@seth which post are you referring to?

@CharlesGreen this has been happening for quite a while. Most of the posts are deleted now.

@Seth Answered my own question, but... this is the result of my not entirely understanding the review system for low-quality posts. Apparently if someone else has already replied with the canned comment, it is preferable to choose the 'no comment button' My mistake.

@CharlesGreen no problem :)

Eh - you guys prompt me on stuff I'm doing poorly, this hopefully makes me do stuff better :)

erg, have to add something to grub to enable more uarts for ttys5?
this is getting fun

12:57 AM
alright, who killed my internet?
@hbdgaf *cringes*

1:13 AM
ok... ttyS5 dosn't want to work...

What are you doing? @Mateo

installing a touchscreen that uses serial interface - but they had to choose com 3,4,5,6 on ttyS 3-5
1-4 are only turned on by default, it's a mess

lol

I think there is a grub parameter though

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

1:32 AM
I should get it, need grub entry, + xorg.config + driver + serial port settings
oh, and there are serial port settings in the bios as well...

HEY! Does anybody get tired of reading Linux Mint questions that are usually off-topic anyway?

@BorWal VTC, Comment, move on ;p

No, really! I say that, because I started a chat room on this site that's about... well, the off-topic Linux Mint. :-P

@hbdgaf 0_0
I guess it was already broken but that makes me cringe.
Also that's dangerous. Broken glass and stuff
And if its old enough CCFL tubes
and
I'M TURNING INTO ONE OF THOSE INTERNET KILLJOYS :(

It's for Ask Ubuntu moderators who get tired of seeing questions tagged "mint", and people who ask Linux Mint questions, simply because they know it has a Ubuntu lining.

You said anybody ._.

4:01 AM
Well, anyway, here's the link...
Feel free to check it out anytime! Non-moderators can discuss it, too, but I made this with the mods in mind. ;-D

@BorWal mods have tools for stuff like that ;p

@JourneymanGeek Yeah, like what?

@BorWal voting to close throws it into the review queue
Oh. You want a linux mint se site
Try area 51?
ahh
it dead.

@JourneymanGeek Well, yeah! What did you think I meant?!?

I thought you wanted them closed

4:05 AM
Oh, your link? Well, I reopened it.
Closed? No, no!
That's certainly not what I meant. Some of those Mint questions are actually useful for Ubuntu, but those directly related to Mint are not.

@SmokeDetector Uhh... that link doesn't exist. Just thought I'd point that out.

Q: Ubuntu is not listed on the GRUB

PerfectGundamI installed Fedora23 on a GPT partition(also chose LVM option). There is no option on the GRUB list when I boot normally(without interfering). However, if I hit f9 on bootup and go into boot options, I see Fedora(Toshiba MQ01...) Ubuntu(Toshiba MQ01..) Boot From EFI File I can boot from here...

kos
@ByteCommander That is public already, you can see if an user has recently focused the window clicking on their avatar

@kos No, not really.
That seems just to display when the JS or whatever on the site last connected to the server.
This also works if the tab is not focussed, I believe.

8:56 PM
@kos Italy? my timezone :)

user136984
And it's a fried egg because you fry it in a frying pan...

kos
@ParanoidPanda Maybe it's American English? I found evidences of it here: thefreedictionary.com/cooking+pan
@A.B. Yes, in fact when I see you online at 6 AM I know it's early there as well. :)

user136984
I don't know, try searching for frying pan instead and see what sort of a description it gives you... DDG only seems to know in its definition section what a frying pan is, and it's what I said... So maybe it's American English because I have it set on UK English as that is my native language...

user136984
@kos: Cooking pan is probably just the general name for pans... And a frying pan is a specific type of pan...

@Sneetsher you're welcome :)
@kos :)

kos
9:08 PM
@ParanoidPanda It may well be that I heard of frying pan, recalled it wrongly as cooking pan and that happens to be a very uncommon or more general form for frying pan. Obviously I won't argue against a native speaker, unless I want to make a fool out of myself :)

user136984
Well, there are different sorts of pans, frying pans, saucepan, etc... And you cook with them all so you could refer to them all as cooking pans I guess... Though mostly people just call them pans. :)

user136984
I searched on google for "cooking pan" and I got all the different sorts of pans, so I guess it's just a general term used to refer to all of them, though I wouldn't try to cook an egg in a saucepan! :P

Can't say I've ever heard of cooking pan either. NGrams also shows it as vanishingly rare: books.google.com/ngrams/…
I guess you might use it as a generic term but I'd just stick with frying pan unless you know you're talking about something else.

kos
@terdon Yeah, probably I just made that up vaguely recalling "frying pan".

@Kos: Oh, well that's strange...

@ParanoidPanda That's because lots of people wondered but never asked, or that they didn't know about this, so never wondered, so not only upvoted the answer, but also the question!
(I'm in the latter case)
