Anything new about butterproject.org ?

@GeoMint how does one install that?

i did installed it once

How come it hasn't been shut down?

it is not illegal

How is that possible?

10:06 PM
it has 3-4 movies that are open
no copyrights
popcorn time has been shutdown

So it's kind of like BitTorrent and how the app is legal because certain torrents are?
But you can use it to download illegal stuff

excactly
they can make a free and legal service
and then they can provide info how to use it illegal :P

They can't.

ahh

Others can.
But yeah, that's the gist.

10:09 PM
@James are you jrg?

i preffer YTS torrents. but they have been also shut down

@Zacharee1 Yeah

ok
hmm
I prefer streaming, but interesting

i am not sure if this is official yts but its ok
at least they update with new moview
streaming is not the same though

10:12 PM
what?

Streaming isn't the same?
What do you mean?

streaming vs download

oh, well yeah

@Rinzwind i installed 0ad 19
@Zacharee1 you can still use popcorn through vpn

It's expensive though

10:14 PM
vpn?

In Popcorn time? You have to get a subscription

emmm i think no
netflix has subscription

It's funny because it's more expensive than Netflix

Oh, I mean the built in VPN service it has. I wouldn't know what to connect to with OpenVPN

10:18 PM
i don't use VPN

I'm assuming that it's legal in your jurisdiction folks.

@James huh? USA?

in greece torrents are acceptable :D

They are here too, but not the illegal ones

in germany you can go to jail

10:19 PM
@Zacharee1 I'm assuming that what the MPAA calls piracy (AKA popcorn time, etc) is legal in your country. :-)

For a while (and maybe still) ISPs throttled torrents, which is illegal now to do
@James piracy isn't legal in the US...?

well, ISPs throttle regardless of content anyway to keep their costs low

@Zacharee1 That's why it's called piracy, lol.

@James 7€ vs piracy. That's not fair at all....

I'm assuming you're in a country that doesn't have copyright laws in the way the US does. (:

10:20 PM
@James Me? No.

there's a difference between the laws on the books and enforcements. Enforcement is weak in some countries even though technically they are abiding by similar laws as the US

@Zacharee1 Greek Goverment closed gamato.ning.com

@Chan-HoSuh Yeah, but PenTeleData and others brought speeds noticeably lower for torrents. 3MB/s for normal download vs. 100KB/s for well-seeded torrent

10:25 PM
sigh you're all missing the point. I'm going to go back to writing a bunch of docker containers.

@James please, what is the point?

sorry, I joined late, as I am wont to do, what is the point?

Popcorn Time?

Why are people discussing something that got shut down by the MPAA, after basically admitting that they are engaged in in illegal activity, on a public forum?

Well, it's back up for good now

10:27 PM
hahaha

Any single one of those would be... unwise, all of them? Seriously? that's just bad opsec...

I don't actually know what Popcorn Time is
here I am on a public forum admitting it

It's a restaurant like Taco Time.

@James are you sure we admited?

Taco Time is a restaurant?

10:29 PM
haha sorry, you're not supposed to believe me.

AHAAHHA

Popcorn Time is a torrent streaming service @Chan-HoSuh

popcorn time is software that illegally torrents movies.

@GeoMint Somebody in the scrollback mentioned liking streams over torrents.
So anyway.

not me

10:29 PM
@James yes

@Chan-HoSuh wiki:taco time
that didn't work.
Taco Time is a fast-food restaurant chain specializing in Mexican food. The chain offers dine-in, take-out, and drive through at over 300 locations. The chain was founded in Eugene, Oregon, United States, in 1959 by Ron Fraedrick, who opened the first restaurant near his alma mater, the University of Oregon, at 13th Avenue and High Street in January 1960. In 1962, the first Taco Time franchise opened in Tacoma, Washington. By the end of the decade, the company had 48 restaurants in seven Western states. In 1978, the company franchised its first international restaurant, in Lethbridge, Alberta...

i preffer something does not means i have used it

@James if you think the discussion should be deleted, feel free to do so

@Seth thought you were using an informal URI, lol

@Chan-HoSuh it's an informal chat command.

10:30 PM
@Seth It exists??

dunno if it works for normal users though..

@James i preffer justin bieber than pewDIEpie. i don't like them ether..

@Zacharee1 please use message replies. I have no idea what you are talking about -.-

It does
@Seth Taco Time

@Zacharee1 ah. yes it exists. Best fast food tacos I've seen yet.
Unless you count Chipotle.

10:31 PM
hm

I've always been confused as to the relationship, if any, between Taco Time and Taco Bell

I think none

yeah, none.

I guess Taco Bell is the giant, and Taco Time is more local, family-owned, etc.

@Chan-HoSuh pretty much, yes. Taco Time is expanding but still hasn't reached the east coast iirc.

10:34 PM
@Seth what would you do if you could change anything in the world?

also, re taco bell:
in Tavern on the Meta on Meta Stack Exchange Chat, Apr 14 at 2:44, by Andy
@ɥʇǝS Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. WHOA! Don't insult sludge now. It didn't do anything to deserve being compared to Taco Bell

@Seth wat

lol

@GeoMint I would undo the 2nd law of thermodynamics

Q: Black screen after installing Cuda and nvidia-352 on Ubuntu 15.10, how to fix this?

RolandiXorPlease do not copy-paste from the Ubuntu wiki about installing the open-source driver. I need to use Cuda so I will need to get this driver working. Any ideas? And yes, I have googled - a lot. This is my last resort. I should mention that I installed cuda from the nvidia repository, and it pull...

10:36 PM
hahaha

Any ideas?

sorry to butt in to a question for Seth

its ok

@RolandiXor the first step would be get rid of nvidia methinks :P

◔_◔

10:37 PM
@GeoMint I would change the greediness of man that has caused this pain on the world.

@Seth ;)

I buy it
One of the best answers

@Chan-HoSuh what's the 2nd law of thermodynamics?

my answer basically includes that though ... :)

@Zacharee1 machines loose energy

10:39 PM
it basically says there's a direction to the universe, where order goes to disorder, rather than the other way around

@GeoMint ah
@Chan-HoSuh what?

@RolandiXor You haven't given any details about when this black screen occurs.
Immediately after grub? After login? Before lightDM?

tsk tsk tsk

Can you hear the lightDM drums?

LightDM is way better than gdm

10:41 PM
@Seth LightDM doesn't load, SDDM doesn't load. Apparently the GL config is incorrect (which indicates a mismatch).

@GeoMint GDM is great and doesn't have that stupid login loop glitch

(Thanks for reminding me of these details - been a while since I had to ask a question).

@RolandiXor k. Edit your question to include that info :)

@RolandiXor I know that AMD has an issue with kernel 4.2. Maybe NVIDIA has something similar?

ah yes. Include the kernel version too.
@RolandiXor Also try Xenial. I believe they're on 4.3 now.

10:43 PM
@Zacharee1 you've noticed such phenomena as heat flows from hotter to colder regions (unless you have some kind of machine doing work to pump heat the other way), and that mechanical work easily generates heat but that it's harder somehow to convert heat to work (think steam engines and their inefficiencies). All this is a reflection of order tending toward disorder.

and try the last LTS, in case it's a regression.

@Chan-HoSuh oh, OK

@Seth that's interesting - I was considering going with 16.04 one time seeing as this is a new system.

@Zacharee1 what issue? (amd)

@GeoMint it'll boot to a black screen or something like that. Pretty annoying

10:46 PM
ohh ok

I updated the question.

goodnight guys

@GeoMint good night

'night

@GeoMint good night

Q: Is there a way to know how much memory Linux Os is using?

YounesI am looking for a way to know the size of the memory that Linux os is using (I'm not worried about the other applications memory size). I am using Ubuntu distribution (Ubuntu 15.10). Thanks for your help

11:29 PM
@UbuntuQuestionsonU&L no.

yo, good news, they liked the pos display, we might get more!

I think I have found the solution to my nvidia trouble.

hammer time?
;P

yup!

11:42 PM
I thought you were going with:

lolz

11:53 PM
@CharlesGreen @JensErat Please don't leave a canned comment on a post if someone else has already left one that addresses the issue. This isn't useful and can be perceived as piling on by OPs. (e.g. 1, 2). See this meta post for more information. Thanks!
err, how does one spell "piling" as in pile-ing again?
nope, looks like that is right. ok then.
