should we close as unclear?

it is very clear to me

@Zanna for your find answer, do you want to add -exec rm -i {} \; as an interactive way to rm the files?

@Rinzwind haha no then

@Zanna excessive ??????? causes me to lose focus of what the question is actually asking...

@edwinksl I ran away because someone else answered it, but I should do that

6:03 AM
@Zanna yeah that would be something the other answer didn't have :p

@Zanna done :D
and zanna dont upvote me too much or someone will ban you >:-D
for serialvoting

@edwinksl should have answered it yourself ;)

@Zanna nah it's fine

that was a a lazy answer

lol

6:07 AM
not you @Rinzwind I meant myself

aha

I think 2 upvotes will be OK

already on 80 and it is 8am :P

jolly good

200 rep here I come :=D

6:14 AM
@andrew.46 my spotify is now playing Down Under by Men at Work and it mentions Vegemite...
askubuntu.com/questions/828962/… usb floppy drive? i haven't seen a floppy drive in years...
@Zanna you said you like purple? i just saw this reddit.com/r/wallpapers/comments/53u7g7/purple_fields_1920x1080

6:29 AM
@edwinksl I grew up on vegemite :)

@edwinksl oooh pretty! I do love purple, but I just love all colours and variety really. Sometimes slate grey is the loveliest colour, it depends on the context, the light, the texture & all

Am I imagining that decent questions are thin on the ground today?

sigh how can we encourage someone to modify the tone of their comments...

@Zanna heh so you might like this reddit.com/r/wallpapers/comments/3oetbm/…
in case it isn't obvious, i am shopping for wallpapers...

ooh yeah that's great too :)
I've still got some from no Man's Sky

6:44 AM
yeah NMS is a great way to generate wallpapers but it is a really bad game :/

In the house of one of my students there are two amazing landscape paintings that I could look at forever, I should see if I can find them online
I like Giorgio de Chirico for backgrounds...

take a picture and i can try to look

I will do next time!
hmm actually I don't like de Chirico so much as I did in art college, but I still like this one img.photobucket.com/albums/v436/MrRtist21/chirico9a.jpg

alright i just found my next wallpaper reddit.com/r/wallpapers/comments/50op5d/…

wow, that's really breathtaking :)
aaand these comments everywhere that I find aggressive have upvotes

6:57 AM
:(

i am not super sure
i am 60 off-topic 40 on-topic
it is unlikely we can do anything about it
i can only really decide if i try out the game myself but i am too lazy

yeah true, but maybe someone knows. idk what to do with this review
thank you skip button :(
argh just found an old Q where someone has corrected a mistake OP made in typing a command - way to confuse everyone!!

which question is that

7:12 AM
please check, maybe I am wrong askubuntu.com/posts/449121/revisions

i think it is correct to remove ~
adding it back in is probably the correct answer, lol
elder geek also said as much

yeah, I think the answer is right, despite comment from OP, but answer makes no sense after Q edited

welp, crap
my mom's car broke down
and by the looks of it it's the engine
which means it's gonna be a very very round bill for repair
which also means , i think i probably won't go to uni next semester
that's it

:(
answer or comment askubuntu.com/a/828398/527764 ?

@Zanna (what's up with that screenshot? lol)

ikr!?
and can't use a USB or cd?

just reinstall
typical user won't wanna deal with kernel

booting an old kernel isn't dealing with the kernel :)

@Seth here is the progress so far:
Still a couple days from getting something working though.
The queue works, the server launches, and the Twitter client connects.
But I haven't written the scraper yet or implemented actions for the items on the pages.

@NathanOsman the other SE sites will be so jealous of our tbot

7:35 AM
Shhh! It's open-source.
They could run it too :)

they can run the bot but they can't produce the starred content like we do

True.

:p

Could somebody cleverer than me sort this one out? askubuntu.com/q/828882/57576
I have run out of ideas and energy......

~/.profile not getting sourced on login apparently?
it's not entirely clear they logged out and back in
that's the ticket...
but sometimes I think the graphical shell doesn't source ~/.profile
I'd tell them to put it in ~/.pam_environment instead maybe... or just roll in the big guns and put the damn thing in /etc/environment (full disclosure - my PATH variable with all my additions is defined in /etc/environment, sorry mum.)

7:52 AM
god I hate whiskey. it tastes like fermented bugs.

That is legitimately hilarious.

Q: Is the word "Fedora" a swearing one?

Hi-AngelStop closing on-topic questions just for mentioning another distro! Just out off top of my head for the last time, here's one, OP simply stated distros they tried — Fedora, Fedora again, Ubuntu, etc — the question is closed. Later then they diplicated the question by simply removing the list, an...

I still find time zone differences funny :)

true , specially went you get into an airplane :P
andrew.46 how are you ?

fine , witch is strange :P

@Zanna I suspect that the OP has a broken system and that I have reached my limits with that question.
But thanks for casting an eye over it :)

Yeah you're probably right. I gave an upvote to your good answer...

My thanks yet again, I spent far too much time on that question. But had a family BBQ in the meantime :)
So all is not lost

8:57 AM
Sounds alright in that case :)

edwinks! i wish i could help on that lol

@AhmedAl-attar you will get to 3k reputation soon enough once you write answers

meta is not the best place for a rant like that >:)

haahha hope now one keeps de-poining me

9:00 AM
@edwinksl that list can be removed from the question.
the complaint about w10 too

i think you can dupe questions by the same OP even if there are no answers?
in fact i actually did that

oh

yeah i recall vaguely somewhere there is a post that says it is possible to do that. can't remember which post that was :x

it is getting groceries time :=)
back in a bit

i think i will keep the list for now just in case it may be useful to potential answerers
but i will remove the windows part
@andrew.46 wow that's a lot of effort on just a PATH question :p

9:14 AM
Sigh..... I am obviously insane......
Ananconda is a 350MB download too I might mention
Can I have medal of some sort?

@andrew.46 indeed i might check out what that 350 MB .sh file does

guys , am trying to help someone in a chat
its seems precise its not included in old-releases , any hint ?

user136984
@AhmedAl-attar: That's because it's not an old-release. It's still supported.

user136984
Through the standard channels.

user136984
Why do so many people round here think 12.04 has gone EOL?

user136984
Beats me...

9:47 AM
can you join us in the chat please ?

user136984
@AhmedAl-attar: Ok

thanks

@ParanoidPanda up to 12.04.4 is end of life

user136984
@AhmedAl-attar: Wouldn't they have upgraded to 12.04.5?

sure hop so ;-)

user136984
9:50 AM
It's only the standard updates that they would need.

i dont know exactly

user136984
@Rinzwind: Plus, they say they are running 15.10, and they have some wily repos and some precise ones.

15.10 is old news :=D

user136984
Though it doesn't look like it's a problem with the main repos. Just some PPAs.

user136984
@Rinzwind: Yes, that is EOL.

user136984
9:52 AM
But half the time they claim they are on Precise.

user136984
@Rinzwind: Seems he's running Wily, but he put Precise in his sources.list because he though he would then be supported.

user136984
:D

user136984
Anyway, the problem he is facing with his errors is due to his PPAs no longer supporting Wily.

that's one way of messing it up :)
back in a bit. doctor who <3

Q: How did those first freed from the Matrix survive?

Paranoid PandaIn The Matrix Morpheus says: When the Matrix was first built, there was a man born inside who had the ability to change whatever he wanted, to remake the Matrix as he saw fit. It was he who freed the first of us, taught us the truth. But as we see from when Neo was freed, if the Humans ...

OT?
and hi. afternoon :)

10:46 AM
that question would gather -10 on SO in a matter of minutes

Afternoon @Anwar :)
@edwinksl I see you made a helpful suggestion ;)

@edwinksl so. no luck for them? :)
you were sending them to black hole?

@Zanna just trying to avoid another "huhhhhh y does every1 h8 mi?????" situation :)

Hehehe enough of that already

@Anwar :P
@Zanna OP claimed different error but it is identical to me

10:57 AM
y you ubunut ppl so unhelpful? y Y?

Thanks for backup :)

looks like OP wrote his/her own answer and instantly deleted it? askubuntu.com/questions/829015/python-3-default-interpreter
maybe some 10kers can confirm that for me :p

yes

Wow that looks copied from Andrew's answer

i think andrew forgot to put that anaconda path in front of $PATH

11:04 AM
@edwinksl may be they had some issue with electrons?

so i basically just told OP to switch the order

When encountering the problem where an anaconda instaltaion does not update the PATH variable propely, change the ~/.profile file like that

# set PATH so it includes user's private bin if it exists
if [ -d "$HOME/bin" ] ; then
PATH="$HOME/bin:$PATH"
fi

export PATH=/path/to/anaconda3/bin:$PATH:
and then do source ~./profile and reboot.

i think OP deleted because i said i was going to write an answer

That's the deleted self answer

that's my best guess
i only saw it for a split second

11:05 AM
Why prepend to $PATH?

because anaconda also has python3

pasted it for you up there
So it has to come before /usr/bin?

if OP wants to use anaconda's python3, its path has to come first before /usr/bin
yeah
it is in fact documented in anaconda's docs too

Got it

11:07 AM
So that's where Andrew went wrong?
@SmokeDetector you messed up
Great knowledge @edwinksl :)

@SmokeDetector phone number??

@Zanna i think so

let me ask a programming q?
or should I go to some other room?

Q: Abstraction VS Information Hiding VS Encapsulation

@Anwar ---^
it is a classic question

I voted as OT @jokerdino

@jokerdino it also says "I have faced the same issue on Ubuntu 16.04"

There are 3 reopen votes on it.
@edwinksl yes but the current OS he is using is not Ubuntu.

hmm.

11:22 AM
I am using Windows now and I have faced this in Ubuntu as well. On topic please?

@jokerdino did OP say he is currently using Fedora?

"OS: Fedora 24"
If that is not clear enough, I am not sure.

no it is not solid evidence to me

too bad then

it should still be closed as being unclear
@jokerdino you are welcome to write a post in response to meta.askubuntu.com/questions/16127/… though

11:29 AM
Can i go to a specific question in review queue?

Not sure what you mean but if you give me a link to the question, I can find it in the queue.

@edwinksl Thank you. Then I can say, essentially they are on same objective? right?
For example, if I see a question with some close votes and I disagree with the votes and want to review it instantly

yeah, I got an option for that.

great! let me know please

Which question is this?

11:34 AM
I have no question selected right now.
say for example, this one

That looks like dupey to me - askubuntu.com/review/close/621383

I'm not saying it's not a dupe. it was an example
that one is in front of the queue. so it's easy to find it. but if a question I was looking for is at the end of the queue, how do I find it?

I don't know if normal users have that option to locate it in the queues.

ah. ok then.

You could ask a mod if it is important.

11:40 AM
Ok. looks like that's the only option we have :)
though I don't see why that option should be hidden from reviewers!

Oh, maybe I shouldn't be telling people.

Saw nothing...
@edwinksl I'll be sure to check with you next time I feel like posting on meta ;)

Can we have a close reason for "shows no research whatsoever"?

is that just a downvote

we have -1 for that

11:58 AM
that doesn't force them to research though :p

@Zacharee1 losing rep will make them rant back, then we get to explain what went wrong and hopefully they will do research :p

@Zacharee1 and just to be pedantic, it really is EDT now :p
@Zacharee1 i have 20 left

@Zacharee1 I think your meta post was effective regardless of actual implementation, so, good work...

12:31 PM
@Zanna yeah, that was weird....

@Zacharee1 that's a dupe i think?

@Anwar it is, sort of
The issue is that the main Q&A uses an outdated answer that no longer works
the second answer has the solution, but it's buried below the gigantic accepted one
So I've been trying to make a new Q&A with the updated solution

oh

The last time I tried, the Q&A got no attention

I saw many of these questions lately. I even don't know which one is the original
@Zacharee1 smh

12:36 PM
@Anwar well it is a dupe

@Zacharee1 they love breaking their system and learn that way ... may be
but their other problem won't fixed. but we can safely dupe it imo
