that sounds like something shog would write lol
woah, nice reflexes
that was a quick delete

meh, if I had quicker reflexes I wouldn't have posted it :p

8:19 PM
I flagged NAA on this stackoverflow.com/a/43055595/5292302, but it seems very spammy, hosting, what are your taughts?

considering this, I'll go spam.

the FIRE formatting plugin has stopped the audio alerts I get from another plugin, where as Petter's post above triggered it again ... I had thought it was completely AWOL but it seems clear now that free-form posts like the one above still actually trigger it (it beeped again when he edited it!)

8:20 PM
@NobodyNada Post 1: Could not find data for this post in the API. It may already have been deleted.

@Ferrybig do I remember correctly that you were involved in the development of the bleeping userscript? It seems to be served out of a static Github gist URL of yours

@NobodyNada you sure that's not needed? (I think we fixed answer reporting)

@ThomasWard post was deleted a couple seconds before I reported it

yeah it was already reported by @Glorfindel :P

I thought I reported the other answer
Oops

8:28 PM
links are identical heh

@tripleee Most of the userscript was orginally designed by Normal Human, I only ported the Google chrome extension to a userscript, we should really move it to the user scripts repository if we get permission, or rewrite it from the start

8:47 PM
It has 3x NAA feedback, and no TPU?-?. That still seems appropriate.

4x NAA, but meh

@Ferrybig I can talk to @Glorfindel tomorrow

Is there any point to feedback if MS is down?
Did feedback exist before MS even?

getting it to a more official place would be handy though I'm not capable of judging its merits in terms of code quality ... I see some parts which seem rather superfluous (though perhaps they were more useful at the time, before Smokey evolved)
@quartata I guess not

I thought I've seen pre-MS Smokey with feedback
I think it was for blacklisting users only

9:00 PM
feedback existed, yeah

Does MS send any response when a post is reported to it?
(@ArtOfCode)

shrug
if it does, it'll be in PostsController#create

9:29 PM
Looks like it does send an OK/error response but not sure if that then checks if something has been reported already
Shouldn't deletionwatcher be something MS does?

Not sure what to make of this one...

Anyone know a handy jquery event I could bind a function too for when the chat changes (IE - a new message turns up) ?

@quartata [:36321058] That post was not automatically flagged by metasmoke.

@SmokeDetector Apart from the fact that it doesn't answer the question it looks ok. Note: I'm biased as I have a competing answer :)

9:57 PM
@JF That's neat!
I'll have to look into that too

seriously hate all these >.<

I might take a look in a few minutes to hours

@SmokeDetector looking
see the core problem is we don't set answer posts' titles
and that breaks a LOT of things
i'mma look at refactoring the test_post to properly handle titles or not depending on if it's an answer or not
later.
gonna try and bugfix this currently

@ThomasWard Why? We should, and just not pass them to the spam checks if it's an answer

@ArtOfCode Everything is passed through one handler.

@ThomasWard so put a conditional around the call?

10:26 PM
and that does title checks on whether it's got a title
@ArtOfCode let me fix this first and worry about the refactor later

sure

so much stress right now, i am gonna fix the bug, then push EVERYTHING ELSE into tomorrow
and then everyone else can put their comments in this here box. sets a box symlinked to /dev/null next to him
@ArtOfCode know offchance where the feedback replies are handled?

@ThomasWard chatcommunicate, I'd guess
possibly chatcommands

i can't find the string in either place
which is going to be problematic

what string

@ArtOfCode trying to find where we construct the string for this: chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/message/36321253#36321253
and not sure where that's even handled
the only thing I can think of is it's in MS

@ThomasWard on MS
that's websocketed

bleh
@ArtOfCode you can't access what was sent down the socket can you?
because I think that's where a problem is

nope, that's not stored

like the title not passed or something
ffffffffffffffffffffffak
okay then
it's not debuggable then
I need to see what's being passed down, etc.
one second though

10:33 PM
but I can tell you for a fact that this was what got sent: {"message": "naa- by NobodyNada on [](//superuser.com/a/1192932) \[[MS](https://metasmoke.erwaysoftware.com/post/62068)]"}

@ArtOfCode by MetaSmoke to Smokey, or by FDSC or such to MS?

@ThomasWard metasmoke -> smokey

sd 2vandalism-
!!/rev

@ThomasWard If MS didn't send a title, it's because MS doesn't have a title, because it never got sent one from Smokey

@ArtOfCode and there's no way that could happen unless a post was not an answer to begin with
so we'd need to have replica post data to test with

@ThomasWard huh. Welp, I have no idea how or why it happened, but it happened - Smokey didn't send a title.

@ArtOfCode that could have been the issue earlier when it was still giving issues, and it's real late feedback

@ThomasWard I guess, lemme check timestamps

10:38 PM
or there's something broken somewhere, but from MS's perspective, can we add in a code check that replaces null titles or empty titles with "Post ID ######" or something?
reported an hour ago it SHOULD have worked

report 21:37 - was it fixed before or after that

UTC? Probably before

um
might be local
no, Zulu
so there's still a bug in Smokey somewhere

let me check something
@ArtOfCode was that an answer or a question?

@ThomasWard that was a statement

10:42 PM
no i mean the reported post
ya ninny (REALLY stressful day, i'm a bit anti-humor right now)
if post.is_answer:
    t_metasmoke = Thread(name="metasmoke send post",
                         target=metasmoke.Metasmoke.send_stats_on_post,
                         args=(post.parent.title, post_url, reasons, post.body, username,
                               post.user_link, why, post.owner_rep, post.post_score,
                               post.up_vote_count, post.down_vote_count))
else:
    t_metasmoke = Thread(name="metasmoke send post",
                         target=metasmoke.Metasmoke.send_stats_on_post,
@ArtOfCode so one of two cases:
(1) it was processed as NOT an answer, and therefore it got the empty title.

MS constructs that message in api_controller.rb:187 - github.com/Charcoal-SE/metasmoke/blob/…

(2) It was processed as an answer and post.parent.title was empty
which should NEVER happen

@ThomasWard wait, why are not-answers getting no title assigned?
or empty title, whatever
questions definitely have titles

@ArtOfCode i'm going to rewind time by about 30 minutes and explain to you how the existing test_post functionality is fubar
@ArtOfCode and you're right, they SHOULD get titles
post.is_answer is true if it's an answer
which is set as bodyfetcher grabs data
which CODE-wise should never trigger
@ArtOfCode the only other thing I can think of is to do this...
... AFTER test_post, edit the post title if it's empty

@ThomasWard Feel free to take a break if you're too stressed. It's not a critical bug; it's okay if it takes a week before it gets fixed

10:45 PM
@NobodyNada the rest of the ignorant [very long line of expletives] in my vicinity in this classroom are the core evil today

@ThomasWard hey, snap, I know that feeling :)

and i am getting closer and closer to leaving halfway through class today, or else there will be chaos and destruction

grumble grumble incompetent programmers grumble

@ThomasWard yeah, but working on a really frustrating bug...doesn't help.

@ThomasWard where's this code?

10:47 PM
@ArtOfCode spamhandling.py, 119
that's what fixed answer notification systems.
unless sanitizing broke things too
at this point in spam handling though, we have already done the processing of reasons
and those're stored
but MS needs the data before the chat msgs get fired off
i did notice a bug heh

@ThomasWard just simplified this a bit

wait why is this not uploaded

CI on 843980c succeeded.

@ArtOfCode I can simplify it even further
a little

sure

it adds a little bit of code, but we need to start using properties more :P
