I just didn't see why this is something room owners couldn't handle if the room in question is worried, ie just warn someone and then kick them the same as if they post any other random crap continually that gets annonying.
Wonder if Smokey shouldn't silently ignore users? There was someone in here the other day (a respected 100k user) giving feedback until I pointed out it was getting ignored. Maybe a ping back to say not privileged / ignored would be better?

Even I'm not sure if that's spam @Yvette. I've seen many users giving their own links. But this might be another case as the user posted the links in two answers
I don't want to come across as stifling, but the purpose of this room is to deal with spam on the network. With that, we support Smoke Detector, Metasmoke and a few other quality projects. Can we keep the idle chatter to a minimum?
@TIPS I don't understand why you would post another annoying GIF when I post a pinned message requesting to keep the noise down. It shows a lack of consideration for what the ROs want
Basically, the room wants it's original intention of being a quiet place, to provide feedback for SD and for the SD developers to be able to discuss SD

Sort of related but I'm finding this script soup wrote to be really handy. Beeps on Smokey reports so I know if new messages are new reports versus feedback / chat that I'll read later: github.com/normalhuman/Userscripts/blob/master/…
There also might be a need for a script that highlights messages beginning with "SD/sd/Sd" or ones that are reply to Smokey so we don't lose feedback other users give.
@Yvette It beeps on a Smokey report, so instead of seeing say (3) in the browser window and wondering if I should check for new spam it beeps and I know it's spam report. So it's the reason a bit of chatter doesn't worry me personally, also saves me checking back when it's just feedback not a new report.
Ooookay. Let me be really clear here: I'm not going to let this feedback-piling-on thing cause drama and tear the room apart. People come first; feedback is somewhere near the bottom of the list of priorities.

oh@Undo yes it's coming from that web app with the push notifications, I think it's in the php, so will address it as we rewrite the web app in asp.net mvc and see if there's a problem with how the data is being sent to urbanairship??

The only reason it can fail is that ChatExchange isn't logged in at the moment it tries to get the user id, because them SE returns the token "meta.stackexchange.com" (in case of chat.meta.stackexchange.com) where ChatExchange looks for the token
So either we are querying the user id before the connection is done, or ChatEchange doesn't check properly if the connection is done
