QPaysTaxes yeah, that's what I'm looking at
tokenizer.c:102 is not tkn_copy in either branch

@angussidney that's fixable anyways.
@angussidney is it still doing that?

@Riker I was just fixing the link that @QPaysTaxes posted

i know
but still that website

Basically I have no idea wth that website is - ask Q :D

@QPaysTaxes Rubberduck me
and no that's not Cockney rhyming slang

2:27 PM
@angussidney ?

Oh I see

@QPaysTaxes I'm in the dev branch and github.com/nic-hartley/concaten/blob/dev/tests/token_stack.c l102 is ` a_level_push(&tst, NO_ERROR);`

@QPaysTaxes I assume the user's code decides when to pop the token? And you do the actual pop and free?

does your test casing respect this?
meaning, if you pop it as a test case, do you then free it yourself?

@QPaysTaxes Okay, so user code wants to pop a token. It calls... what, tst_pop?
And tst_pop just pops the token off the stack and returns it. Does tst_pop call tkn_free or does the user code have to do that after calling tst_pop?
Yeah, just trying to make sure I understand how it's meant to work
So you think the leak is in tkn_copy? Where does that come in?

2:38 PM
tkn copy seems to be fine imo
you don't free either of the two things you malloc there but that's because they get backed into *into
I suspect this is a cascading error and you just managed to confuse valgrind
@QPaysTaxes Do you ever free the copy token you obtain there

@Magisch that's sorta the conclusion I was coming to. I'm assuming you don't need to free new_origin and new_raw because *into stores a pointer to them and accessing a free'd pointer sounds bad?

@ArtOfCode tkn_free seems to free origin and raw of the token too
So this is correct
essentially both of these are pointers so you can't free them if you give them back
I fail to see how tkn_copy may be the issue here
it doesn't even contain memory you'd have to free

Looks fine to me. Go up a frame. Where's tst_save_state?

like I said, cascading error, and valgrind is pointing to tkn_copy because that is where the memory is allocated that another function fails to free

That... appears to have little to do with it. What calls tkn_copy?
Ah, okay. So tst_save_state just turns tracking on so that when the stack changes, that gets recorded so it can be rolled back.

2:49 PM
@ArtOfCode are answers still getting title checks?

prolly

my guess is it's the title field being set, but without it being set it severely breaks chat messages.
i'll have to find where that message is constructed and then make a change that if post.is_answer then use post.parent.title or smth

@QPaysTaxes Problem might be in tst_restore_state?

@QPaysTaxes Spam handling is evil :p
trust me it's the most complex part of Smokey

@QPaysTaxes Does free(todo) L189 free todo.data.popped, too?
@QPaysTaxes why not?

2:54 PM
hf

@QPaysTaxes Is it, though? I don't know enough about C, here, but it looks to me like tst_restore_state calls tst_push for any previously-popped tokens. tst_push takes a pointer to the stack, and a non-pointer parameter for the copied token. tst_restore_state provides the stack pointer, and todo.data.popped. In turn, todo.data.popped is supplied from tst_pop when it was stored.

!!/alive

@YvetteColomb Kinda sorta

olo

2:59 PM
token_stack.c:101 is not a pointer. So, on token_stack.c:106, are you assigning the same block of memory that copy is stored in, or are you assigning a copy of copy?

If it's the latter, then copy isn't used any further, and should be freed at that point.

@ArtOfCode @Undo @angussidney the core problem here is that answer handling isn't clearly getting the "title" from anywhere, and it's checking titles somewhere in the handler. I'll have to mess with check if spam then

@QPaysTaxes IIRC it won't give you every memory access; just things like mallocs and frees. It's designed for detecting invalid memory accesses; not memory leaks.
Xcode's Instruments has a leak checker -I'll see if I can get anything useful out of that later this afternoon.

I just reviewed this on MS and clicked spam/abusive but it marked it as tp not tpu... Is that normal?
It has no link either

@Henders yeah, normal

and sometimes it submits to MS before my debugger catches the breakpoint. Last several runs I've been stopping it befoire it launches the MS report thread, so meh
that should be the last time I put crap data in MS, if all goes well heh

CI on 3119855 succeeded.

@ArtOfCode i think I've fixed the MS report part with answers not passing a title - in this case, i've got an if statement before the thread that determines whether to pass parent title (if it's an answer) or to pass the title for the post itself (if it's not an answer). This isn't the best process but...

@ThomasWard Things I learned today /dev/full/ is a thing

lol

@ThomasWard Sorry, the post body seemed very out of character

4:25 PM
@quartata well, it's "me" in the sense the report was issued from Overlord's MS key
but it's not me because it's a post written from scratch without actual data from SE API
(the same way we create 'false' posts in the unit tests, works for testing the functionality outside of a Smokey run too, and is how I discovered all the errors in the answer processing that were being absorbed by the try/except:pass stuff)
@quartata but now that answers are properly being handled by Smokey now, we only need to make sure MS gets the right data, which it wasn't on this one

@ThomasWard please stop swearing ... I couldn't see it was dummy data, the post appeared in the READi list.
