The entire purpose of the post is to advertise goods or services; the fact that they are provided by a person rather than a company doesn't change much. (A company can be a single person, anyway.)

@Undo with the issue of piling up feedback, I brought this up a while ago and the response was the person wanted to keep there invalidated ratio down.
Can I suggest you have less people with smokey detector privleges? @Undo enough to cover the 24 hour time period.

@Yvette I guess that'd mean pile-on undone work.
I like it

What is smokey's messages get crossed out if it recieved feedback, sometimes its hard to see if someone has given a post feedback

@TIPS well there'd be limits on pile on, particularly if users who don't pile on are chosen

@Ferrybig True this

@Ferrybig I think they need to lock down the privileged users whomever linked this into chat is correct blog.codinghorror.com/a-group-is-its-own-worst-enemy
It's a volunteer job and not a social network
As I mentioned I brought this up weeks ago and wasn't perceived to be a problem then. But I could see the writing on the wall.
It depends on if people are focused on their personal stats or just responding to each report so that every report has feedback.

7:55 AM
The problem is that we don't have stats on how much it happens, because we don't save the room id when feedback is added, this makes it hard to see if something needs to be done for it

I've noticed two newer users in the past couple of months come here and the first one was a problem and the second one was rude to me. I am thinking the min rep on one site needs to be raised, along with the min time on SE @ArtOfCode

@Yvette that reminds me of the language used in the mod nomination email:
> Please do not feel obligated. One of the top criteria for our moderators is that they want the responsibility. Moderators volunteer a lot of time and work. It can be a hugely rewarding experience, but it isn't always a popularity contest.
The same thing applies to power users, really

Sometimes, if I see that there is someone else in the room giving feedback, I wait until there are at least 2 posts without feedback so I can be assured I won't contribute to a potential FGITW problem

@Ferrybig yeh, I will wait sometimes if someone else is in the room and when they seem to not respond I will take over
though I can sit here for long periods alone, it's nice

@Yvette I get where you're coming from, but I don't think that's the solution. More people means we have flexibility, can cover when people go away, etc. We just need to find a way to decrease the piling on, which we can do socially or technically or both. We did come up with a few solutions earlier.
