@microbuster NAA is short for Not An Answer. Nothing to do with no.

11:36 AM
lemme see if I can find the forwarding code

oh k just close that topic
sorry

In any case, welcome

@JanDvorak It isn't, but we don't have metasmoke sending NAA information to Smokey so it doesn't know the post was marked as an NAA.

It does report that.

oh, gotcha

11:39 AM
@hichris123 It does though. If I feedback NAA via the US and am first feedbacker on that, it will say "naa- by Magisch"

[ SmokeDetector | MS ] Link at end of body, link following arrow in body, pattern-matching website in body: Megadrol Instead of lifting heavier by BrianMcClain on gaming.stackexchange.com (@angussidney)

NAA isn't forwarded to the tavern
but

tpu- by Magisch

forwarding is done Smokey-side, and NAA flags via the userscript are done metasmoke-side
Smokey has no way of knowing that an NAA flag has been cast; it doesn't have the feedback in memory because it went straight to metasmoke
so it forwards

But Smokey does report the NAA reports to metasmoke

11:40 AM
yes, but metasmoke doesn't report NAA's to Smokey

@ArtOfCode Are you sure?

I mean, it shows them here, so it should know about them

lol at causing so much trouble :)

@Magisch yes

11:41 AM
@ArtOfCode How does it do the "naa- by Magisch" self-reply then?

@Magisch metasmoke sends that literal string to Smokey via the MS-Smokey websocket, which Smokey just blindly posts into here
it'll post literally anything that comes down that websocket with a message: tag

Oh

fail, imo

@ArtOfCode well it depends on the forwarder what to do

nefariously runs hands
@microbuster Smokey is a bot
ArtofCode is one of smokey's developers

11:43 AM
hmm
ok

I mean... not what I had imagined what would happen, but thanks for the explanation

i was not knowing that

@JanDvorak in theory yeah, it's not a good solution, but in practice - we had a websocket that Smokey was using to send messages to here from metasmoke, and Smokey didn't have any feedback-reporting capabilities apart from that

@microbuster SmokeDetector is a bot that runs in this room and parses through all new questions and answers on the network, in order to find spam for us to flag

Instead of developing a whole new feature in a codebase I'm not actually that familiar with, I just threw it down the socket instead

11:44 AM
Understood

@Magisch hmm

I guess it could try to parse the message it forwards...

@microbuster We're also mostly developers here, so there is lots of programming and algorhitm talk going on

@JanDvorak not worth it
only some messages are feedback reports; the conflict messages also come through there
the number of cases we'd have to add to parse the feedback out is large
It would be easier to send a different format message down the socket instead, but I don't know enough about Smokey's code to be able to add the feedback to its memory

11:47 AM
@ArtOfCode How about just doing a status:naa;report:[report id] instead of message:whatever

yeah, that's essentially what I'm thinking

And then handle that one case outside of the message handling. Shouldn't be too hard

I can get the data to smokey easy enough, I just don't know what to do with the data when it's there

Someone who knows more about smokey itself could do that
Essentially right now it checks if there's a message tag in the messages coming through that websocket, and if there is one, just prints it, right?

aye

11:49 AM
Additionally check if there is a different tag, one you handle, and then kick off whatever causes the forwarder not to forward
Presumably its an if conditional and if its not triggered the message is ignored. Do the same for your status tag

Yeah, I can do most of that, but but I don't know what causes the forwarder not to forward.

` if "message" in message:
GlobalVars.charcoal_hq.send_message(message['message'])` in SmokeDetector/metasmoke.py

@hichris123, you don't happen to, do you?

So just add another elif to that
Uhh
Let me see that

CI on 947a4f1 succeeded.

11:59 AM
@ArtOfCode I found something in spamhandling.py

That tavern-blocking code is hichris', IIRC

Since SD already listens to the MS websocket for messages, adding casing for that is easy
Do you know where it is?

1:12 PM
@Magisch Yep.
@Magisch Know where the MS websocket code is, or where the blocking code is?

I had it tracked down to the datahandling.py and a function that a fp- or naa- report triggers
add_ignored_post or something like that
I know where its posting the chat message (handle_spam) in spamhandling.py, I know where it processes feedback (chatcommands.py), I know where the websocket is (metasmoke.py), now, what exactly blocks the tavern messages?

@hichris123 so presume a call to add_ignored_post(postid_site_tuple) executed via a command over the MS websocket will do it
So what actually causes a submit to the tavern then? The initial handle_spam call has a conditional for tavern, mentioning a block time. Does it just call handle_spam again?

@Magisch yup.
@Magisch github.com/Charcoal-SE/SmokeDetector/blob/master/… -- handlespam calls the function in deletionwatcher.

cc @ArtOfCode We dug up the code that is responsible for blocking tavern posts. Its in deletionwatcher.py. A conditional call to add_ignored_post will do your trick
