@MBraedley You'll actually still be able to dial 7 digits until November. Right now dialing 7-digits will just give you a warning that you need to dial 10.
@Frank Bad? Dude, that was brilliant.
I'm so proud of you.

@Wipqozn @Flu is 28/Pony, I don't think that image is appropriate
Better:

@fredley It's appropriate given @Sterno is, like, a million years old.

@Wipqozn Relative age difference doesn't come into it

10:44 AM
cc @Arperum @I'mNotSureWhoElse
@fredley It does now, just for the sake of my joke

@Wipqozn Your jokes are bad, and you should feel bad

@fredley You're just jealous.
I personally think the expansions is a little underwhelming.

I think your face is underwhelming.

You do realize you're just setting up for a "Your mum was underwhelming last night!" joke there, right?
Just thought I'd point that out before we get there.

No one can stop "your mom" jokes. They are infinite.

10:51 AM
@Sterno Your mom can though, since she is also infinite.

@Arperum @Sterno's mom doesn't want to stop them though

@fredley That's what she said.

@Sterno Your mom is infinite!
OH BUUURRRRNNN

@Wipqozn so slow

10:52 AM
@Sterno Sorry :(

Just like a turtle.

Here, have room ownership so it can be taken away as punishment later.

Also, one of our five featured articles today for the news site I work for is about a Moose Sex Project.

That starred scifi question... ugh.

10:53 AM
@Wipqozn stop bringing up my mistakes and let me be bitter

@MBraedley No. I refuse.

@Wipqozn I assume the other articles are also about Moose?

@Arperum Obviously, jeez. I am Canadian. All of our top stories are about Moose.
Well, moose and hockey.

0118999881999119725... 3

@Sterno I keep meaning to watch that show.

10:56 AM
@Wipqozn The Moose Sex Project wouldn't happen to involve hockey sticks, would it?
God, I hate where my mind is going ...

@Wipqozn I'm mixed on it. It has a few good bits but quite a few boring ones too.

You know you're not awake when you've forgotten you took your watch off to take a shower.

@MBraedley You know you're @OrigamiRobot if you can't remember if you washed your hair.

@MBraedley You should probably just go back to bed.
@Sterno It's funny because that's what happens to him.

@FEichinger I hate you for making my mind make the same fucked up drive through hell.

10:58 AM
@Wipqozn I wish I could. Need to get a lot of work done today.

@Arperum ♥

@FEichinger Nah, it's just about protecting some land to make it easier for Moose to do whatever it is Moose do, including moosing other moose to make baby moose.

@Sterno ... Dammit.

Q: When should i buy Sword of the Occult or Mejai's Soulstealer?

Philipp SanderBoth items are great when they have some stacks, but when you buy them they have 0 stacks and are not really gold efficient. Sword of the Occult is 30% gold efficient with no stacks. Its gold efficiency increases by 15% per stack, becoming gold efficient at five stacks and reaching 404.3% gold ...

@Sterno You know, as I was in the process of clicking it I thought "oh fuck, it's probably a rebecca black video", but it was too late. I already started the clicking motion. There was no going back.

@Sterno tell guess badly

@Wipqozn It was worth waiting 6 months for

@fredley A bad guess is still better than tossing a coin.

Yes, really. If I can badly ("only" 51% of the time) guess if a specific share will raise or fall, I'll make a profit.

@MartinSojka While that's statistically how it goes, it's not quite how the economy works.
Bad example, I'd say.

SamSI have loved my DS and taken good care of it for 5 years. Nintendo consoles are build to last, that's for sure. Oh hey, it's @GraceNote. I haven't seen you here in a while. Is that because you not so secretly hate us?

You can take @GraceNote's lack of response as "Yes, I hate you, @Wipqozn."
Probably because you never finished EOU

@Sterno Yes I did!

Including the bonus stuff?

11:48 AM
I just never finished the post-game content... I'm on floor 30.

See? You are a complete failure.

Man, @GraceNote, I'm so sorry I let you down.

Hm?

You might be further than me in EO3 now. I think I only got to strata 3 in that one
stratum 3?
strat* 3

I haven't been around because I've been nose deep in text files for over a month.

11:50 AM
@Sterno that's where I am in EO3 as well. I haven't played that too much in the past week. I'm on the second floor of Strata 3.
@GraceNote Sounds either exciting or boring, depending on the subject of the text files and why you were reading them.

Probably all about the Moose Sex Project.

Reading? Haaaaah

@Sterno It's an important project to Canada.
@GraceNote Oh, do you mean you were literally turned into data and hung out with the fileS?
that's pretty cool.

Every byte that I write out is part of my very soul.

That's deep.
I guess you could say it's..........NOSE Deep!
HAHAHA cc @Frank

11:54 AM
That's not even a pun!

Alright, to make up for Wipqozn... being Wipqozn, I'll just leave this here then. Don't even worry about anything like "understanding the lyrics".

@OrigamiRobot No, but see, she said she was nose deep in stuff.

(Other than, I guess, that "Yadon" is "Slowpoke")

@GraceNote I'm such a lovable scamp.

11:57 AM
@Wipqozn Right, you just made up a figure of speech to reference her not-quite-as-made-up figure as speech.
I expect better from you.
I will never be less disappointed in you.

@OrigamiRobot Well that's just silly.
@GraceNote That song gives me a bit of Beetlejuice vibe.

...I don't even know how to respond to that.

@GraceNote He is referencing the song at the very end.

@OrigamiRobot See? @OrigamiRobot gets me.

Too bad you became an eternal disappointment to him.

12:00 PM
Eternal, unkownable, eldritch disappointment.

Winona Ryder's hair is ridiculous in that movie.

@GraceNote eh, not a bad thing. I never need to worry about disappointing him less than I already have. It's a good thing, really.

Anyway! Writings must resume!

I just assumed everyone would be too lazy to check.

Q: Which is the PC RPG game most similar to tabletop RPG with very high developing characters and story possibilities?

RobertoWell, first of all I haven't played RPG games for several years, so maybe now games like the ones I want are common, but it's good to ask. I mean, although PC RPG games where nice to play I always had the feeling that I never was able to develop my characters and the story as I would really want...

Yep. @Wipqozn's the worst.

You guys are all just jealous.

Of a turtle? You wish.

Oh! so my first night the weekly Netrunner night was pretty radtastic.
It;s a weekly Fantasy flight Games night, but netrunner is the most popular game played.
A lot of great guys and gals there. Got to try out my new (and first) deck. I won two games, and came really close to winning a third with it actually. Was a good first night.
I can't wait until next week. I'll probably go earlier than the start time next week, because people actually start getting there up until an hour before.

@Lazers ... Close vote? Really?

12:25 PM
@FEichinger I don't see anything wrong with some casting a close vote on something which is going to be deleted.
not everyone is completely familiar with how the site works, and some users might think it's quicker to get it closed than it is to get it deleted (likely due to not knowing how spam flags work).

@Wipqozn I am confused as to what it is trying to achieve.

@Lazers Why are you trying to be a regular user? Did I miss something?

@MBraedley I'm editing out the onebox from the transcript, because phone numbers and crappy "wow gold codes".

@MBraedley You missed mod abuse.

@FEichinger I'm not sure, but it doesn't really hurt anything for someone to have casted a close vote.

12:27 PM
@FEichinger It still exists in the history of the post. Better to just remove it.

@Wipqozn I'm not saying it shouldn't have been cast.
@MBraedley The history is not indexed, as far as I know. Which is really my primary concern - no need to let Google see it.
Not to mention that people may want to see the post that got deleted. Imagine the mod abuse screams if I had indeed outright deleted it.

@FEichinger It's @Lazers, I don't think many would care too much about his posts being deleted, when appropriate.

@MBraedley I don't think it's a big deal either way.
I've already seen the post, so it doesn't matter if no on else sees it, since I believe in a Wipqozn-centric universe.
All of your lives revolve around me, right?

12:50 PM
@Wipqozn Really?

@OrigamiRobot Yeah. Netrunner is the most popular FFG game in Halifax. I know X-WING is supposed to be popular too, but I didn't notice if anyone was there playing it last night. I was rather focused on netrunning though. There was a table of Game of Thrones the Card Game players though.
There were 14 people there for netrunner last night, with Game of Thrones LCG having 6 I think.
My zeus I hate clickbait titles. also people who click them. That cat opening doors video just showed up in my feed, from some clikcbait website with the header "He left his cat in front of the closed door. He never expected to catch this on camera!" Then why was he recording it?

@Wipqozn No, X-Wing is garbage.

Oh, I know, because he was expecting it and this is just stupid clickbait.

I'm just surprised because there is zero chance I would pick Netrunner over something like BSG.

@OrigamiRobot A coworker of mine is really into it, but doesn't really grab me. I looked into it a bit and it caught my interest, but that only lasted for about an hour.
I like the idea of it, but it looks like it might be alittle too lacking in tactics for atactical wargame for me.
No obstacles either.

12:59 PM
@Wipqozn I believe that game is fundamentally flawed in the same way, but worse, than things like Warhammer is.

@OrigamiRobot BSG meaning Battlestar Galactica?

@OrigamiRobot I liked warhammer, but it's way too damn expensive.
@OrigamiRobot The night is mostly meant for the LCG and X-WING.

37 mins ago, by Wipqozn
It;s a weekly Fantasy flight Games night, but netrunner is the most popular game played.
MISLEADING

In fact I think that's exactly what it's meant for, now that I tihnk about it.
LET ME CHECK

1:00 PM
Anyway, I mean the unit movement in X-Wing is horrible.

@OrigamiRobot It looks super tedious.
Warhammer could be tedious too, but X-WING looks 100 times worse.

There is soooo much room for human error and nudging to get the edge and ugh

Although Warhammer mostly suffers from too many troops where as X-WING has a whole bunch of tools you need to move anything.

The part that makes it worse than warhammer is when your ships are going to collide, you have to back the piece up over the cardboard path

Nope, I was right the first time. It's for all FFG games, but people mostly just use it for their LCG and X-WING.
@OrigamiRobot Oh right, because you do movement at the same time.

1:03 PM
Like, it would work great as an electronic version, but ugh

They have a a tournament coming up this Sunday for Netrunne r, and the sunday after too. They seem to have a few a month.

And if someone bumps the table, well, hope you had fun meticulously setting things up

I might start goin to those too.
@OrigamiRobot Yeah, that's never fun.

I just can't get into other TCG/LCG games. Part of it is that I'm already invested (time, knowledge, and financial-wise) in MtG. The other part is I just don't find any particularly fun.

@OrigamiRobot Yeah, that's understandable.

1:07 PM
Netrunner could be very fun, but the starter set just didn't give me that feeling.

I only started looking around at other card games when I had the desire to get into one again, but didn't really feel like getting back into Magic. It's been years since I played, so I didn't feel any investment in it anymore.

How to win: Play the virus deck.

@OrigamiRobot I've seen some people claim the starter set isn't a good representation of the game, but honestly I thought it gave a pretty solid idea.
So if you didn't like the starter set I don't think you'd like the game.

@Wipqozn It did seem solid until we found the virus deck.

@OrigamiRobot Thought it was too powerful?

1:10 PM
Vastly.
I realize there are a lot of outside variables here, but I don't really have good justification to look into it more.

Yeah, anarchs are far from OP (and are considered the weakest runner faction right now, due to a weak economy), but no reason to pick up another game to eat up your money.

I also don't like the deck restrictions.
X number of card out of faction allowed
That's why I could never get into SolForge

I personally like that, but I can certainly understand why it wouldn't appeal to everyone.
Especially if you come from a lot of magic where no such restrictions exist.

The restrictions in Magic come from resource management, which plays into how to build a deck
Netrunner just tells you "You can't do it"
It just seems like the most uncreative way to solve the "How do we stop people from playing all the best cards in one deck?" problem

Hmm? Didn't MtG have a restriction of "not more than 4 of the same card, aside basic lands, in the deck" or something like that?

1:17 PM
Yea, and I say all this, but my favorite format is one where you can only have a single copy of each non-basic land card.

I think the "resource management" is one of the worst parts of Magic. Having a random percentage of your games be stupid because you got no mana or lots of mana is dumb. Yes, I know you are going to say that you have to build your deck to help cope with those situations. It's still dumb.

It's not the too much vs not enough part that I think is good, that obviously sucks.

I would rather focus on the strategy of the deck than having to waste slots in my deck coping with the random shuffle fucking me over.
Oh, the idea that you have limited resources to spend each turn is great, if that's what you mean.

Random shuffling is going to fuck you over in some fashion in any card game like this

If you always got an ideal mana draw, then Magic's mana system is really good.
But I like the idea of games that guarantee an "ideal mana draw" by just having some static resource situation for both players.

1:20 PM
In VS, every card could be used as a "mana" source.
That game had a really cool resource system.

You could modify Magic for that by allowing everyone to set up two basic lands of their choice on the board before the play begins, though that might need some rebalancing.

@OrigamiRobot I really like systems like this.
I played a casual variant of Magic where decks had no lands, but you could play any card face down as a land that produced any color mana.
It was obviously completely imbalanced, but it definitely solved the mana screw/flood problem.

The decks would then need fewer lands and mana-giving cards then.

@StrixVaria You had your resource row and non-creature cards could still be played from that row and count as mana, but you couldn't cast creatures fromt hat row

@StrixVaria You might like the Game of Thrones Card Game then. From what I understand, the amount of gold you get to spend per turn (the resource) is determined by you via "Plot Cards." Basically you have a deck of 7 plot cards, and at the start of every turn you choose a card from the plot deck and use it to start your turn. The plot card determines various things about your turn, including the amount of gold you get to spend that turn.

1:23 PM
But the deck I played had a bunch of creatures that got more powerful if you revealed creatures from your resource row. It was neat.

It's more like having a second and special hand than another deck, since you always get to choose waht you want from it. There's no drawing or randomization aspect. once the deck runs out, you just put all the cards back in the deck.

Hospital fun level: 0

@fredley I spent close to a week in hospitals over the past month. Sucked.

Especially with someone screaming in the next cubical over
@StrixVaria that sucks.

@StrixVaria Oh right, and you live in the USA so that probably cost you a few thousand dollars.

1:25 PM
I've just come to accept that not drawing the right cards will always feel bad whether it's land or not.

@Wipqozn I have good insurance.

@StrixVaria Oh right, you work for Google.

I have national insurance, yay socialism

@Wipqozn The bill if I didn't have insurance was over $35,000

@StrixVaria I have a Legacy deck with zero lands that can win on turn 1. :D

1:26 PM
The health care system in this country is completely fucked.
6

@StrixVaria Holy fuck.
@StrixVaria It really is.

@StrixVaria How does anyone get better?

I knew it was bad, but I didn't know it was that bad.
@fredley Be rich!
only rich people deserve to be healthy. Didn't you know that?

@fredley Don't get sick

@Wipqozn Darwin approves

1:27 PM
@fredley They're not allow to decline care, so you either go to collections and make payments for the rest of your life or declare bankruptcy or something if you can't afford it.
Plus if you don't have insurance the price is lower.

@StrixVaria sensible

Because insurance companies collude with health providers to maximize profits for everyone.

@StrixVaria The important thing is healthcare is run as a business in the USA.
Because: money.
So long as the corporations are happy, so are the politicians they're paying off! yay!

@StrixVaria is it the same for pregnancy? Cos otherwise how is babby made?

@fredley that's why strix was in the hospital for a week.

1:29 PM
@Wipqozn IAMA ware

Maybe it's to encourage poor people from having babies, so they don't spread their poor genes.
Poor people are basically genetically inferior to rich people, right?

If you don't have the "Pull yourself up by your bootstraps" gene, what good are you?

@Wipqozn Darwin still approves

@fredley That crazy Darwin. He's such a character.

@Wipqozn Classic Charles

1:42 PM
@StrixVaria I think it's actually higher.
Every single hospital has a chargemaster, who's only job is to attach totally arbitrary numbers to everything.

@Frank You wind up paying more out of pocket due to not having insurance, but usually the hospital will cut you a break on the price because their prices are outrageous and they know it.

@StrixVaria For those that understand those prices aren't set in stone.
Insurance companies are just wise to their game and go, "Heh, no. Be serious, if you want us to pay you at all."

Every time I hear about the hospital costs of places like the USA, I'm happy to not having to care about that.

@Frank I feel like @StrixVaria would have a better idea of how the hospitals in his country work than us, given we don't live there.

@Wipqozn Probably. I've read a crapton on their shady dealings, so that's what I'm basing it on.

1:45 PM
@Frank That's not how it works, though. The insurance companies talk to the hospitals beforehand and agree on a price that is different from the price that the patient sees. So even though the bill I got said $35k, my insurance company is not going to have to pay that full amount.
They don't wheel and deal every time someone makes a claim.

@StrixVaria So what's the purpose in even sending you a bill?

@Frank To scare you? I don't know.

Q: Does my friend have to download all the mods or just me?

MateCraftI want to play modded survival with my friends and I have the mods, do they have to download all of those or do I just have to have them?

That peace of mind is not cheap, mind you. About 300€/month in my case.

To show you how much "value" you're getting from the insurance.

1:46 PM
I think that the insurance company still writes it off as if they had spent $35k on me even though they didn't actually need to put out that much money.
I'm sure there are tax reasons.

Best quote I've seen so far today:
> That's only ironic in the Alanis Morissette sense.

@Frank "Looks how much money we saved you! Never cancel with us. Also, this is why public health care would be bad, becaus then all this would be coming from your taxes!"

@Wipqozn Except not really, because we charge ten to twenty times the actual cost of the item.

Plus, that $35k is just hospital costs. Every physician who came in to see my wife or the baby during that time will be sending a separate bill.
Yay capitalism.

@Frank Yes, that's probably why they put it so high too.

1:48 PM
@StrixVaria Well, yay insurance, anyways.

@StrixVaria That's completely fucked.

It'd be interesting to see if you could extract the actual amount your insurance paid, versus what you got.

Every time we have a conversation about American Bridge folks hospital experiences my opinion of your health care system becomes eve worse, and it's already really bad.

I am sure that number is a closely guarded secret.

HI CHAT.

1:50 PM
@Wipqozn The solution is to not go to the doctor. That's what I do.

And I wonder who's doing most of the screaming about Obamacare.

@OrigamiRobot That does help ensure those non-rich genes don't get spread around!

@Wipqozn but you're still going to be paying those taxes anyway!

@badp but the they might not be able to put as much into the military!

@Wipqozn Given the demographics of the people who oppose free access to abortions, I don't think that argument makes sense ... But then, a lot of "those people" make no sense to me.

1:53 PM
Time to derail this conversation.

I've been to the doctor maybe 2-3 times in the past 10 years.

With a slowpoke train!

@MartinSojka Abortion has came up in the bridge once before, and it didn't go over well, so we should probably not discuss it.
@Frank It's s beautiful.

In other news, there's a lot of space games coming down the pipe in the next little while.

So, how about that Shadowgate death counter (that I can't see from work)?

1:56 PM
The Gamestick Android Console impressively shows that $20 can be too much for a console + controller

@Frank FWIW, Healthcare providers and insurance companies are both pretty pro Obamacare on the whole. It's a huge windfall for them.
