@TimStone why do people care that someone re-wears an article of clothing? clothing is meant to be worn, and if you wear it more than once, you are doing what you are supposed to do

although to be fair to mr smugularity, he wore his clothes more than once. he just threw them away when they got dirty because he was too "off the grid" to have a washing machine
Someone passive-aggressively changed the name of the room to tell @badp to stop changing room names instead of just saying that a particular policy should be used so we're trying to figure out what the policy should be instead of it just being #editwaryolo
Basically, someone has been creating Overwatch-specific rooms and I (though I haven't in the past two weeks or so) have been changing them back to generic names because I really don't see a use case for game-specific rooms.
@badp @Yuuki two generic rooms, make rooms for specific games when we feel it makes sense. aka right now make an overwatch room, maybe two, since we're all playing that and sometimes take up two rooms.
We can just spin up and delete game specific rooms when we think it makes sense. Like since everyone and their mom is playing overwatch right now, I think overwatch specific rooms makes sense. Once it's died down and we're mostly playing other things we can delete'em.
Okay, then here's a policy for it: Leave a small handful of generic rooms. Create rooms as needed for specific games. If it's a one time event, delete the room after it's done. In the case of things like the Overwatch rooms, where they're being used every day, leave at least one in existence
tbh I don't feel strongly either way, I just feel that having the name of the game we're playing in the room name makes it easier for folks to find the right room.
As far as Discord use goes right now, we've always been in one room. There may occasionally be overflow, but that's easily resolved with a "oh, our team's full, you can try the other channel".
@Yuuki Not always. There's been quite a few times during OVerwatch we've spilled over into two rooms, especially when we've got RL friends and family joining us.

@badp But is it worth being annoyed about? I get why you're really frustrated, because folks are calling you out, but I don't think renaming rooms on the fly is anything to be annoyed about.
I do agree that the problem itself is overall very minor, but, let's put it this way, the people who have mod on Arqade are generally amongst our most trusted members
and, yknow, maybe we need to realise that if you are trusted to manage some sort of shared resource, like a review queue, or a question, or a discord voice channel
this is why I'm making a big deal out of it. because today this is about a trivial thing, but tomorrow some of you might even be given "the keys to the kingdom"
Stack Exchange's got a LOT of accountability built into the system, but we can't go check everybody else's logs, especially between mods we need to be able to trust each other
Okay, so I think the result of this is that whoever's getting pissy about room name changes, cut it out. Room names can be easily changed. If you need a particular room named a particular thing, do it. Don't rename a room someone else is using. Don't use room names to complain. If a game-specific room hasn't been used in a couple days, delete it.
