I only get one optoin "Chrome" which controls this room I want turned down plug the movie on another tab I don't want turned down. Muting this chat room tab is only solution so far in Chrome.
Also it's a movie I'm watching, however I have two other tabs with sound - Al Jazeera HTML and Russia Today Flashplayer. THey are paused though while movie is playing.
When I tried to re-install libreoffice it wouldn't because of broken dependencies. My first question is, if I want to re-install LibreOffice, what specific package do I need. I am guessing sudo apt-get install libreoffice is not sufficient.
@WinEunuuchs2Unix It isn't clear to me, however, what is the name of the package I need to use for the apt command to hold.
I downloaded the deb package and extracted it, since using apt-get didn't work. But I normally use apt-get, so I'd like to make sure it doesn't try to update LibreOffice.
@gracious1 we might need the pros like @NathanOsman on this one because there are too many libre-office packages to know the right one: $ apt list --installed | grep libre

Also one thing I noticed, after installing, I can't run libreoffice from the command line (says I need to install libreoffice-common) but I can run it from ClassicMenu Indicator which I have installed.

Add the older respoistory (5.2)
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/libreoffice-5-2

@edwinksl Lenovo no longer makes the pdf available online for the T410/420, etc. When I needed to add memory to my T420, I googled it and read it online at the site in question with no scams. I don't know why he can't or why he gave someone a credit card number.
Okay, thanks. Right now I have sudo apt-mark hold libreoffice* just to be safe. And I went in and fixed the formatting myself. But it didn't work as expected. Ctrl-K didn't work; I had to use tickmarks.
BTW, how do you format so that you can make, for example, Ctrl look like a key on a keyboard?
@JourneymanGeek Well, the access door on the back only had one memory slot. I needed the manual to know that the other one is under the touchpad/keyboard, so yes. And minimum screw, connection removal, etc.
In other news, a prominent youtuber has said that while editing his YouTube videos on the new MacBook Pro, while plugged in, the battery actually goes down.
@WinEunuuchs2Unix considering this is the Macbook Pro you'd think the default would be good enough to do things people commonly use MacBook Pros for. You'd think.
USB 3.x tried to clean the mess up, but I suspect we're still a couple years from standardizing on power delivery.
Personally, I really like what OnePlus did. They put the charging circuitry in... the charger of all places :P (instead of the phone where it gets really hot)

I say this and people seem to think it's not surprising. I find that rather odd. If I'm going to spend almost $2000 on a laptop marketed to designers/video editors/developers, etc I at least expect it to be able to handle those tasks.
@Seth I haven't kept up with Mac hardware. From what you're saying, I gather that the hardware has become more and more under-powered over time. However, my recollection is that Mac hardware has always been known as under-powered, especially for the types of things we're talking about.
@Chan-HoSuh nah. The latest one is awful. I've considered buying slightly older ones before but the specs for the price are always terrible compared to what I can get elsewhere.
@WinEunuuchs2Unix other than a few situations (Institutional projectors) - basically we've moved past VGA, to DVI and DP (on computers) and HDMI (on TVs and projectors)
And on a monitor I consider DVI a minimal specification
