@Srivatsan Damn, and I was about to suggest that you ping Jin or something... :)

@JM - who is Jin? Should I have waited?

@Kannappan: I edited your answer just for markup. For the \hskip to work you need a line break before the TeX. Also, \left(\right) does wonders for readability. (I'm too lazy to actually look at the content of your answer. :P)

@Srivatsan Nah, I think the meta post is fine. Jin is the resident SE designer.

@anon Thank you for the edit! I would love if you read my answer!

Professional bacon eater? That's what I aspired to be as a kid!

11:03 PM
You too, eh? What I wouldn't give for a good helping of bacon...

There's always time for dreams.

Like breakfast.
And the REM periods before breakfast too, technically.

@ymar Thanks for your comments man! But, did you read my reply?

The solar mass (\begin{smallmatrix}M_\odot\end{smallmatrix}) is a standard unit of mass in astronomy, used to indicate the masses of other stars, as well as clusters, nebulae and galaxies. It is equal to the mass of the Sun, about two nonillion kilograms: :M_{\odot}=( 1.98892\ \pm\ 0.00025 )\ \times10^{30}\hbox{ kg} This is about 332,950 times the mass of the Earth or 1,048 times the mass of Jupiter. Because the Earth follows an elliptical orbit around the Sun, the solar mass can be computed from the equation for the orbital period of a small body orbiting a central mass. Based upon th...
The first person to estimate the mass of the Sun was Isaac Newton.

So, should we care? @Skullpatrol
=)
:)
A reason to celebrate towards the end of UTC day: A silver badge to my profile!

11:17 PM
@JM can you change this to this with Texture[]?

@robjohn Oh, yes. Just Import[] in Mathematica: Import["http://i.stack.imgur.com/fQXHM.jpg"], and then you can now use it with Texture[] within PlotStyle. But some adjustment of the option TextureCoordinateFunction might be necessary.

@JM Ack! I wrote a whole bunch of code to do that!

builds character

@robjohn I've done that plenty of times: writing a bunch of code before finding out that there's built-in functionality... :D
and as anon says, it builds character. Occasionally you outdo the system function...

@KannappanSampath Congrats on that Kannappan.

11:23 PM
@JM Ah, but Texture[] is new in 8... I wrote the code before that.

@Srivatsan Thank You @Srivatsan

@robjohn Oh, then your code was definitely needed at the time. :)

@James Your gravatar reminds me Windows XP!

11:39 PM
Hi @ymar

@KannappanSampath Hey, man. I've read your reply but I'm not sure I understand

Shall we discuss it here or ?

We can, sure.
Problem is, I'm not sure why you need that lemma. The point is to prove that K is cyclic, right?

No, the whole point is to prove $G$ is cyclic.

Oh, my. OK.
Gosh I misread the theorem like five times.

11:42 PM
No, that's not a problem!

Oh man... I just could get why so much trouble with such a simple question!
*couldn't

Brian, myself and a third person all posted an answer to that question in a matter of minutes.
It took me like an hour to write that answer. Impressive.

@ymar Oh, you mean the proposition is trivial?

@KannappanSampath Yes, but not the one you actually wrote. The one I thought you'd written! :)

11:46 PM
@ymar Oh!

You'll agree that proving that $K$ is cyclic is not difficult at all. :)

@ymar Yes. It's just a matter of invoking Lagrange's Theorem!

@KannappanSampath Exactly! And I was about to scratch my head off. Good thing I came here and asked.

I see. Now, if that is clear, I'm glad!
@ymar

@KannappanSampath It is!

11:52 PM
hi Kannappan, ymar

Right. After a long work on that answer, I think I should go to sleep.
In less than six hours I have to wake up and go hear a lecture about Extender based Radin forcing.

@ymar did you know you can edit typos in your messages within a short period after posting them? :) Just hit the up arrow key the next time to edit.

@Srivatsan Hi

@AsafKaragila Off with you, then. Get rested. :)

@JM I didn't, thanks!

11:55 PM
@JM Obviously. :-)
Goodnight!

Hi, Srivatsan

@JM: In Aarthi's comment, what does accent colours mean? Can you read her?

Definition: Accent colors are colors that are used for emphasis in a color scheme. These colors can be bold or vivid and are used sparingly, to emphasize, contrast or create rhythm.

(Stamp. I shouldn't have upvoted the comment hastily. :/)

lol, that was you? irony.

11:59 PM
Well, I do appreciate the person writing the comment. I don't really understand the comment, so I can't tell if I agree or disagree with it.
