I still think different people use it differently, so just keep an eye for what the author has in mind. When you yourself are using that terminology, either make sure it is unambiguous, or disambiguate it explicitly.

Rather, the word "concise" is a very general adjective here that roughly means "expressing a lot of information in very few symbols," or "saying a lot with very little." People like notation that's concise because it's easy and looks nice. If I ever came across an 8-year old, anyway.
