10:00 PM
no, it's not like asking "...better than". I'm asking about updates ("more advanced"). See the difference? 13.04 is getting updates earlier.

"ubuntu gnome" is the official name of "ubuntu gnome remix" now

Did I miss something here?

/me knows a few of the devs on there because of his bugcontrol connections
between "gnome remix" and "gnome" names for the releases, the changes are generally overall better. there's no real change in how "advanced" they are, they're still basically the same.
i nominate @Lucio to go through this and make it flow better and make it easier to understand:
0
A: the owner of files in 13.04

oneThere is no other user just Joe. This is inconsistent as the actual user name is shown when using the command ls -l I/we already new that the files in our home folder belonged to "Me" In the reply above it would have previously shown as cyrex as the Owner. What I actually did was run nautilus as...

because all I see there is a wall of text
and nobody'll read that, especially not newbies
@Bennypr0fane you should have said "more updated" rather than "more advanced"
in the Linux world, "advanced" generally means more technical-ish

@TheLordofTime Is that a response to my previous question or it has nothing to be with it?

not "more up to date"
@Lucio nothing to do with it

10:04 PM
Oh

you were just the last one who's done editing to talk
so i nominated you :p

:D
np

/me runs on a multi-threaded thought process which sometimes occludes such distinctions between existing comments and unrelated ones.

Yeah, i think i remember another comment that used to be ther that oil responded to.
Time travelers for you...

@TheLordofTime Deal with it.

10:11 PM
@Lucio actually, I quite like catching people offguard with the stream of multi-threaded thoughts.
it makes life interesting :P

@TheLordofTime mmmm.. Operative Systems..

Nooo, my tablet dosn't have a backtick to add code

@mateo_salta <pre></pre> tags

Crisis averted, there is also the <$> button.

Haha, watch this great edit! Awesome
added 2 characters in body
:P

10:22 PM
@TheLordofTime please god use 4 spaces instead of tabs

@CallmeV can I just use this:

@CallmeV Have you some annoying result with it?

<pre>
OMGWATBLAHFOOBAR
EHRIOWE$HRIOEW$HRP:$RW
THIS IS SAMPLE TEXT OH MY GOODNESS
</pre>
/me hates using tabs or spaces and prefers HTML code. :P

Sorry, but I couldn't resist..

@Lucio 'tis better than nothing

10:25 PM
@TheLordofTime Yeah, and now I will delete some repeated sentence there.
:P

:P
okay, enough fun for now.

Just waiting to delete it.
X software has a idiotic idea <-- Is this allowed here?

link?
@Lucio (generally it's "not constructive" or "offtopic" usually the first though)

@TheLordofTime Here
I downvoted it

@Lucio and I mass-revised it, downvoted it, and gave a pseudo-slap comment.

10:37 PM
So, not an answer?

Oli
Guys... Weigh up the utility of your actions. Two edits: one to format it, the other to censor it... But nobody thinks to port it to be an actual answer?
And the trifecta: some sarcasm!

googling trifecta
No results found for 'trifecta'..

10:54 PM
on the pre tag thing i was encouraged not to use it because it doesn't get indexed properly

@Suhaib How do you know this answer is for 11.10?
18
A: How can I change the icon of an application in the Unity launcher?

itnet7For Ubuntu 11.10 The first thing you would need to do is take a .png icon file that you would like to use and copy it to the respective ~/.local/share/icons/hicolor/ directory. This will contain the following directories (which are the dimensions of the icons) : 16x16/apps/ 32x32/apps/ 48x48/a...

Or rather, only for 11.10?

@Seth OP said 11.10.
aanswer same day too

Oh OK. Somehow I missed that when I read the question.

Oli
@Suhaib Don't all those files and locations exist in newer versions of Ubuntu?

Try to be a little more descriptive in your edit summaries though ;)

11:03 PM
@Oli, If you mean in the same path. then no.

@BrunoPereira Hey! Long time no see.

anyone have experience in changing the icon ?
I have 64 ,32 and 16
Which one should I use ?

16's a small one, 16x16 pixels is like the FAVICONS on sites
@Suhaib 16 is 16x16 (small)
32 is 32x32 (also small, but not as)
64 is 64x64 (meh)
where're you using the icon?
desktop screen? Launcher? favicon?
the icon for /dev/null?

@TheLordofTime, aha, I thought I have to put each size in its specific folder

yeah pretty much
but i've seen icons for apps that only have 32x32 size at most
so they have 16x16 and 32x32 (but not 64x64)

11:08 PM
ya, for example unity web apps like facebook, it uses 48 only. So that doesn't mean we have to put all the sizes right ?

no, i don't think so, but i usually don't have to create icons for my stuff, because most of my stuff's CLI only :p

ya same thing here. But there is this low resolution Icon that is bugging me alot lately :-s

11:30 PM
Why is the next question closed? How to read ext4 partitions in Windows?
I understand that the answer should be a procedure from Windows, but.. finding an excuse
well, look the votes.
IMO it is very in-topic. Anyway it has been answered and accepted and upvoted, everything..

@Lucio because it's a windows question, not directly related to Ubuntu.
it's asking general linux ext4 not Ubuntu

not directly

(which is why I VTC:OT'd it)

but Ubuntu use ext4

if you think it should be reopened cast a reopen vote
(or ask someone to. it won't be me though)

11:36 PM
I was just guessing.
I think that this has been previously asked but I don't find the correct dupe:

Q: How can I share files between xp and Ubuntu 12.04?

Raymond J StadlerI am new to Ubuntu.Trying to share files between os's dual boot xp ubuntu 12.04.Are there programs to load on each os to do this?

i need to stop being a sucker for rock music, and videos made on Source FilmMaker
/me found a music video on steam that fits those criterion

@TheLordofTime svg icons ftw

11:53 PM
